We've mentioned the PED problem for years, not *just* now. Just because they haven't been proven guilty doesn't mean they are innocent. Any cursory look at sprinting time progressions betray the idea that they are doing it naturally. To think they are doing in naturally is an exercise in Big Lie fantasy.

By the way, the way that guy in the clip squatted 700 is a great way to get hurt, kind of like trying to "bounce" a heavy bench press off one's chest. Not a good idea.

Really Lemaitre was worst in 100m this year.
"Only" 10.04 in big race in Rome when he should to get sub10 probably there.
But in 200 he was this season minimum at same level that 2011 or better.
19.91 with horrible conditions in DL London and 20.03(his 3rd best time after 19.80 and his 19.91 few before this year)in semifinal OG.
In the final he was tired and running in lane2, very bad for him, but his speed endurance was really good.
PJ Vazel told me that he got 10.60 in the bed, so he got 9.59 in the last 100m, it is great.
In Daegu in his 19.80 he got 10.24 and 9.56.

He has to train more and better his bends, it is SURE

WORST IN 100M this year, 10.04 ?

10.04 in 2012 with very bad start with -0.1m/s = 9.92 with 2m/s in 2011
10.09 with wet track and cool temperature and -0.07m/s is not worst than 9.92 with +2m/s (wind) and 30°c !

the weather in europe in may, june was very bad !

One of the keys to running fast is having the ability to relax. For what ever reason, Christophe has looked very tense and nervous this year. He needs to know that if you run tight, you will run slow. Relaxation is the key to speed and speed endurance. I'm also going to post a interesting article. It talks about the gene the people are born with that allows you to be able to run fast if you train properly. The article clearly states that whites just like blacks have this gene and are capable of running very fast times.

CL is a perplexing athlete. White Lighting, I don't understand how/why CL is tense or nervous? It is not like he is boxer going up against a murderous puncher. He simply runs fast but apparently not as fast as the elite. WTF, he should have fun with the whole thing after preparing properly, which he obviously did not do for this world stage. He was an utter dissappointment. I am not a track expert, but when you see all of the elite sprinters both women and men with great upper body muscle development, its for a reason. Explosiveness. CL doesn't have it. He needs to get it. Or he will be a footnote in breaking the 10 second barrier for pale faces.

I simply dont understand why his upper body is not there and did not run the 100 meters. I sense a Gerrie Cooney reduex here but without a ass kicking, literally.

If Lemaitre was nervous why would he have the fastest reaction time in the 200 meter final?

We are passionate about Lemaitre because he is a one in a million talent. It is frustrating when it looks to us like he could actually improve on his times and he is not getting it done.

Interesting read. I have to admit when I saw Lemaitre in the semi final I knew he wouldn't have much chance. I've never seen Lemaitre level with someone coming off the bend and not pass him. This is the man that in Daegu was closing down Dix and Bolt! Yet he couldn't get past Spearmon, who isn't exactly on top form. When I saw he was in lane 2 I knew it was over for him, his bend running is terrible. I hope this season is just an off season and not a sign of things to come, but at 22 he may well be over the hill.

Those who are complaining about Lemaitre not following 'modern sprinting training techniques', haven't you stopped to consider that that may be the reason why he is the only white man to have run under 10s? Thousands of white athletes have followed those recommendations, none of them have gotten near 10s. It is clear that modern training techniques, like modern steroids I'd posit, benefit black far more than white athletes. Just because it produces excellent results for black athletes, does not mean it will for white athletes. The reason for the dearth of white sprinters may be because modern sprint training methodology is detrimental to white sprinters. Pickering, for example, is the only white British sprinter to run under 10.2s for 20 years.

Lemaitre doesn't look like what we perceive to be a sprinter, but that is because that perception is based on black sprinters. Pickering tried bulking up, he ran much slower. He's altered his training again, but I fear he spent his best years following a training program that wasn't designed for him. I'd hate to see Lemaitre fall into the same trap and waste his talent.

Great points Charlie. Kenteris may have never been caught but we all know he was cheating. But most other white sprinters that I know of caught cheating were mediocre at best like Austtralia's Dean Capobianco and Recently Pascal Mancini. You may be on to something here. Maybe PEDs dont help the white sprinter like it does the black one.

It is not passion, it is hysteria, people have to control themselves and be respectful!
It is too easy to justify the insults by the disappointment or passion!
We are not children immature, we are adults!

A lot of people showed their real mentality!
It is poignant and disappointing!
They are fans of Christophe when he wins, but when Christophe loses, they are offensive, immature!
Yes, Christophe deserves better than of hysteric and stupid "fans" !

Zellgaddis's initial comment led me to this interview that the website SpeedEndurance did with Vazel. I think you'll all find it VERY interesting. The quote is long but please read all of it:

Q2 – SpeedEndurance.com: In France weight training is often not maximal, yet one of the best experts (Cometti) is a big influence. Could you share how the culture of France and athletics is helpful and harmful for strength development?
PJ Vazel: It is a difficult question as I have never felt there was such thing as a “French school” for sprinting, unlike Pole Vault or Triple Jump. In France, strength training has always been seen as suspicion. Traditionally, its practice has been associated with drug use and has been opposed to “technical training” (analytical training) which would belong to higher coaching competence.

yes, that's why i mentionned that overlooking weight training was typically french

Yes here is one Mike Larabee and he came back at 30 and he was White. Beyond that it's been few and far between. I seem to recall a few others that took time off and became champions again or medalists but they were suspended athletes ie Gatlin or guys like Bailey that were club level sprinters who gave up the sport to earn a living.

