2021 Track Season Results

Yes, Marybeth Sant (Price) is still running.
She ran 11.44 in a race this past weekend in California.
I'm hoping she can get her times down a bit, and make the finals or semi-finals at the Olympic Trials.

Payton Chadwick is also racing.
She ran a race in Florida I think.
Her time was something like 12.96.

thanks, jacknyc. good to know they’re still getting after it. Sant’s (former?) coach was convinced that she had sub-11 speed in the 100m, if she could just make some minor tweaks. how cool would it be, after all her injury and health issues, that she came back and accomplished that feat?!

Chadwick is so strong. i've frequently wondered why she doesn’t run the 100m, since she’s outstanding in both the 60 and 100 hurdles as well as the 200m.

I'm excited for this weekend. We have the Mt. Sac USATF Golden Games. It will be on May 9th which is mothers day. I won't be home till late that night but I'm excited
to watch some video replays of the mens and womens 100 meters. For the men we have Devin Quinn going for that wind legal sub 10 and preparing for the US Olympic Trials.
For the women Jenna Prandinni will be in the 100 so a sub 11 would be fantastic. It would be a great day if we saw both of them go sub 10 and sub 11. Hoping for the best and I'm
really excited to see how they both do.

Filippo Tortu will be opening up his outdoor season on May 13th at a meet in Italy. The meet has alot of talent and his teammate Marcel Jacobs will push him to levels Tortu will need for
the Olympics. If the conditions are right we should easily see a few of the top european 100 meters times even in his first race. This summer is gonna be hot on and off the track!

I would love to see MB Sant get her speed back and go sub 11 as her old coach thinks but realistically she is nowhere near that level anymore, I don't think she has run under her 11.25 she did as a teenager in 2013. I would love to see her go sub 11 but she has such a long way to go. I read recently she is only 5'1" and 100lbs and has squatted 350lbs, incredible strength to bodyweight ratio. I think Prandini has a shot but an outside shot at best in the 100m she has a better chance in the 200m. I also like Chadwick but in my opinion she needs to narrow her events down to 2 and focus solely on those 2.

Kris Hari ran a 10.37 in one of the prelims at the Arkansas Twilight with +3.4 wind, but didn't do anything in the final. Out of all the people we follow, he peaked the earliest in regard to age level.

Didn't take the other half LOL- I usually do my motorcycle tours solo - camp beside rivers, in forests etc - not many ladies "of an age" like that too much. That way never have to ask others when they'd like to stop, have lunch, where to stay, fill up with fuel etc - just blissful lone wolf exploring

Devin Quinn 10.22 didnt make the final.

They had 2 heats. Quinn missed the running in the finals by 1/100th of a second as the 8th qualifier in the other heat which had a better wind ran 10.21. I think he thought he was safe but these meet was stacked with talent.

I think she DNS the 100m as the 200m is her better event. She was in contention at about 175m but tightened up and finished 4th in 22.30. interestingly enough that Felix 1 of only 2 negro athletes I appreciate finished strong to nip Prandini at the line to finish 2nd(22.26), Irby was third in 22.27. In the womens 800m Reekie and Muir finished 1-2 ahead of mudshark Bishop. Reekie set a PB in this race. Here is a picture of her running indoors. Chadwick finished 8th in the ladies 100m(13.05).

In a surprising twist Canada's Julie-Anne Staehli won the womens 5000m in an Olympic qualifying time! Well done!

What a warrior. Liz Clay has the heart of the champion no matter where she ends up in Tokyo and in life. To have that kind of courage, strength and focus is very rare. I will be rooting for her to make the finals at the olympics. No
one is more deserving of this opportunity. So many injuries yet she kept going and going. Inspirationsal. Thanks for posting this article mastermulti.

In regards to my previous post I reposted above this sentence. Not sure why but Tortu pulled out of the meet. It's a shame as the conditions were perfect for sprinting. Lamont Marcell Jacobs
broke Tortus Italian 100 meter record running a time of 9.95 +1.5. So that's the bad news although great for Jacobs. Tortu finally has a sprinter equal to or slightly above his level. This is a good
thing and that is what Lemaitre needed when he was young and healthy but he never raced against guys at his level most of the time so he regressed. This will only help Tortu in the long run.

The best news is we have another young Italian Sprinter to watch out for. 21 year old Lorenzo Patta won the meet running a wind legal time of 10.13 in the finals as Jacobs only ran in the prelims. This
is after running a slightly windy 10.18 earlier. So the young Patta has arrived and I must say that Italy is gonna have a very good 4 x 100 Relay Squad for the Olympics! I'm excited to see how Lorenzon Patta
progresses. Here is a picture of him from a while back as he has been rising up the junior ranks for years and now has arrived as another guy to push Tortu!

speaking of young White sprinters being challenged, Matt Boling (UGA) will face off with Terrance Laird (LSU) in FOUR events this weekend: 100m, 200m, 4x100, and 4x400. it’ll be fun to see these two young talents push each other to new heights. obviously, i’m hoping Boling will rise to the occasion and continue to emerge as THE sprinting force at the collegiate level.

I read that news about Tortu's record going down. Gotta hand it to Lamont Jacobs - he's put in the work and kept closing the gap little by little. He competes much more than Tortu by the looks of it. Yes W/L, they could well run 37's in the 4 x 100 this year - I'd love to see that because of the way the Italians rejoice when doing something special on the track

Well, I am not surprised that Jacobs has surpassed Tortu. He's been closing in on him over the past few seasons, and had a great indoor season, and also had the fastest splits of anyone at the World Relays.
It's a situation that I had my eye on, and reminded me of the Lemaitre - Vicaut rivalry. I just hope that unlike Lemaitre, Tortu continues to improve, and that Jacobs will push him to higher heights.
Meanwhile, I hadn't heard of Lorenzo Patta. I'm glad they have another Italian in the mix.
Yes, they could be very tough in the 4 x100m relay.

Meanwhile, Abby Steiner is not on the start list for the 200m. She hasn't run at all this outdoor season. I assume she's injured.

I started the thread and will very happily change it. I want to wait until after this weekend as he has the finals in the 200 meters and 2 more races in the individual 100 meters
to go along with the two Relay Teams he races on . I expect him to get down close to the low 20 second range at the very least if the conditons are good!

I read that Tortu withdrew from the Savona meet because of muscle fatigue from the World Relays.
I hope that's wrong, because Jacobs ran in the same relay races, and he set a National Record. So it sounds pretty lame.
Speaking of which, Lemaitre ran the 200m at Savonna and looked and ran terribly.
I guess he just does it for the money now. Gets paid to show up. He's not even pretending to try to win anymore.
