wind is not an excuse but it slapped this week end into gusts around 50km/h (30 miles/h) around -14m/s!!

about Carraz, this is his last year training Christophe, he said several times that he'll retire after the olympics.. and I don't think Christophe will join an american university, he is more likely going to join Paris where the means put for athletes are very professionnal, and very high tech; no need neither to over-worry after a bad race, nor to get over-excited after a good one; the kid has a great mental and he has all our support

[after looking at the video posted by Raul; they said that the wind was around 90km/h (55 miles), was measured -6m/s for the long jump, and the anemometer for sprint was protected by a nearby shelter]

Hello guys ... been reading this thread since 2008 so I decided to write about him since I'm a hyge fan of CL....

-6m/s is not a small thing !!!! According to my wind converter a -6m/sec in an altitude of 250m for Aix les Bains for a 10.45sec is exactly 9.99sec ;) at sea level altitude & 0m/sec wind...

I'm not very happy for his current Coach too but since he will be retired in some months then we hope he gets a better one in Paris!!!

SHUT UP !!! Pierre Carraz is a very good trainer !

christophe need to change his wide stride for a shorter but more frequent stride if he wants to be faster ! it's logic !

READ : http://www.europe1.fr/Sport/Articles/Lemaitre-En-9-78-dans-un-an-246198/

do you know track and field or not ?

his trainer knows he does !

christophe will run under 9,85 et under 19,60 in 2012

sorry for my bad english !

wait next sunday, christophe will run on 200m ! respect pierre carraz

Carraz is a good trainer, but not great or elite level. And we respect him for developing Christophe to this point. But Christophe has the most potential than anyone else out there. He is built for speed - perfect limb lenght, height etc...except he lacks power. He does not need to develop into a bodybuilder, but watching him lift weights that my 9 year old niece can do is rather mind boggling.

I see him running 9.90 and 19.77 this year, next year 9.84 and 19.65

Well im more realistic and perhaps around -4m/s wind or few more, could be give us around 10.15-10.20 basic time, a time more logical of course.

The last year in around same date, same track he got 10.19 +0.8 or around 10.23 basic time.

He is in good shape, perhaps not super big shape, but well in my opinion this year i dont see him for break 9.9

By the other hand if he got a little more endurance speed that is more possible i can see him around 19.7 and bronze medal in London in 200m

It is normal, there isn't a lot athlete in France who have the level to win an Olympic medal.

Pierre Carraz, the trainer of Christophe Lemaître was himself a big international athlete of decathlon. Then he pulled sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, of whom Grégory Gabella, who realized 2,30 m in height in 2002. But he says about lemaitre, that he has never seen such a talent

Carraz is ok

I think Carraz is trying others things better than weights. Lemaitre is only 21 so his body still has to develop. I think he is too young to lift to much weight.
Sorry for my poor English.

in france we are afraid to build muscle (except blacks, who can take all the steroids and other anabolic substances they need)

it's a very bad thing that needs to be changed in order to win

lemaitre is freakishly gifted, but he has the body of someone who never did sports
it would be very easy to change this
he needs to lift weights
every other athlete in the world does it, why should lemaitre do something else?

Exactly. Lemaitre being tall in height could easily add 10 pounds of muscle spread out his long frame. As long as his strength to body weight ratio goes higher, he will run much faster with added muscle. He needs good power training. Watching him do squat jumps holding 10 pound dumbbells is comical. My niece is stronger and she is 9!

Weight training is fundamental, not different. Without a solid strength base, you will not improve in any sport. Its basics!

We all respect Coach Carraz. He has done an amazing job with Christophe, but I dont think he is capable of taking him to the next level....IF Christophe, with weather permitting, does not break 20.4 in his first 200 of the year, it will be really disappointing considering he will face Bolt, Blake, Spearmon, Dix, Gatlin, in the 200 meters at the Games, which is the only event he has any chance to medal.

Blake and Bolt run in Jamaica tonite. I say the Yams will make Blake run the 200 somewhere in the 19.6 range, unless he pulls up, and Bolt in the 100 at around high 9.8....weather permitting.

yes loyalty is something that keeps many White athletes down, I know in boxing it has kept a few down. I don't know much about sprinting. Yes its nice to stay loyal but sometimes you need someone better to take you to that next level, it isn't happening with his trainer sor far, hopefully I get proved wrong tommorow but the stuff about his strength and weight lifting is true, then that is sad and really old school mentality in forms of training. I repsect that he has taken Christophe this far, buts it about being the best, you can't let loyalty get in the way, if he wants to be loyal he can still find a way for him to help him out, but I don't know if he would take a secondary role.

I don't need to know him, I can tell by the fact that Christophe has the strength of a girl. You can't get by in sports without weight training, it doesn't have to be the typical dumbells but you need to use some type of weight. I wasn't a sprinter but did work on speed for football. I improved speed by running up hills (well on an incline), running with a parachute since there aren't many hills (the hills we have would not be considered a hill anywhere else) in Louisiana, but usually had to share with a friend because too broke to get my own as a teen. Weight training, squats at heavy weights really increases explosion etc.

Its simple The more powerful your leg muscles are the more force they can apply to each ground contact. Some old schoolers have this false belief that weight training will decrease speed and other nonsense, they are behind the times. The fact that he has reached this point without any serious weight training is amazing.

BRAVO! Exactly what I been saying.

Lemaitre has the most raw talent out there. He is undertrained. Just think if Christophe spent months on working to develop his power....he could run a legit, and clean, 9.77 and sub 19.5.

I agree with your arguments about importance to increase its muscular power but as other persons on this forum, you forget a very important thing, christophe is only 21 years old!
A sprinter is successful generally at about 23-24 years old !

His entraineur wants to develop him gradually to avoid him wounds!
your are right to say that christophe runs very fast without having of muscle it is extraordinary!
When he will more be developed the muscle he will run faster!

If you look at christophe's body in the video of its first race, we see that he has more muscles!
This winter christophe has ran the 60M in 6,57 but his coach said He would run below 6,50 during training!
You are far too much impatient!!!!!
I am sure that this year christophe will run below 9,85 and below 19,60

christophe UNDERTRAINED ? lol

Factual statements are not funny.

He ran 20.48 with only a .05 negative headwind today and he said he is very disappointed! Last year he ran 20.33 into a negative 2.5 headwind. His indoor season indicted to me that he is not trained properly and seems to be regressing (maybe some more cone training will help
:icon_rolleyes:
)

Stop denying the facts that Carraz cannot take him to the next level. He should of ran today, at minimum, 20.2 for his first race considering he is 19.80 sprinter. I have a slight feeling that if a drastic change is not made - hello Matt Shirvington 2.0

Cruel? YES! But someone needs to get int there and build that natural raw talent Christophe has!!!!!!
