Christophe is into the 200 m finals, having run a presumably leisurely 20.94 in the semifinals.

Let's hope the four races he's already run in the past two days hasn't worn him out, and that he's got a little left for the finals. I'd like to see him uncork a good time.

i have official splits at 60m yesterday, by a friend that is working for IAAF, and he had cameras HD 210 frames/sec(it is REAL)in the stadium.

Lemaitre and Vicaut got same time at 60m, 6.54
So 40 last metres of Lemaitre were very good 3.40, but of course with super wind +2.6, in normal conditiosn hardly he can to improve 3.42(he made 3.42 in his 9.92 +2.0 wind).

I dont know where RCSMAN get or calculate time splits, but my times are OFFICIAL.

Lemaitre is in good shape, although in 100 his improvement is very slow i see.
In the european championship with good conditions we will see his first sub10 legal of the season :shy:

20.31 is not bad time, but yes, i waited 20.1-20.2
He needs make some 200 before OG, because in european championship he will run only 100.
Umm he could run 200 in Monaco with Bolt by example:icon_smile:

It's not a good time for his caliber. Last year at the same time, he ran similar into a -2.5 headwind, twice! Something is off. Maybe he stumbled...

Well, that's the issue, isn't it? In race after race this year, indoors and out, he's underperformed what he ran a year ago. We keep being patient, blaming everything on wind and cold, etc, but sooner or later he's got to show that he can run as fast as last year--and that's just to be a finalist. If he wants to be more competitive at the games, he has to do better than a year ago. So far, that's just not happening. Right now, he doesn't look like a finalist in any event. Medalling is out of the question. He's running himself out of contention.

Also, I agree with Zellgaddis above; Christophe should be running more 200's. Running all these indoor 60s and outdoor 100s is kind of silly for someone who knows he will end up specializing in the 200 (he has basically admitted this himself). Bolt runs a competitive 400 every year, then runs 300s in training. Christophe should do the same.

Furthermore, Christophe should more often test himself against real runners. In France, his training partners are super slow, and his competition is super slow. In the meanwhile, Gatlin trains with Gay, Bolt trains with Blake, etc. This makes them better.

Well, let's hope someone posts a video soon and maybe we'll see if he stumbled or whatever, but 20.31 would be a good time for a 400 specialist. It's very poor for someone hoping to run the 100/200 in the Olympics.

You are so immature!!!

HELLO to your imaginary friend of the IAAF!

What you say is obviously false, it is enough to see the video of the race to verify it !

at the 40M Vicaut and christophe are equally (look at the white line)
at the 50M christophe is slightly in front of jimmy (look at the white line)
at the 60M christophe is clearly in front of jimmy

Thus they cannot be equally in the 60M as your imaginary friend said it !!

Certainly my figures are only an estimation with a margin of error can be of 0.01s or 0.02s purpose I know that what you say is a lie!

There will always be excuses...but it's his training. He needs a 360 on his training. He should be powerlifting and running 400 meters, sleds and hills. His current training prepares him to be sprinter, not to be Christophe lemaitre. a coach with a keen vision on Christopher weaknesses will help him.

You mention that 20.31 would be a good time for a 400m specialist...well, Jonathan Borlee ran 20.32 (1.5w) at the Belgian Championships today.
That does give us some perspective on CL's time. It's good; but not good for a 200m specialist of his caliber.

heheh imaginary friend RCSMAN?
you are the INMATURE.

I know to PJ Vazel, famous coach in france, and he is very proffesional in splits.
He gave me these splits and Lemaitre made 6.54 at 60m, same that Vicaut.

With all my respect, your "estimations" based in only tv video are **** compared with HD cams in stadium with 210 frames/sec for analyze.

Perhaps you dont know the problem in tv that is the different view, not straight.

You are talking without to know, and PJ Vazel know so much more than you in it.

In football sometimes is same, since tv cam looks off side but, if you looks straight since one cam or if you make a line totally straight correctly is not off side.

It is called parallax problem, you should inform you.
Everybody that read this one, should be read it for to understand why you are wrong now.

parallax problem ? LOL

It does not exist with white lines on the track!

White lines at the 40M and 50M are straight and perpendicular in the track thus no problem of parallax!
Thus your explanation is not valid!

I like very much the work of Pierre Jean Vazel, if you know him, I hope for you that he does not read the stupid comments which you write on this forum about lemaitre christophe !

Pierre Jean could teach you many things on the athletics, you would say fewer stupid things on this forum !

RCSMAN, i know PJ Vazel and he gave me the information, so if you know him REALLY, ask him please, because the information come of HIM.

PJ Vazel gave me the next information, in adittion in his own Facebook:
"Times at 60m from video 210 frames/sec (official reaction time) Christophe Lemaitre Officiel 6.54 (0.149), Jimmy Vicaut (page officielle) 6.54 (0.167), Emmanuel Biron 6.56 (0.140), Ben Bassaw 6.70 (0.171), Ronald Pognon 6.71 ..."

So you dont should to give bad information watching tv video while PJ Vazel analyzed the race with a cam in the stadium 210 frames/sec

Now YOU are telling stupid things.

That does give us some perspective on CL's time. It's good; but not good for a 200m specialist of his caliber.
To put this time in perspective Jeremy Wariner has a pb of 20.19 and he doesn't use the 200 for anything but training purposes. Also Leshawn Merritt has a 19.9X pb(obviously you have take that with a grain of salt because he was/is a PED user). That time is decent and if he were running similar times in London it could make the final but it will never win a medal in London.

20.31 is not bad time, Lemaitre is progressing but few to few i see.

Im sure that he will improve soon, but well for me if by example he gets 19.90 in London and he is 4th or 5th, for me never it would be some very bad.

Of course,i hope that he can get medal like in Daegu but if he finally gets 19.9 and not medal, i never could to tell nothing bad about him.

Perhaps sometimes we are pressing so much to CL, while he is training hard and good times, for me is enough, although i would love wonderful times and some medal of course

20.31 for christophe

but DON'T FORGET that christophe has ran 5 races in 3 days!

- 4X100M
- 1/2 final 100M
- Final 100M
- 1/2 final 200M
- Final 200M

And don't forget that the FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP is much more early in the season than last year!

He did look exhausted after the win but to be fair, he almost always looks like that after running the 200 meters. In most of his 200 meters races, Lemaitre always looks like he ran a marathon when he finishes. He usually collapses in pure exaushtion. I love the guy but he has things to work one. If this will be his specialty in London, he needs to increase his speed endurance dramatically. I can't believe it's almost July and still not one sub 10 or sub 20. I hope this changes very soon. He needs it for his confidence. Good luck Christophe!

Lemaitre Training

Hi elispeedster, you said ...

"There will always be excuses...but it's his training. He needs a 360 on his training. He should be powerlifting and running 400 meters, sleds and hills. His current training prepares him to be sprinter, not to be Christophe lemaitre. a coach with a keen vision on Christopher weaknesses will help him."

I have found that he's working with sleds (20 - 36 kg) and the weights are probably higher than the weights that Bolt and Co take.

French Championships 50m

Hi RCSMAN,

I have seen the video and looked at the white lines and it seems to me that Jimmy is slightly in front of Christophe at the 50m line .... so it can be true that they are equal at 60m.
