Can someone tell us how long it has been since there was a white man in the 100m final in the Olympics? I don't care nor do I expect a medal, but seeing him run the final will be a big deal and a good experience for 2016. He's definitely in that mix for 4th-6th after Bolt, Blake, and Gay. As I have repeatedly said, let's not assume that Gatlin, Powell, (or even Bolt) will run perfect races, anything can happen.[/QUOTE]

it was when Wells won it - Moscow 1980..... a long time between drinks as we say.

There have been white 100 metre sprinters in world championship finals since then, but not after the 1980's
Wells, Narracott, Haas 1983 -
Kovacs, Bryzgin, Pavoni 1987 -
That's all folks!

Well in my opinion, the diference today between Gay-Gatlin and Lemaitre is not real.
They had peak in their trials USA(in adittion some jet lag), now they are in worst shape but they will back to their top shape again in OG.

Lemaitre is in good shape and running like always 10.00-10.10 basic.
Im sure that Gay and Gatlin will be in range 9.8(9.9 low or 9.8 high basic ) in OG.

Lemaitre ran well today but not really good.:undecided:
I dont see him options for medals in 100, but very good options in 200.
I hope that in his next 200 he can to run around 20.1

WAIT AND SEE, FRANCISCO !!!!!!:yo:

You beat me to it Frederic. I have an autographed Matic Osovnikar Card. He has a lifetime p.b. of 10.13 and he did make the Finals of the 100 meters for the 2007 World Championships. The Olympics is where the drought has gone on forever.

Lemaitre has had his stuggles this year and we all know it. I'm still proud ouf him though and I really still think he should enter in the 100. Just to make a final is a hell of an acheivment and he may finally put a whole race together. It's worth a shot in my opinion. We were proud of him finishing in 4th place at the World Champs and I would be just as proud as a top 8 finish as the Olympics. Something to build on for the future. I hope they make the right decision.

Lemaitre has beaten everyone but the 3 big name Jamaicans and Gay at some time or another I think. So if not a realistic 100 medal hope he still unsettles the others on his best day

Here's a great video of the race.
They show the race from several different angles, including overhead.
You can see that it was a typical race for Lemaitre - last or almost last at the halfway point, and then comes through in the last 15 meters or so to get 3rd place.
I think it was a good race for Lemaitre despite the time. He beat several top sprinters, and showed he is finally coming into form this season.

temperature : it's not bad condition
track : fast
wind : 0

BAD time for everybody ! VERY STRANGE RACE !

I read that the track was wet, that could account for the slow times.

Just watched the video link and the track was indeed wet. his reaction time wasn't great, but not a bad drive phase. I'm sure with some Jamaican Yams it could be better. he ran a great race, and he should run the 100m in the Olympics. anyone who says he shouldn't is just plain crazy. he will zero chance of a medal if he doesn’t run and you never know what’s going to happen. people false start, heats get stacked and cheaters get caught. if he doesn't run the 100m I'll be pissed.

That's right, he needs to run the 100m. With his talent, he would be mad to not at least try.

I am not concerned too much if no medal will come about in the 100m, but please, please make the final and stop the all black final happening. Any average person (not a track and field fan) only watches the 100m when it's in the Olympics, and even if they at least see that one white person can make the final, then that will be good enough for me. Of course, I would like to see a medal or a win too!

CL ran well yesterday considering he lets everbody else start before him and lets the entire field have a head start on him.

CL's closing speed is unrivaled to only Gay or Bolt and his top end speed is over 27.5 MPH. But why can't his team realise that the start is killing him. If he gets out at least even with the others, he will not be coming third as always, but he will WIN. That is what I would love to see.

Good luck to CL in the London 200m next week! Please win!!!

I agree he should run the 100m in London. That is the main event and everybody in the World will be watching it. If he can make the final, then that will be a huge role model for kids around the World.

+27.5 mph top end speed for Lemaitre?heheeh the people dream i see:lol:
It is around 0.81 splits heheheh, more or less top speed of Bolt in his 9.58

The max speed for Lemaitre was in his 9.92 +2.0 and was around 11.9 m/s , 42.84 km/h or 26.6 mph, for a split of 0.84
Source:pJ Vazel.

In his other sub10 with less wind probably his top speed was a little bit less.

I dont understand why the people talk without to know REALLY :dodgy:

As far as I can tell, it is his first time running in England. This is a huge race for Christophe. We have all talked about how much he needs a sub 10 but his 200 meters form has been even worse. There is no guarantee of a sub 20 here. It's a good field of sprinters but the weather is always a little cold there. It is a good warmup for the olympics but I really hope he does both events. You only live once. He did say in an interview yesterday that they still haven't decided.

PLEASE RUN THE 100 METERS IN LONDON CHRISTOPHE. TO MAKE HISTORY, YOU NEED TO RUN IN BOTH EVENTS REGARDLESS OF THE RESULTS.

Good luck to PepeLeFlew tommorow! I can't wait to watch this race.:becky:

I prefer that he runs only 200 in OG, his only big rival for bronze medal is spearmon, his rivals in 100 are a lot of....

But if you look at what happened last night in the London Grand Prix 100m, anything can happen in these cold and wet conditions. Bledman ran horrible, not even making the final and yet he ran some crazy fast 9.86 recently. People mess up and lose form all the time.

If CL runs the 100m in the Olympics, I know he has the ability to make the final, and from there who knows what can happen?

CL and Gemili need to make the finals to show that European non blacks can compete with the best in the world still at 100m.

CL will be letting himself down and all of France if he does not run the 100m.

What time does Christophe run today?

GMT

Disappointed if Lemaitre decides not to run 100m, he represents a positive future for young white kids fed constant lies that they are unable to run or jump like the black kids.

EXCELLENT Lemaitre winning with 19.91¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
And the weather conditions were not perfect.
WITHOUT DOUBT, he should to run ONLY 200M in OG.
He has big options for bronze medal against Spearmon
And probably he will be around 19.7 in OG, umm it is possible the record of Mennea :icon_wink:
CONGRATULATIONS Lemaitre¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
