I think it's a combination of things...their awful draft picks over the past few years finally coming home to roost; Edelman's loss (proving he's more than just a Belichick "plug-and-play" receiver) who had established tremendous chemistry with Brady, always on the same page mentally (which will/can never be that way with a receiver like Dorsett); Amendola (who's somewhat a "poor man's" Edelman) but has the same chemistry with Brady, injured; and not using their best workhouse and dynamic back, Burkhead. Burkhead is the type that gets better the more he plays. He would usually tote the ball 20 to 30+ times a game while at Nebraska along with catching it out of the backfield. After Burkhead ripped off that 15-yard run, I thought they would finally ride him to victory, but they yanked him. That's not the right thing to do. I think the whole "running back by committee" thing is being overdone these days. NE looked schizo on offense last night...really bizarre.

Football Dad's bit on Edelman made me laugh. Chris Collinsworth set me on edge from the start. Babbling on about this so called " deep threat" Brandin Cooks labeling him as some sort of Messiah makes me think this ******* didn't get the memo that the Patriots won last years SB with a terrific deep threat presence in Chris Hogan. But the most ABSURD MOMENT of the night revolved around "should he be playing given his past" Tyreek Hill. They displayed one of those simulcast (half ass thing if you ask me) things they often use at the combine and they had Hill virtual reality style running against the 200 M final runners at the Rio Olympics where our man from France bagged a medal. And they had this virtual reality Hill running close to the front of the pack. Whatever flaming ******* came up with this crap should be removed from broadcasting. What a pile of pure horse manure. To make it worse Collinsworth sounding like a woman having an orgasm squealed out the virtual reality Hill they showed was from his High School days. Come on get real. Hill would have NO chance competing with these Olympic athletes now. And certainly not while he was in High School. Needless to say from a pure caste stand point last night was a disaster. One game in and I already have a tension headache.

The Pats were thoroughly humiliated, but having watched almost every quarter of every Pats game since Wes Welker was signed in 2007, I can tell you this kind of pathetic showing seems to occur once or twice each season.

Unlike most teams, the Chiefs actually have very good defensive backs (Peters, Berry, etc), so I fully expect a "bounce back game" next week against the Saints.

I hope the primary reason that Burkhead was only on the field for 10 offensive snaps is because he was on some sort of "pitch count" due to whatever unknown injury he sustained about 2 weeks ago.

Alex Smith highly motivated and ready to sling the ball

Does anybody remember Chris Chandler? Steve McNair was drafted high in the 1st round by the Oilers, but Chandler played extremely well and kept McNair on the bench for two seasons. If Alex Smith, with this o-line, can excel to point of winning the big one a time or two, it wouldn't hurt my feelings. Just because. I'd rather a team with White skill players dominate, however any victory over the agenda driven system is worth it.

The Pats defense gave up a ton of yards though - that is the most worrisome thing about the game yesterday.

You wonder because it is only one game but the TV ratings for the game last night game fell 12% from last year's game. Of note CB Marcus Peters decided to sit out the Anthem. Some media outlets are already speculating that if these Anthem protests continue unabated the NFL money numbers will continue to decline which will put the bigwigs who run the NFL on steep notice. This could spiral out of control especially if the advertisers start pulling the plug. Indications are at this point in time things could get sticky and unless they can corral this Anthem situation the NFL will be mining unchartered territory. Many have argued that the Anthem stuff won't effect much over time but so far the only proof we have is that it has had a negative effect on the viewing numbers so I am not so sure that argument holds much water.
Time will tell. I sense people are sick of spoiled athletes acting like social justice warriors. But I am no expert on this so I will wait to see how the numbers fall over the first quarter of the season.
Additionally the ESPN troubles continue as more and more people are cutting their ties with them. Nearly a half million people pulled the plug in March.
Ultimately I also wonder if many fans have grown weary of the black centric sports world we now have lived in for such a long time?

A real headscratcher especially after last night's performance:

Patriots signed OLB Kyle Van Noy to a two-year contract extension.

His contract was set to expire at the end of the year. Acquired from the Lions last October, Van Noy spent most of last year as a rotational strong side linebacker but started on the inside in Thursday night's opener. The former second-round pick turned 26 in March.

Earlier in the game, Crissy was breathlessly stating how the Patriots' O-Line coach finally unlocked Marcus Cannon's "unlimited potential" and stated with a straight face that Cannon was now the Patriots' best lineman. WTF was he smoking? He looks just as bad as he always has. I guess Cannon's unlimited potential will have to wait until another day.

