Well a weak 200m for Lemaitre, his first 50m again are his worst part.
I wait that in 100 he is around 10.0 :undecided: , although perhaps he is in 10.1

20.23 for 4th place.
I'm interested in hearing the positive spin on this race, and how this doesn't constitute regression on Lemaitre's part.

Mediocre 200m followed up by a weak, weak 100m. 10,23 at this time of the season is sub-par. Lemaitre didn't even hit his normal 6th gear in the latter part of the race. Very disappointing.

Have to ask though, what in the hell is going on in Lemaitre's and his coaches mind in running 100m with Bolt and rest of the crop after just running 200m an hour before. The lactid acid is still there, are they trying to shatter his selfconfidence permanently?

He looks hurt to me. Not making excuses for him but he doesn't have that high gear that we have seen since he was 18 years of age. When he trys to go he just can't. It's like a car that can shift into the next gear. That is the one thing he has always had is the ultimate top speed even with his horrible starts. Now that is gone too. What has Caraz done to the kid? I'm very upset by how he now looks like most of the other sprinters we root for. Maybe he is sick. I don't know. I will say this. If the world champs are anything like today and the last few weeks, it will be over long before the finals.

I feel very sad for the kid. He has to be second guessing everything he has done to try and improve. You have to trust your coach and trainers. It appears to have backfired.

Hang in there Christophe. No matter how bad it seems, things will be better someday. What an awful day for him and all of his
fans around the world. Keep your head up Christophe!:icon_lol:

With very few wind , only +0.2 m/s, only 1 hour after hard 200m and with not very good shape was almost impossible that Lemaitre gets sub 10.2
His time in all these conditions i see it "normal"

I see some options yet for a possible bronze in 200, because Bolt and Weir are totally IMPOSSIBLE.
And after i see very close to Ashmeade,Spearmon,Martina,Lemaitre,...
Who has best shape in that final will get the bronze

But what is the point in running a crappy time in the 100m (after the 200). Destroy your self-confidence with a crap time?

The excuses will always be the same: humidity too low, he ate a burger, socks on too tight...rcsman will fill in all the excuses

SIMPLY: GET A F!@KING NEW COACH! It is physical and psychological...for one, his training is backwards. Lemaitre should of focused on strength at the early stage so his strength would develop and blend with his speed. 2 - When you have a coach like Caraz that is too realistic, you will never break any barriers. Carraz always stated Lemaitre is good enough for third place, for Bronze, he will never beat Bolt, Blake etc...No one in the history of coaching has ever told their Athletes to strive for third. Being realistic is a negative and a barrier hard to break through. Always strive to Beat Bolt, Blake etc, even if it seems impossible, but there is always a chance. If anything, it will help push him to break his personal bests. . Leamitre's confidence is gone, what a wast of talent in the wrong hands. Part of it is Lemaitre's fault who said he will never leave France, Carraz or Aix-Bains. I don't know what to say. I wont be watching Moscow. He wont make the semi's in the 100 and maybe barley make the finals in the 200. So pissed off right now!

Stop with the wind BS! Those are not normal times. He ran those same times into negative 2.5 headwinds 2 years ago in the 200 and 100. He ran sub 10 5x! It is due to bad coaching and management. End of the story

It has nothing to do with him running two races. He ran 10.19 in the french championships. He should be able to run 10.00 and 20.00 in the same day within a hour apart. These are high level trained athletes. Lemaitre's problem is a coach who does everything backwards and tells his athletes to strive for bronze.

NOBODY in the history in Diamond League,Golden League,.. ran 200m and 1 hour later a 100m...
And Lemaitre made it and with not very good shape, in my opinion stupid decision.

Lemaitre NEVER would get 10.0 and 20.0 same day with only 1 hour difference, although he has the best shape of his life¡¡¡¡¡¡

Lemaitre has big talent but we are talking of not human things¡¡¡¡¡

what about his first race, the 200m. 20.23. Ordinary time against good competition in good weather. Why so slow?

GIVE him a break .
remain upbeat and we might be surprised .

before maybe 2005 at a top one day european meet 20.23 would still be a world class time .
fact is been spoilt by lemaitre and expecting such high standards that only aided athletes
can yield time after time .

but now have to deal with a plethora of yamicans ,carribeans as well as supposedly representing various european countries .
weir and young likely to be aided and couldnt care less about them .

problem is he shouldnt of been here from start ,should be peaking for worlds
which hopefully still can do ,but only two weeks so will see.

You assume everyone else is cheating is the reason for Lemaitre's regression? He has not progressed in the last 2 years!!! Does not matter what everyone else is running or how they are doing it, the fact Lemaitre cant break 10 or 20 is concerning considering 2 years ago he done it with ease. He needs a change of venue - coach, manager, training partners etc. He wont succeed if he continues the same path. 2 years of regression makes it obvious. No excuses of wind, ped's etc...

Ok now we just all need to give him a break and chill down a little; he started to work much harder than before but times keep regressing, this must be quite frustrating for him; his extra gained muscles seem -just- to make him heavier without the benefits. It's maybe just his body changing from a teenager to a man that isn't that easy to pass. I have no doubt that he'll come back stronger than he was in the future.

Obviously there's a crysis in CL life those days, don't forget his 9.98 in Rabat, and the way he beats Gatlin... Maybe it's normal : too much money (500000$/year), enormous pressure from sponsors, medias, fans, parents, staff... may be, in his head, he give up for a while...

Feels like he had no fun running anymore, looks like a burden to him, the contrast with Vicaut is amazing. I think he have to leave, family, coach, etc... another life, other training partners, other trainer... recover the joy of running... fast !

Maybe he has been focusing on his studies at uni instead of sprinting this year. Engineering is a very taxing subject, if you're not a natural it can be very stressful. I think he will start winning medals again in the next few years when more of the Yamaicans and Americans get caught for PED's and his focus returns to sprinting. He will hopefully change his coach when his studies are complete as well.

... and 10.23 for last place in the 100m. Sad :(
Let the excuses begin!!!

Well here they are so far:
1/ Lemaitre is sick and or hurt - (why would he run 2 races in the same day if he was sick or hurt?)
2/ not enough wind in the race - (everyone else in the race had the same wind)
3/ too little rest betw. the 200m and 100m - (why was his first race slow?)
4/ Jamaicans are taking PEDs - (what does this have to do with Lemaitre's performance?!)
5/ his body is changing - (he's 23 yrs old now!)
6/ he has too much pressure on him - (he has a lot less pressure on him than all the big name sprinters)
7/ his university studies are too strenuous - (hmm, what about all those university athletes that run in the NCAAs?)

Anything else?!

8/ his body has not changed, meaning he's not strong and powerful enough?

On the bright side, Christophe Lemaitre and the French 4 x 100 relay team took silver today in a very fast time. A nice result that came at the right time. Lemaitre seems to still be pretty upbeat overall. I think he is going to be fine in the long run. He may or may not do to much this year but the kid will learn and grow from this. He is very upset at his perfomances. I guarantee it. This is his passion and he will be back. Give the kid some time and we will see the return of "the master" by next year at the latest.

Yes I'm trying to stay optomistic. I'm crushed just like you guys but the kid needs positive energy. I'm not saying he shouldn't make some changes. I'm just saying it's too late for this summer to change anything major now. Let's give him our support and hope that somehow he can break out of his funk in the next couple of weeks.

I agree white lightning, thanks for the update on the relay team.
