2015-2016 College Basketball Season

I'm glad I checked the forums again today and found that they were back up and running! I figured I'd get the thread started for the new college basketball season. Still some great white players and teams to cheer for this year. I'll try to get a few breakdowns up later this week.


Also, Duke (who we can cheer for again this year) and Kentucky are playing on ESPN right now.

I love basketball, and I'm glad it's back. Although not as much as last year, there are still plenty of white stars to cheer on this year. As I mentioned, I'll try and get some previews up this weekend, when I have more time, but for now, I'll just post some stats from the first few nights of basketball. If you guys want to look at a player/team, feel free to!!

Duke might have lost last night, but Marshall Plumlee established himself as Duke's starting center, having a career day against Kentucky, setting a career high for rebounds (10), blocks (6), and tying a career high in points (12). After being written off by many pundits during the offseason who expected him to come off the bench for one of Duke's super athletes in either Sean Obi or Chase Jeter, Plumee and fellow forward Amile Jefferson relegated them both to the bench, with Jeter playing just 4 minutes (with 3 fouls and a TO in that span!!) while Obi picked up his 2nd did not play of the year. Plumlee also played the most minutes of any Duke player last night. I hope he finishes his career with a bang this year!! Meanwhile, Grayson Allen had a VERY off night against Kentucky, going 2-11 for 6 points to go with 4 fouls and TOs - ouch! I expect Allen to rebound though. Freshman guard Luke Kennard is still adjusting a bit to the college game, and I think he'll pick it up after being held to 2 points in 14 minutes. With 3 white guys in Duke's mostly 7 man rotation - go Blue Devils!!!

In the 2nd game of the Champion's Classic, I was pleasantly surprised at Michigan State's team. In addition to starting Matt Costello, who's looked good in the Spartans' first few games, they have also been giving more minutes to freshman two-guard Matt McQuaid. McQuaid was huge for Michigan State in the final minutes, hitting two big threes and blocking a shot to preserve the Spartan's win. Even Dick Vitale was raving about this kid. McQuaid played 22 minutes and finished with 9 points on 3-5 shooting. In addition to these two, senior forward Colby Wollenman also plays, though he's mainly in the game for rebounding and defense.

Stephen F. Austin has apparently forgot who's gotten them to the NCAA tournament the last few years; they start the season with just 1 white starter, preseason Conference Player of the Year Thomas Walkup. Walkup will be leaned on to carry the team this year, and he didn't disappoint in the Lumberjacks' 10 point loss at Northern Iowa, finishing with 30 points, 8 boards, and 3 assists.

Northern Iowa, meanwhile, was led by guards Paul Jesperson and Matt Bohannon, who had 15 points apiece in the win.

Wisconsin may not be as good (or as white) as last year, but their best players are still white men. Bronson Koenig returns as the team's point guard and leader. Zak Showalter takes over the "Josh Gasser" role, i.e. defense and doing the "dirty work" on the floor. Redshirt freshman Ethan Happ takes over the starting center spot at just 6'9. He's a good player who's got some potential. Happ and Koenig led the Badgers with 17 points apiece in their win over North Dakota.

I agree. It didn't help that the NCAA ruled freshman big man Andy Van Vliet ineligible. Wisconsin needs some offense. They have a tough time scoring.

good comments on Wisconsin. they're very young, both in age and in experience (as they play some upper classmen who've not seen many minutes). in Bo Ryan's program, he is very patient in developing players (Whites frequently mature later than blacks), and the best basketball of this group is very much in front of them. one of the youngsters to keep an eye on is Ethan Happ. if i recall correctly, the forward is only the third (or perhaps fourth) freshman to start the season opener since Bo Ryan has been at Wisconsin (though Happ redshirted last year). he's got talent.

it's also typical that the NCAA would screw a foreign White kid (Andy van Vleit). i'm "certain" he isn't academically comparable to all those biochemistry-mechanical engineering double-majors from Haiti, Nigeria, and "France" who are cropping up all over the collegiate landscape. *smirk*

Gonzaga returns what is probably the best frontline in all of college basketball:

- many people's pre-season PoY, Kyle Wiltjer is a scoring machine as a stretch four
- Przemek Karnowski is a HUGE man with nimble feet at center
- sophomore Domantas Sabonis is a FIERCE athlete attacking the basket on both ends

all three of the aforementioned players will be playing for money after they finish their collegiate careers. the Zags also feature athletic wing (and gifted passer) Kyle Dranginis.

