It would be kind of cool to see him wind up at a school like Stanford. He would thrive under their scheme. Wisconsin would be the ideal place, besides not being able to go to a big 10 team, Wisconsin doesn't play white rbs. They have one of the best lines in the country. Rarely do you see linemen getting down the field like that. They made John Clay look good, who I think is the most overrated back since Ron Dayne. Wegher would put up insane numbers. He is probably going to wind up at a smaller school close to home, unless some team offers to help him and his family. Apparently, watching the SMU special, they used to do this for white guys all the time. Now it seems like they only help out black players like Cam Newton, Reggie Bush etc. But who knows what goes on behind the scenes, but I doubt there is a major program out there willing to pay a white runningback, probably only the racial appropriate positions.

We have too few white RBs that get offers at this level....Brandon needs to stay at this level. He ripped Georgia Tech apart last year in the Orange Bowl.....we (and more so the DWFs) need to see that again and again so that more Brandon Weghers, Rex Burkheads, etc. get a big time chance and not shuffled off to Chadron State like Danny Woodhead.

I do too! But I don't want him going to a big name school and getting lost in the shuffle of their "affletic runningbacks". I want to see Brandon play, and I think his best shot is looking at what McGuffie did with his career after Michiganand making a smart decision. He needs to go somewhere that he is positive he will get a shot to be a featured back.

Na not sold on Iowa State. They recruited Blankenship a few years back and he never even got a sniff of playing time. That being said Wegher is more talented, but do you really wanna see Wegher play on that Big 12 dweller team?? I would rather see Wegher transfer to a top FCS program before he went to Iowa State.

UC..CINCINNATI!! Come on folks its a no brainer. They play in a BCS Conference. They're successful as the team is always in the 8-10 win range. The program is pretty fair towards white players i.e. Connor Barwin, Brent Celek, Mike Wright, and all current 10 white starters. Come to Ohio Brandon!!

However, I did spot another Carpenter boy playing Division 1 college football. Detroit Lions' OLB Bobby Carpenter's little bro and the youngest son of former NFL running back Rob Carpenter is now a freshman on the Ohio U. team.

I'm not sure if I'd liken BW going to Cincinnati. No doubt Isaiah Pead has been very efficient although he might be better splitting carries evenly at his size. If BW goes to Cinci, I'd heavily bet he'd be sharing time with Pead until he graduates or gives the NFL a shot as an underclassmen. But heck, now that I think of it- there could be two years without Pead for BW with his redshirt- if Pead declares for the NFL draft after his junior year. Recommendation:

This is an odd twist in the already goofy Wegher saga, and the
report doesn't specify just what the terms of his arrival are. Oklahoma
wasn't reportedly one of the schools offering Wegher a scholarship out
of high school, so he might be attempting to walk on to the program.

Former Iowa running back Brandon Wegher has plans to transfer and walk-on to Oklahoma, Wegher told the Des Monies Register this afternoon.







Wegher, who didn't play a down this year, set an Iowa freshman record in
2009 when he rushed for eight touchdowns. He also ran for 641 yards
averaging 4.0 yards per carry. He added a 32-yard TD scamper in the 2010
Orange Bowl win over Georgia Tech.



Wegher left the squad soon after the start of this last season's fall camp in August. Sooner fans haven't seen a White feature back since Steve Owens in 1969. Bob Stoops has been a rigid caste system devotee in his tenure at OU. Good luck to Brandon.

I have to assumeStoops has assured him he'll be given a chance to start and eventually get a scholarship, the minute one becomes available. I think he's from Iowa, so he would be paying the much higher out-of-state tuition, which makes this move even more questionable, if a full-ride isn't just around the corner

I think, regardless of the promises he might've received, he's got himself into a bad situation, with this rigid-caste clown (Stoops). Either they will make him a suddenly trendy Danny Woodhead/Matt Sczur/Wes Welker jack-of-all-trades (WR/TB/KR/PR, ST coverage), who is never the feature back, but plays a lot...or he will eventually have to transfer again to play -- perhaps down a level to 1-AA, i.e. Northern Iowa?Edited by: Truthteller

Of all the schools he could have gone to why Oklahoma......geez.....this won't play out well I'm afraid, but I wish him the best of luck. If Stoops starts him over one of the chosen RBs it will create a lockeroom problem.

Not a good decision for Brandon, imho. Oklahoma is one of the worst programs he could have chosen to walk on to. It would be great to see him get a lot of playing time there, but I just don't see it happening.

Some good points made here. Stoops doesn't seem to go against the conventional grain when it comes to playing White guys beyond QB, OL, TE, kicker, maybe LB here and there.

Hopefully Brandon can Bust the Caste door open at OU. Not overly optimistic though, but all we can do is hope and write annoying emails to Stoops email opener making sure B.W. gets a fair shot.

OU should be loaded next year and in the running for NC.
No doubt though that Iowa's depth chart would have been MUCH better for Brandon to get some playing time at TB.
Iowa will be thin at RB next year.

Let's keep a watchful eye and try to make sure BW gets a fair shot next year if he is even eligible to play.

Well some of our best athletes have been from Oklahoma, Jeremy Shockey, Wes Welker, Scott Case etc

OU didn't offer Shockey, same for Welker. Shockey was playing at a junior college and was noticed by a Miami scout looking at another guy, even then wanted him to bulk up to play TE and Welker only got a last second scholarship to Tech when an afflete changed his mind. There are more out there in Oklahoma that don't get the chance.
