Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I disagree very highly. Craig ran 10.26 on a slower track than Lemaitre with less wind. He had only been outperformed by Schwab until Lemaitre's 10.03 and 10.28 no wind, but Lemaitre has raced four times. Craig, under the pressure of Simeon, will break 10.10 for sure. He will get close in his next meet if the conditions are right. He is the fastest, most consistent white spprinter right now. Lemaitre will pass him in time, though.
Let's see what he does in his next race.
As much as I like and respect Craig, and want him to do well, I am starting to get the impression that he has peaked. He has not improved his times in the past few seasons, did not have a good indoor season, and continues to have bad starts and poor technique in all his races. Basically, he is not improving, while others are. Hopefully I'm wrong. In fact I will be happy if I am wrong!...but I don't see any evidence of improvement. He does have very good 'top end speed', but it may have taken him as far as he can go - unless he finally learns how to run the first 40 meters of the race.

Christophe Lemaitre is now the 6th fastest 18 year old sprinter that has ever lived regardless of conditions. Wow is he in some good company. This kid is amazing and I can't wait to see where this story goes from here. What a talent! Here is the link.

This is what happened to Matt Shirvington when the weight of expectation was put on him. He'd throw in a couple of good runs and then start back to bad habits just when I thought he had conquered them.
I hope Craig can get over what I believe are mental issues associated with expectation (from himself and others).
I was corresponding with Shirvo's uncle (who I compete against occasionally) yesterday and he told me Matt had spent Sunday afternoon at the movies with his dad. That's the sort of "got it together" family guy he is.

I'm suprised no one commented on the IAAF.org article on the meet in France that Christophe ran the 10.03 in. The 6th fastest teenager of all time regardless of conditions. Good show mate. This kid has such a great upside to come yet. I just wonder if people will quit supporting him if he doesn't go sub 10 within 2 years. Oh the horror.
This kid has 9.80's potential down the road and maybe beyond that. It will depend on him staying healthy, and putting on some serious muscle. He will be 19 soon so his body should really start to fill out nicely over the coming years. Some times he looks like he has barely hit puberty, but yet to see him run is special. This is one guy I would pay to see run. The talent is just natural. He was born to run. I'm anxious to see his next race.

StarWars, a few times you've hinted at your track accomplishments, but I don't remember seeing where you've actually told us out-and-out. You ran in the state meet last weekend, yes? Just gettting there, that's a big accomplishment in itself.
It also sounds like albinosprint might still be young enough to take another shot at it? Probably not realistic, seeing how life moves on, but it would be kind of cool seeing one of the guys we've had on this discussion board being one of the guys we follow in the news. ...Just a thought.

This is a really nice guy, modest but he start to feel the preasure.

So I think it's important to not expect too much from him.

Anyways, on 2009/07/07 he will face Usain Bolt on 200m.
That's going to be awesome.
Next week he'll run a 100m and I hope he'll break the french junior record (10'19).
His coach think he will able to do 10,10 this year.
The matter is he is always ahead very soon or he is better when he has some concurrence, because he has an amazing spirit.
In the interview he just says he expeted to break his record (10'26) because he felt very good in semi-final but not break that much

observer, When I was in about 23 I thought about getting back into to track after about a 2 year layoff. unfortunately I lent up getting a really bad case of sinusitis that almost led to my death. after 4 surgeries & 8 cycles of steroids (for my nose) in about 2 1/2 years I managed to put on about 110lbs. I'm now 33 years old and still about 50lbs over my sprinting weight, but I do plan to run again. the local high school will be running weekly summer meets and a old friend from college (who is black) has challenged me to a race. I ran against this guy almost my whole life and in thirty races we are tied even with 15 to 15. he wants to have one last race to decide who is the best. the problem is he is in better shape now then he was in college and I'm a fat sh*t. so the race is going to be next year July 4th weekend. which give me more than a year to lose about fifty pounds and start training again. wish me luck, I'm going to need it!

Thanks for all the info on Christophe. This kid can really run and he is as nice as they come. I'm glad he is finally running a 200 outdoors. I was hoping he would have run one already. He broke the indoor 200 record. His form is very nice and he just needs to get more power out of the blocks. Almost every race, he is losing by a descent margin until he gets those long strides going and catches up or passes people. When he can nail the start and drive phase, the sub 10 will be his! He will have to get in line though as someone is going to beat him to it. I see Craig and Christophe having quite a nice rivarly over the next 8 years or so.