Butler features one of the nation's elite backcourts with their three-guard lineup:

- baby-faced, cold-blooded scorer Kellen Dunham is among the top players in the nation
- point guard Tyler Lewis, a transfer from NC State, is arguably the nation's best passer ... as well as fast as hell
- the unconventional Roosevelt Jones (a black player) is the team's best post scorer despite being only 6-foot-4

undersized power forward Andrew Chrabascz is another matchup problem for opponents, as he can guard bigger players while also pulling them away from the basket with his ability to shoot from long range. Butler plays a couple of other White men off the bench.

Utah, while playing an unfortunately dark lineup, has perhaps the nation's most talented center, Jakob Poeltl. the Austrian is a true 7-footer who is very long and athletic. the NBA is definitely in his future.

I was actually about to post on Butler today, so thanks for mentioning them! I watched their games against Temple yesterday, and Missouri State Thursday. I completely agree with your comments. Watching Lewis live, I truly believe he is the best passer in the nation as well. He has some of the best court awareness I've ever seen. At just 5'11 160, he creates problems for the other team every time he steps on the court. Yesterday, he hit two big threes to keep Butler ahead of Temple late in the 2nd half as well. "Weird" how he never fit in at NC State. Dunham has been a great scorer for Butler since his freshman year, and will only be more effective this year with the addition of Lewis, as well the proficiency of other options like Jones and Chrabascz, which will help to lift some of the scoring burden off of him. I think Dunham could find a spot on an NBA roster; he's much quicker this year and looks to be more athletic this year. Chrabascz has only gotten better; I believe he's got a double double yesterday, and led the team in scoring against a very over matched Missouri State. I think Butler has the tools to make a run this year, with the aforementioned players.

A couple of other teams we should be able to cheer for this year:

Arizona - Despite losing TJ McConnell to the NBA, the Wildcats still start 2 white players, 7'0 center Kaleb Tarczewski, who should also be in the NBA next year. Tarczewski is the only player who returns from the Wildcat's Elite Eight team from last year. Joining him is 6'9 forward Mark Tollefsen, a graduate transfer from San Francisco. Tollefsen played great for the Dons, and hopefully will continue to do so as a Wildcat. Center Dusan Ristic and guard Elliott Pitts come off the bench again for Arizona.

Iowa - The Hawkeyes return three white starters, including point guard Mike Gesell, who's been very inconsistent throughout his career, as well as Adam Woodbury. The star of the team, however is senior forward Jarrod Uthoff. Uthoff is a HUGE matchup problem for opponents, and from what I've seen this year, has gotten better in the post. I hope Woodbury and Gesell are finally able to put everything together this year. If they do, this team will be VERY dangerous. Iowa gives time to two white guards (Brady Ellingson and Andrew Fleming) off the bench.

Northwestern - I haven't watched these guys yet, but they have a great sophomore guard in Bryant McIntosh. He is a very quick guard who has a scoring touch, pouring in 32 points in the team's OT vs. Columbia yesterday. Joining him as a starting is forward Alex Olah, who's the teams best interior player. Nate Taphorn and Gavin Skelly get time off the bench.


I'm sure Jimmy may find this surprising, Texas Tech transfer Dusty Hannahs currently leads the Razorbacks in scoring at over 19 PPG. Not surprisingly, Hannahs is the only white scholarship player on the roster. Nolan Richardson may have a heart attack if this keeps up.


In regards to the NCAA, they let Labissiere (Kentucky's Haitan recruit) play, and they'll probably let Kansas's Cheick Diallo (from Mali) play as well. Hell, they even granted a special waiver for UCF 7'6 center Tacko Fall (that's this guy's name...) play. Another white player that the NCAA is screwing over is Ohio State's Mickey Mitchell, who is also currently ineligible.

Also, in a couple of fun results for our guys this year that I've noticed:

Hofstra, with three white starters, beat perennially athletic Florida State, who only featured the towering Boris Bojanovsky in the starting lineup. Guard Brian Bernardi is one of Hofstra's best players and poured in 24 points to pace the Pride in the upset. Princeton transfer Denton Koon was equally important; he was second on the team with 15 points and also pulled down 11 boards.

On opening night last Friday, William and Mary, with four white starters, beat nearly all-black NC State, which featured scoring machine Maverick Rowan off the bench.

I think Fred Van Vleet (black player) should be up there with those two... him and Baker have been starting together for 3 years now. Also, 3 of the top 4 best players on the Shockers will be white when Kansas transfer Conner Frankamp becomes eligible for them in mid December.

Also Duke and Georgetown are on right now if anyone is curious... Again, the Dukies start Grayson Allen and Marshall Plumlee with Luke Kennard coming off the bench.