On the bright side, the Mahomes hype-train is done for now after a sensational game by Smith.

Yes their poor drafts have not yielded much. Their O-line misses Mankins and Vollmer (although neither have been around for a few years now). Hopefully Karras gets a call up to the 53 man roster. Defensively their front seven are pretty average and for a team boasting a supposed number 1 CB in Gilmore they gave up alot of passing yards last night. Their linebacking corp is garbage outside of the slightly above average Hightower.

Three of their recent draft picks are on IR - Cyrus Jones (who is looking like another Bama bust anyways), Malcolm Mitchell and their third rounder this year Derek Rivers. I think it is save to say is that the Patriots make up consists of signing players that other teams do not want - Welker, Woodhead and Amendola are prime examples of this. I hope that Burkhead becomes more involved in the offense. The draft history of the Pats leaves alot to be desired.

A few numbers some of you might find interesting about Edelman that completely refute the notion he is some nice little cog in the overall Patriots machine guided solely by Belichick and Brady. First a few bits about him.
Edelman broke into the league in 2009 and caught 37 passes as a rookie even though he was a QB in college. In 2010 he was somehow ignored.
In 2011 he primarily returned punts and in 2012 along with punts he added kickoff returns to his resume. He was quick, elusive, twitchy and nearly impossible to track in those days so the coaching staff worked him back into the offense. By 2014 he had become a serious weapon as a WR and we know the rest of the story.
Since 2014 with Edelman in the lineup the Pats were 34-6 and Brady had a passing rating of 106.9.
Since 2014 without Edelman the Pats were 4-5 and Brady had a passing rating of 86.4.
Below is an article that spans Edelman's career and while it is true that QB's usually get the most acclaim many in the media including the despicable Mike Golic have considered Edelman as a nice little junior league type of player. If Edelman was black he would have been compared to the gods like so many other black athletes. He is as GIFTED as they come and at least parts of the media are beginning to realize that now. The fact that he is smashing stereotypes at the so called black position of WR makes him very important in the caste scheme of things. And everyone knows he is one of the toughest most competitive players in the NFL. You can't take away a player with dazzling talent and expect the engine to run as smooth as before. I don't know as an example if you took John Lennon out of the Beatles do you think they would have been the same?

I'm very happy for Alex Smith. See how a "game manager" can play when he's behind a competent (all White ) offensive line. It was so insulting for the Chiefs to draft a Big 12 system qb with the 10th pick in the draft even though Alex Smith has been great for them. Since 2011 Alex Smith has a 60-25 record as a starter and a 94 passer rating. How is he still treated with so much disrespect? If he were black he'd be considered a unanimous top 5 qb by the media and the dwf. Btw how does Patrick Mahomes get drafted in the top 10 while Graham Harrell goes undrafted? Graham Harrell had a much more successful college career than Mahomes, he holds 8 NCAA passing records, and he has NFL size but all of his achievements were discounted because of the offensive system and conference he played in, but didn't Mahomes also play in the same conference and with a similar offense? I wonder what it could be.

Why should Elliot not play? The accusations against him look to be total bs and another example of Goodell having a personal grudge because the player fought the suspension. The case was turned into a total joke when he put Lisa Friel in charge of the investigation and didn't allow a ton of evidence that the girl was a liar. This Friel woman is a huge Giants fan and immediately wanted a 6 game suspension for Elliot but just last year only gave out a 1 game for Giants kicker Josh Brown. This is after it came out during the investigation that not only did Brown frequently beat his woman but even kept a journal about how powerful it made him feel. The witch is just a Giants homer out to screw over the Cowboys.

I'm not a huge Elliot fan and the dude needs to grow up,but there is no reason to suspend him because his trashy ex-cum dumster lied.

Bad start for the Patriots but they have proved before that they can put that all behind them. It was disappointing that neither Hogan or Burkhead were involved very much, but that is typical of the Patriots. Belichick will switch guys in and out until something clicks. And they did score 27 points, it's not like they were shut down. Their defense sucked which is typical of Patriot teams generally. Someone should tell Belichick that Rex would be a good subsitute for Edelman, I think he would really be good in that role.

Rex may excel at the role Christian McCaffrey is going to play, but like McCaffrey he needs to stay primarily a running back. He's a topnotch running back and we need Rex to run the ball a lot, like Christian, and maybe Woodhead and Zenner and a few fullbacks.

