unless Boiling runs alot faster Laird is going to eat him alive in the 200m final. Shame Steiner is not in the 200m.

No matter what happens remember that Matthew Boling is only a freshman while Laird is a senior. Laird has incredible talent and should make the Olympic Team but remember that Boling
beat him indoors over 200 meters even with bad form on the outside lane. This should tell anyone what Bolings Massive Potential is going to be in the future. When he can learn to run with
better form similar to Laird it's scary to just think about how fast he will become? We are looking at a sprinter with that 1% of genetics we all can only dream of. So no matter what happens this
weekend we all know Boling is the future and he will amaze the world in time. He already has many times and he is just a kid. He just may eventually become the face of track and field in sprinting
if he acheives someday what he is capable of. The hardest part is for his fans worldwide to be patient!

WL I dont disagree with what you said at all. Yes Boiling will get better as he cleans up his form, matures etc. But I am only saying he will get beaten this weekend if he is unable to put down a time faster than 20.21 in the 200m. Having said that, he is like we all know an incredible talent and if he loses this weekend he will come back even stronger as he is mentally very tough. He has my support always/ btw he is a sophomore not a freshman.

Here is the video of 21 year old Lorenzo Patta winning the 100 meters in his first race in Italy in a new personal best time of 10.13! Keep a close eye on this kid this year. He needs to add some strength
but he has a very bright future ahead of him. I would say he is one of the top 3 Italian Sprinters already and we haven't seen anything yet. He is just getting started!

can I give a heads up to 3rd place-getter here Matteo Meluzzo who, with 10.25, ran a 1/4 second PB and is still only 18 years old.

Yes I meant to post about him too but you beat me to it. Thanks mastermulti. Even Patta is still 20 but will be 21 this month so I'm already saying he is 21. They have a very bright future
in Italy and this will only inspire more of the Italian Youth to take up sprinting. Exciting times indeed.

Yes Freedom Bellissimo indeed for the win. I'm a life long pasta lover myself so this makes it even better. Maybe why the Sopranos are living large and in charge! Lol.

Patta is so slight of build! he reminds me of sprinters from days gone by rather than having the musculature of the modern sprinter. i wonder how this will change/impact his future?

Jan Volko ran in the video above, i see, in what has to be a disappointing time for him. hopefully, he can return to the form we have seen from him in recent years.

another sprinter we cheer for that i’ve seen no news of this outdoor season is Emile Erasmus from South Africa. his father has posted here numerous times in the past, but i haven’t seen him on the forums in a good while, either. i certainly hope all is well with them, which obviously isn’t guaranteed with how unstable things are in their country.

Long jump: Claire Bryant FR Florida State takes second 6.71m(2.2m/s) at the SEC outdoors. The winner had a 6.80m with a 4.4m/s wind. So Claire shows to be the real winner.

Cole Beck was the fastest qualifier in the 100m at the ACC Championships.
Very good time of 10.23 with only 0.9 wind.
Let's hope he has an even faster time in the tank for the finals.

I didn't think they ran till later tonight. Damn I missed it! He also qualified for the finals of the 200 meters yesterday. Fine showing by the junior Cole Beck so far!

At the Pac 12 Championships, Harrison Schrage of UCLA was the 2nd leading qualifier in the 200m.
Usually he is a long jumper. His time was 20.81. Austin Kratz was the 3rd leading qualifier.
On the women's side, Shae Anderson was the leading qualifier in the 400m Hurdles.

Matt Boling 10.21(+1.3m/s) to win heat 1

Matt finishes second in qualifying. The good thing is the 100m final is only One Hour before the 200m final tomorrow, so this gives the stronger Matt the edge over Laird.
Matt is classified as a FR outdoors and Laird is classed JR because of covid shutdown last season.

Obviously I would love to see Boling win both races but if he is to lose I would rather have him lose in the 200 meters. He needs to prove that the 10.11 from over a year ago was not a fluke along with the 9.98 wind, etc. I think
for his confidence going forward he needs to break out a really fast time in the 100 tommorow. It will take a p.b. most likely if he is to win over both distances as Laird has a 10.06 from a few weeks ago and has went sub 20 outdoors.

We will see. Matt is so much stronger than Laird I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win both or at least being drawn out to new PB’s in both events.


Alex Spyridonidis from Hanover takes second in the Decathlon for Auburn.
Daniel Spejcher USA takes third for Arkansas in the multi-event.
Big Estonian Karel Tilga Georgia was allowed to run the stand alone 110h. I like that the coaches let him get ready to try to make the Estonian Decathlon Team and didn’t use him as a point grabber here.

Georgi Nachev Bulgaria and UMissouri goes tomorrow in the Men’s Triple Jump where he should get Top Three.

Boling looked good, but honestly Laird looked better.

I'm very disapointed in Kristoffer Hari. He only ran a 10.55 so with one year of track left he just keeps being stuck in neutral or going backwards. Another guy that was once the
fastest 15 year old in the history of the world who didn't pan out. Hari is very intelligent and he will be successful in life. It's just sad that he didn't make more of his athletic
talents while he was still young. He has his whole life to do make money. Maybe his heart just isn't into sprinting anymore.

I think he peaked early, as far as I remember he was coached by his pops who was a national level sprinter in a Eastern European country. He had world class or at least near world class coaching, he might not have had much room for improvement.

I couldn't find his 10.31 wind legal but this is him running 10.37 at 15 years of age. Blazing fast and it was all down hill from his teen days. Very sad and it does happen to many sprinters both black and white. They peak as a teenager and never get back to that level.

Yes, this happens more times than not.
If you look through the High Schoolers thread, about 80% of the names are never heard from again after high school....or at least never continue to improve.
I don't know why; I'm sure there are a number of reasons, but it does seem to be true.

Yes, the Kris Hari story is very strange. In his heat his body looked the same size as in his teen years, just fatter and with a beard. He hit his peak at 15 and just stayed there. Now he is regressing.

He did get a good start. Maybe he can still do some damage in the 60 indoors.
