Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Lemaitre was tied for the 9th fastest time in heats. But because his start left him so far behind, he had to work much harder than many others to qualify.
I think he has a 50-50 chance to make the finals.
But don't expect his start to suddenly improve. It's been bad for 2 year and seems to be getting worse.
 
The thing that strike me is tha in his last interview that I posted his clearly said that his using a new start technique . Did he had to start using it in the World Championships ???

What's the logic again in this. Like last time when they changed his step technique and he got worse by shortening his stride before a major event?!?!?!?!

Hahaha, Lemaitre is able to sneak into the finals with a 10 flat. Truly amazing that a ten flat is a bare final time and this is with Gay dqed. The failure of Vicaut to advance to the final shows that championship racing isn't the same as circuit racing.
 
We are proud of you Christophe. Way to be a warrior with that legendary lean. Now it's time to run free. No pressure. Just go out and have fun. Almost everyone doubted you. Just go run your race. Ignore everything and do your best and let the cards fall where they will.

Show everyone around the world who "the master" is! Let's go PepeLeFlew!!!:rockon:
 
Well like i told if Lemaitre runs in 10.00, the final was possible.
Although im sincere, he was a little lucky.
First in the semifinal 1 Vicaut had -0.2 wind while Lemaitre had +0.4, and after he won to chinese by 0.001 or something like it hehe.

Well now his target is to get his first sub10 of the season.

To say CL was lucky to reach the finals is simply selecting what is lucky and what is not. I think the other seven finalist are lucky not be have been banned or caught. Viacaut and Zahng too. Viacaut's gluts and quads have doubled in size in a year and we all know about China!
 
What ever happens is up in the air but we will know in about a half hour. I love this kid. Just for him to get here is a testament to his mental and physical toughness. Most here doubted him and many fans around the world wrote him off. I'm so proud of this kid to keep fighting with all he has went through. I would give anything to see him win a medal in the 100. He deserves it but I'm happy with what ever he does as long as he runs his race.

Imagine how fast he would be running if he could start like the best sprinters in the world. I know he will get better. No one hates to lose more than Christohpe. He is his own biggest critic. NEVER COUNT HIM OUT. A legend and a warrior. If only more of our sprinters had his
mental and physical makeup.

Come on Christophe! It's time to shine! Damn I'm pumped! Let's see a sub 10 and just hope for the best!

Hey, nice site. I've been following Lemaitre for some time too. I agree this hasn't been his best season (2011 was) and I ws worried after watching him in London a couple of weeks back: not only the usual bad start but the amazing top speed seemed not to be there. However, he seems to have got the top speed back just in time. It's great to see a white guy in the final regardless, and he seems to have cemented himself as Europe's best in doing so. 10.00 dead in the SF is ok, and should hopefully be improved in the final.

Damn, just saw Lemaitre getting stretchered off after the race....doesn't bode well for the 200 :(
 
That was a pity......reasonably good start by Christophe's low standards, and he seemed to be hitting that famous top speed, but didn't keep it going till the end, no doubt due to the injury. I'm sure he could have finished higher than 7th if he had. Still, the fastest Euro, and great to see a white man in the final.

Well i wait sub20 for 200 and options for bronze :)
And some sub10 in Diamond League the next weeks.

Good performance in general for Lemaitre in 100, better that i waited :clap2:
 
Welcome to the board mjones. Damn what a shame. Lemaitre actually had a descent start. Probably his best all year. He had a chance at a
bronze medal and then he pulled something. He backed off with around 15-20 meters to go and was limping after the finish line. This is really
sad as he was looking good. If it's serious, he will probably have to pull out of the 200 meters for sure. That is devastating news as he had
a shot at another 200 meters world championship medal. I hope it's just a cramp.

If anyone has an update, please report it as soon as possilbe. I'm still proud of this kid. If you look at who wins the medals, it's clear
that cheating pays off. If only they could catch more of these guys. Even Gatlin shouldn't be allowed to run since he is a two time cheater.
 
lets face it, if Lemaitre had been running the way he was 2 years ago he would have made the podium. I think the fact that he was probably the only clean finalist makes him a winner in my book. that race was a PED parade with Lemaitre doing the best he could against a field of drug cheats. lets hope he's not hurt that bad and comes back to medal in the 200m.

You would think it was a tweak as he couldn't have finished the race if it was severe pain and true pull. If his team thinks it could become a pull then will scratch him for the deuce, let's hope not....

glad to see you happy zellgadis..:thumbsup:...and on a lighter note ..CL went well..we can really look forward to his 200....gauranteed gatlin and carter are doping...so i think christophe deserves credit....on these performances ,he will go 9s by end of season ..still a phenomenal natural talent, people should enjoy him while he is active....:thumbup:

Didn't Christophe run his 9.92 PB two years ago?

Anyway, considering the poor performances earlier in the year this was a good championships. CL ran 10 dead in the semifinal, made the final, and then ran 10.06 in heavy rain and with an injury part way through. You could see his great top speed as he went storming past Dasaolu in the mid-way part of the race (that was good to see, as in recent races he seemed to lack the top gear) and he appeared to me to slow up toward the end, probably due to the injury.

In good conditions, and without the injury, I think it's realistic to say he'd have gone sub-10. Carter took bronze in 9.95. I'm not sure if Christophe would have run him down, but he'd have been close, if he'd been able to keep up the mid-race momentum.

Anyway, you can always talk about couldashouldawoulda, but making the final itself, and showing he still has that great speed, is a success. Anyone got any updates in the injury btw?

So let's take a look at what Christophe did. He ran 10.12 despite being dead last ine preliminary round to finish 2nd into a negative wind. Then today he ran 10.00 into another negative wind. He finished off running 10.06 despite being hurt running into a negative wind in the heavy rain. It's so
frustrating that he was injured because he was closing like a freight train. If you look at what he did though as far as the times go with the conditions, I will take it anyday of the week. He is getting back to the Christophe we know and love.

Just look at his reaction time in the finals. He had a 0.154 which was the 2nd fastest reaction time of anyone in the final. Amazing turn around
from just a week or two ago. Even his 2nd race he did react a litle better than the awful prelim race. This kid responded and despite not making
the medal stand made us all proud. I admire him for that. Think how intimidating it has to be for him at times. He really showed great courage. He could have easily had back to back sub 10's today with just average conditions. He is on his way back up guys. Just please let him not be
seriously injured. The rest will do him some good.

Way to go Christophe. Hold your head high. You performed great under the most intense pressure you have ever faced. Champion!


Yes Christophe did run his p.b. of 9.92 two years ago and he will hit the range again by next year at the latest. He is on his way back towards
the top. We have not seen him peak yet and I don't expect to see that until 2016 at the earliest!