St. Mary's looked great last night against Stanford, winning 78-61 going away! BC transfer Joe Rahon carried the Gaels with a game-high 24 points to go with 6 boards. I hope they're able to get back into the tourney!

South Carolina is a team to cheer for this year, with two senior Lithuanian forwards leading the team. Laimonas Chatkevicius and Mindaugas Kacinas lead the team in scoring, with Chatkevicius at 16 PPG and Kacinas second on the team at 15 PPG. Kacinas is also first on the team in rebounding, grabbing nearly 7 boards per game. Chatkevicius is 4th at 5 boards per game. In Virgin Island tournament final against Hofstra, Kacinas led the team with 18 points and 5 boards, while Chatkevicius scored 17 points, also pulling down five boards. I'm going to have to make it a point to watch the Game****s this year with these two playing!!

Against all-black VCU, Bronson Koenig powered the Badgers to a 74-73 win, with Koenig getting the game-winning layup with 4 seconds left. Koenig led Wisconsin with 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ethan Happ and Zak Showalter were second and third in scoring, with 12 and 10 points respectively.


Butler really struggled against Miami and the refs yesterday in the Puerto Rico Championship, but both Roosevelt Jones and Kellan Dunham had steller games. Dunham led the Bulldogs with 23 points, heating up in the 2nd half to keep them close. Tyler Lewis and Andrew Chrabascz had off nights, and as a result, Butler couldn't quite pull off the comeback.

Jakob Poeltl completely dominated Temple in the Ute's 74-68 win. Poeltl finished with 32 points, 11 boards, and 3 blocks!! As Jimmy mentioned, Utah is very dark, but Poeltl makes them worth watching.

The last note for now... It looks like Vanderbilt is another team to cheer for this year. I'm watching them completely destroy St. John's at Maui right now. They start two white players and bring two more off the bench. Guard Riley LaChance is a play-maker who can knock down the three. Starting 7'0 forward Luke Kornet looks to have gotten better inside, but he also shoots 40% from three!! Go Commodores! Freshman sharpshooter Camron Justice comes off the bench, as well as forward Samir Sehic.

Marquette, led by talented freshman power forward Henry Ellenson and junior center Luke Fischer, an Indiana transfer, knocked off #22 LSU tonight.

LSU's best player is the deservedly-hyped mulatto "Australian" freshman point forward, Ben Simmons, and he was virtually all the commentators discussed (along with several cutaways to his black dad and mudshark mom in the stands). he is a terrific talent, however, and finished the game with 21 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Marquette's frontline, though, was unimpressed, and repeatedly attacked the rim on both ends of the court (and played through an abundance of defending-while-White fouls). Ellenson finished with 16 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, and Fischer poured in a team-high 19 points (including several highlight dunks) and 8 boards.

Ellenson and Fischer were the only two "gym rats" to see the court in the game.

Good to see LSU go down to Marquette!! The media was hyping up LSU as a national championship contender earlier in the preseason. Simmons is good, but I don't think he can carry them all the way there.

Two more teams to watch: UCLA and UNLV.

UCLA features two white stars in combo guard Bryce Alford and 7'0 center Thomas Welsh, with one white player off the bench.

UNLV surprisingly features two white starters in the front court - 5 star 7'1 freshman center Stephen Zimmerman, and Oregon transfer Ben Carter. The two teams are playing on ESPN2 right now.

How about this for a game? Drake's Kale Abrahamson (a Northwestern transfer) scored 41 points tonight as the Bulldogs held off Western Kentucky in OT. He also added 7 boards. What a game!! Hopefully Drake starts getting better again; they start four white athletes.

St. Mary's not only starts five blue collar gym rats, they only have one "dynamic, electrifying" afflete on the roster. he gets a few garbage seconds in blowouts.

the Gaels feature a balanced, VERY unselfish team with their top 6 players routinely scoring in double figures. their backcourt offers a rare two-point-guard lineup, with both Joe Rahon (the star of the win over Stanford) and Emmett Naar (the team's leading scorer) capable of exploding on the box score. they are both impressive passers, with Naar averaging 6 assists per game and just 2 turnovers, and Rahon averaging 7 assists and just over 1 turnover per game.

a couple of other interesting notes on the Gaels:

- their roster has 6 players from Australia, including starters Naar and forward Dane Pineau (the team's leading rebounder at 8.3 rpg)
- only 2 players on the current roster saw any significant action for the team last year

this team doesn't play above the rim, but they share the ball (20 assists per game, 2-to-1 assist/turnover ratio as a team) and shoot it exceedingly well (over 54% from the floor and over 40% from 3-point range). i will obviously be cheering for this group this season.