I disagree about Edelman being so essential to the team. Of course he's always been under-rated like all White receivers are, and dismissed as the product of a system, but Amendola is a helluva receiver in his own right. And Chris Hogan has superstar potential.

The defense may already be a lost cause, but that means New England will be in a lot of shootouts, which means Burkhead, Hogan, Amendola and Gronk can all put up big numbers this season. As long as the o-line is at least good there's no reason the Patriots offense won't take off, unless Brady has suddenly lost it, which I highly doubt. He had good accuracy and touch for the most part but was a little rusty and off like the rest of the team.

I was sure the Pats would be scouring the free agency list for linebackers and defensive ends this morning; instead they extend one of the main culprits of incompetence in last night's game. What exactly has he done to deserve prison time? I could give a flying **** less what color his or her skin is when you have a rejected gold digger trying to ruin a mans life. The bruises she posted was days after a bar brawl that was seen by multiple people and her own "girlfriend" refused to lie for her to the cops when she called them after not being allowed into his party. Screw Zeek and that whore but no reason to railroad a guy over a rejected gold diggers revenge.

The Pats are rusty, that's all.
It was Gronk's first game in ages.
Burkhead is new to the team. He started the game, and they tried to throw to him several times early on.
They all need to adjust and get used to each other at game speed, and they'll be fine.

Burkhead had bad luck with his 2 missed targets. The 1st was a play which should have been PI after the DB had his arm trapped while going for the catch. The 2nd target Rex had the LB beat easily on a deep end zone TD but Brady threw it short and Rex had to break and try to catch a ball at the pylons and didn't make it.

Once Brady has confidence in Rex i expect to see him and White play the majority of downs and Gillslee only used for short yardage. The game plans should change within the next few games,if it doesn't then the Pats aren't going to the SB this year.

No reason to give up on the Pats this early but if Danny has his usual injury problems then the offense isn't going to ever get going. I wonder if Rex could be shifted to the slot and get a few carries if Danny misses a week or 2 with a concussion? One way or the other i expect this to be Rex's worst game of the year and they have alot of potential to get better in the coming weeks.

Chiefs-Patriots clash draws lowest TV ratings for an NFL opener since 2009

The NFL opened the 2017 season Thursday night to its lowest television ratings in eight years.

NBC’s broadcast of the Kansas City Chiefs’ stunning 42-27 upset of the New England Patriots drew an overnight rating of 14.6. That’s down nearly 12% from the 16.5 posted by the Denver Broncos-Carolina Panthers season kickoff from a year ago.

That’s bad news for the NFL since the ratings had also dropped for the 2016 opener, down approximately 7% from the 17.7 rating posted the previous year, when the Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers played in the first game of the season.

This year’s opening-night ratings are the lowest since 2009, when the Steelers and Tennessee Titans drew a 12.8 rating.

I wonder what the excuse will be this year? I remember last year they told us the reason that ratings were down was because of the presidential election. We're supposed to believe that the DWF's were busy watching re-runs of Meet the Press and Fox News Sunday instead of their favorite teams. I'm betting that hurricanes and tropical storms will be one of the excuses trotted out this year. Because it definitely has nothing to do with this

1st Game guys. BB will make the adjustments. Not worried. Just hope Amadola comes back and Burkhead is unleashed next week. Hey, what ever happened to Polly Ana?

I am Polly Ana! Fear not, BB will make needed adjustments, as he has done so successfully in the past. I'm sure he has already planed to have a stinker game or two.

The game was a throw-away, or an extension of the preseason as means to test the new guys. No panic, but some reshuffling is in order (especially at Linebacker and Brady's right side).

Perhaps Cody Hollister will be activated to sub for the injured Amendola. I would like to see BB will pick-up a hybrid receiver in the mold of Welker, Woodhead or Edelman (I'm thinking Billingsly here).

When White men were the large majority in the NFL, blacks couldn't pull stunts like that. They would have been beaten up by their White teammates. But as the Permanent Cultural Revolution really took off in the late 1960s, all normal standards of conduct fell one by one. Now Whites are the minority in the league and know not to "act up" no matter how much their black teammates do, and they know that standing up to the kneelers and fisters will not only result in instant repercussions from their black teammates and the front office, but they will get the "Riley Cooper" treatment nationally. They have to go about their business with the expected deracinated humility, but there's no excuse for the White players that kneel in (anti-White) solidarity.