Bobby Morrow won both the 100 and 200 meters in the 1956 Olympics, age 21. Morrow tried out for the team in 1960 but at age 25, his legs were dead.

I came to this site over two years ago because I really like Christophe Lemaitre and there were a lot of positive fans here. I enjoyed reading the positive comments from his fans. It hasn't been fun to read a lot of the posts about Christophe's performance in London.

It's understandable to be disappointed but there is no reason to bash our hero Christophe. He had a bad performance. It happens to the best of sprinters. Nothing productive will come from any of these negative comments and this performance will not define Christophe's future. Christophe has great potential yet and I would hope his greatest "fans" would recognize that.

these olympic games were a disapointment for christophe and his fans, so obviously it's not fun to read the comments about it (althought trackster's post and especially when he talks about "dancing with the cones" were funny )
i tried not bashing him by avoiding posting just after the race, i tried to be relatively positive by pointing what needs to get better

yes, being amongst the world's best sprinters whithout any strenght training is impressive and i and many others mentionned that at daegu, but now he needs to take it to the next level and compete like all the other athletes, i don't want him to be the only unmuscular athlete in all of his races

we had high expectations for him this year especially over 200m (we thought he would beat the european record) but he didn't do what he had to do this year
hopefully he will do it next year

we all support lemaitre regardless ,

if he hangs up his spikes and goes off for a peaceful life
we support him and who wouldnt blame him with such a
toxic ,anti-white feeling in sprinting and athletics nowadays and ****ing society .

we all know his character is not suited to spotlight which doesnt help
his cause when all eyes are on him in 100m .but minor detail .
people expect to much nowadays . symptom of society .

I think after the 56' games Morrow went and got a job as bank employee. He let his physique decline and around 59' he decided to make a comeback, but had a series of injuries and couldn't make the deep US team in 60'. Back in this era doing what he did was a kiss of death for a sprinter.

Yeah, when it gets down to it, you really can't be too hard on Lemaitre. He was just some kid from a small town who happens to be able to run fast and slipped through the cracks.

He doesn't know what we know. He comes off as just some goofy kid, doesn't know what he has.

We're all fired up to take on the system. In terms of intent, he doesn't get it.

The caste usually would catch guys like him and get them turned in other directions.

SHAME ON YOU !

When Christophe wins you are fans of Christophe and when he loses it is a Christophe's bashing !
You say that Christophe has regressed, it is stupid!

You compare his time 2011 in 9.92 with perfect condition 30°C, wind +2m/s AND his time 2012 in 10.09 with cool temperature 14°c wind -0.7m/s and wet track! And you say Christophe has regressed ! YOU are SO STUPID!

For 200M in 2012, Christophe ran 19.91 with cool temperature or 20.03 with wind -0.5m/s and a very bad bend!
You think that Christophe can run so fast without hard work? You do not know the athletics !
Christophe is not a machine, he is just a human !

You don't respect Christophe, you don't respect his trainer SHAME ON YOU!
You talk about his training, about his trainer, but you know NOTHING!
3 years ago, Christophe had won no title, Christophe won since many titles he ran very very fast 9.92, 19.80!

He is 6th in Olympic final and it's a Christophe's bashing, YOU are SO STUPID!
I am sure that Christophe can beat his time of 19.80 at the meeting of Brussels.

The disappointment is not an excuse! Your comments about Lemaitre, about Pierre Carraz are shameful!

Nickel ashmeade is a big hope for the jamaican sprint he's 22 years old like Christophe, but where is he this year?
Christophe beat him this year at the diamond league meeting of Paris

His trainer is he bad? It is the same trainer than tyson gay!

SHAME ON YOU! And stop to say that you are a fan of Christophe, you don't respect him and his trainer either!

your are hysteric !

I agree completely.

Im OK with RCSMAN.
I told it before, some people here is crying like babies and acting without respect.
Ok Lemaitre is not perfect, we neither.
We can critics but positive, never negative.
He is a great runner without doubt

I compare the situation a little with american football and basketball. No matter how legendary the coach, eventually it is time for them to retire. P. Carraz has really done a good job with Christophe in helping him to set marks that will be forever etched in the history books. With all due respect however, it's time for Christophe to move to a new coach. It is my honest opinion. It's not up to me though. I just think it is time for Carraz to enjoy life but they should still keep him as an extra advisor, friend and mentor to Christophe. They just need to add some additonal parts to what they are already doing. They also have to find a way to get him to eat healthier. Not just for his career but also for his health.

Everyone of us here loves this kid despite the criticism. We all have our opinions and we need to respect each other. I really don't believe that anyone here dislikes Carraz or Lemaitre. We just know that a once in a life time talent has to take it to the next level before it's too late because the average prime years of a elite sprinter are very short.

Good luck to France in the Relay tommorow. Go get a medal guys!
