Volek's even been deactivated for today's game. If it wasn't for Drew Bennett I might be hoping for a Kerry Collins injury so that Vince Young is forced into the game.

Typical caste system media report: "Vince Young, 3/4 in his debut." But as the saying goes, the Devil is in the details: Young is 3/4 for 27 yards and an INT in his pro-debut.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving club. And to think, the Titan's Qb's are being out played by a skinny white kid who has had two surgeries on his throwing shoulder.

I'm sure it has happened from time to time, but how often does a rookie quarterback get to see action in the very first game of the season? When it does happen it's due to injuries of the starter. I've seen better prospects than Vince Young sitting on the bench for eons beforegetting a shot. He's already been on the field nearly as much as Aaron Rodgers of the Packers who sat on the bench all of last year.

i dunno but Gradkowski got on for Bucs today after Simms' 3rd int... and Grad isn't as high profile as Young (although he just might be better and... faster than him)

Collins is a drunk

VY is just plain stupid.

Put Volek in, he deserves the chance. I still can't believe they would get Collins the Irish drunk to stand in for a strong German man. What is this country coming to.

LOL @ volekforqb! First the Slavs, now he's insulting the Irish, too!

Let me guess - the Irish aren't white, either?

Have you ever SEEN an Irishman?? You can't BE any whiter than an Irishman!

TOO FUNNY!

San Diego Chargers announced Tuesday, Sept. 19, that they have acquired QB Billy Volek (Titans) from the Tennessee Titans for a 2007 sixth-round draft pick. The draft choice could become a fifth-round choice if Volek participates in 50 percent of the team's total offensive plays this season.

6th round? wow, Chargers made a great deal! but why do they even need it, having Rivers there? Volek will inevitably become a backup, at least for now... shame

Give him one excuse one bad game, one injury blah blah blah and then you will see a QB of a much different color

He's already had two. The thing is, Young is worse than Collins right now, so they're stuck with Kerry til 'the future' is ready to play.

Fisher blasts Volek
The Tennessean said:
A day after Billy Volek said he "got a raw deal" from the Titans, Coach Jeff Fisher blasted the quarterback who was traded Tuesday to San Diego, indicating Volek had failed to do what was necessary to graduate from backup to starter.

Fisher said Volek had lied to him about his whereabouts once during organized team activities and then rather than welcoming competition when the Titans brought in Kerry Collins immediately asked out.

Those developments did not please the franchise, said Fisher, who typically reserves comments on in-house matters and protects players.

But he said he was compelled to speak out "in an effort to set the record straight, to protect this organization and to protect this coaching staff."

Fisher talked about agent Drew Rosenhaus' appearance in Nashville last summer when he made a public trade request and indicated that after that appearance, Volek gave a less than complete effort.

"It's up for question whether or not he really committed himself last year," Fisher said.

The coach talked about the distinct difference between the backup and starter roles.

"Billy's first week as a starter basically, he was untruthful with me, untruthful with his head coach, about where he was and what he was doing," Fisher said. "So we started off on the wrong page, and that did not set well with me."

The day Collins arrived, Volek met with Fisher and General Manager Floyd Reese and again demanded a trade.

Because of the way Volek reacted to competition, Fisher said the coaching staff unanimously wanted grant Volek's request and move ahead with Collins.

"Billy never one time said 'I'm here to compete,'" Fisher said. "I'm very sorry that Billy misunderstood the situation but we were very, very clear from the get go."

Fisher said he and his staff were reluctant to play someone who demanded to be traded time after time.

Finally, Fisher said in his final meeting with Volek on Tuesday they both agreed to say only good things and wish each other well.

"That's exactly what he told me in front of his wife, that there were no hard feelings, absolutely nothing," Fisher said. "Then he felt compelled to set the record straight, which is not accurate. His record and his comments were not accurate ...

"As Billy felt he was thrown under the bus, he threw this organization under the bus along with a number of his teammates."

Fisher made a huge deal today about Volek's work ethic and reluctance to face competition during his press conference today. This is the same Volek who took about 90% of the practice snaps for the Titans over the past 5 seasons because NcNair was always too hurt to practice but always managed to recover on game day (a practice for which he was lavishly praised by his coaches and the media). The same Volek who lost a spleen QBing for the Titans.

Fisher is saying he decided to bench Volek after he wanted a trade when they brought in Collins (which is funny because the day he was brought in at $2 million he was proclaimed the starter) and Fisher claims Volek lied about where he was one day. Fisher wouldn't elaborate about this alleged incident. Again this is funny because Pac Man Jones aked permission to miss practice one day to attend a funeral and he was arrested at 2 am at a local barafter getting in an altercation and spitting on a woman. Nothing from Fisher about this.

The seat is so hot for Fisher he feels he must try to tarnish the rep of Volek. PATHETIC!

All this and Tennessee has real chance to win this week as they go up against Duante Culpepper. He just might keep the Titans from going 0-16. If Vince Young starts it should be real entertaining; dueling retarded banjos.

Tip of the week: Take the under in this game.

Wow, what a joke Fischer is, I have never liekd the guy but now I hope this season is his last coaching. 2 years ago Volek is all the rage and waited patiently for his turn and performed well whenever called upon. I hope Volek comes out with a rebuttle, I really do because Fischer is a backstabbing, lying scoundrel.

The franchise has jerked Volek around his whole time there. Playing McNair when he sucked, then drafting Young instead of going for a more pressing need, they bring in the washed up Collins and give him the starting job, totally unearned.

The whole thing was a set up to get Young in, pandering to the PC crowd. They dump Volek, and to San Diego, they are probably hoping he is stuck behind Rivers so he won't play and show everybody what asses they are, and to top it off after all that bad treatment they bad mouth the guy as he goes. Wanna bet it is just a pre emptive strike to try and silence Volek up from talking about what what went on in Tennessee?

I heard an interesting take on the radio the other day on why Daunte is a sitting duck in the pocket. The host said if you watched all of his big bombs he scrambled out and bought time and heaved it up to one of his wideouts. Since he blewout his knee he can't run anymore and is overwhelmed in the pocket. He looks like a deer in the headlights, where is David Woodley when you need him....