All of this perceived athleticism isn't helping the all-black Huskies against in-state rival Gonzaga, who's on the verge of blowing them out with all of their unathletic gym rats, led by Kyle Wiltjer. Wiljter is leading the Zags with 18 points and 10 rebounds so far in the second half. Sabonis is second on the team with 13 points and 6 boards.

I caught the last 10 minutes of the game. Great to see those big men on the floor for Gonzaga. The excuses for Washington were non-stop - they are trying hard, they are a young team etc. Gonzaga a team to root for for sure.

Gonzaga wins 80-64 over all-black Washington. Kyle Wiltjer led the Zags with 24 points and 11 boards. Sabonis had 17 points and 9 rebounds. Karnowski had 12 and 6, while Kyle Dranginis had 5 points, 11 boards and 2 assists. Gonzaga is a very fun team to watch, I would highly recommend everybody do so if they get a chance.

Marquette won the Legends Classic last night with a win over Arizona State. The Golden Eagles were powered by their huge frontcourt of Henry Ellenson and Luke Fischer. Both players led the team with 18 points, with Ellenson grabbing 11 boards and Fischer getting 8. Henry's brother Wally got a few minutes off the bench at guard for them as well.

I've been busy as of late, so I didn't get to comment on a great week of hoops last week. But, I'll try to summarize a few important developments.

First is the emergence of Isaac Haas at center for Purdue. Haas has been the team's starting center this year after Coach Matt Painter benched "star" center AJ Hammons. Painter did this last year as well; to "motivate" Hammons by playing a white guy in front of him. The only difference this year is that Haas has simply been playing tremendous basketball to the point where even DWFs would question dropping him out of the starting lineup. Despite being in a timeshare with Hammons and only playing around 20 MPG, Haas is far and away the Boilermaker's leading scorer at 15 PPG. He's shooting a mind-blowing 75% from the field!! He's also 2nd on the team in rebounding at 6.5 boards per game. He's looking more and more like a future NBA prospect; it'll be interesting to see how he plays going forward. Haas and the Boilermakers (who also feature two white guards off the bench for 15-20 MPG) will be playing Pitt tonight on ESPN2 at 9 Eastern.

Next, and just as important, is BYU's Kyle Collinsworth, who set the NCAA record for triple doubles with the seventh of his career last Saturday against Belmont! In the Cougar's 95-81 win, Collinsworth led the Cougars with 26 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds. BYU (who again sports an all-white starting 5) is again a CF favorite. Freshman Nick Emery (the younger brother of Jackson Emery, who played with Jimmer Fredette) led BYU in scoring with 27 points!! Add the return of streaky sharpshooter Chase Fischer, and BYU again has a very dangerous backcourt. The Cougars also have some help in the paint this year in Utah State transfer Kyle Davis, who has given them some rebounding in the paint, collecting a double double against the Bruins with 11 points and 14 boards. Very physical center Corbin Kaufusi (who's part Somoan, but in basketball, he's pretty much identified and characterized as a white guy) is the other starter.

After a couple of years of playing all-black teams, it looks like Syracuse will be a team to root for this season. They feature only 2 white players, but they're two of the top players on the Orange. We all know about sharpshooter Trevor Cooney, who's a team leader. A guy you may not know much about is freshman forward Tyler Lydon. In addition to shooting over 50% from three so far this year, he also pulls down nearly 9 rebounds per game, good for second on the team. He doesn't start, but he's played over 30 MPG so far this year. I've even read an article where NBA teams are already looking at Lydon. He'll be key to the Orange's success this year.

Lastly, the reemergence of Duke's white players is another huge story line. The Dukies have two white starters in Grayson Allen, one of the best players in the country, and Marshall Plumlee, who most media members were hoping would be taking a back seat to super-frosh Chase Jeter and Rice transfer Sean Obi. Thus far, Plumlee's relegated Jeter to the bench for the most part, with the latter only playing spot minutes to give Plumlee a breather, with Obi not even featuring in some games. And last but not least, freshman sharpshooter Luke Kennard features off the bench for Coach K. Kennard had struggled for the early part of the year, but that ended Sunday against Utah State, tying Grayson Allen for the game-high in scoring, with each having 22 points. I don't here the sports-writers (like that douche Titus) saying how much fun it is to watch Duke again this year for some reason... It feels good to say it again: Go Duke!!

A few notes from the weekend games:

Butler had a slow first half, but managed to blow out SIU Edwardsville in the 2nd half at Hinkle Fieldhouse Saturday. Kellen Dunham tied a career high with 32 points in the win.

A fun result: Air Force (who starts 3 whites and plays a few off the bench) knocked off Marvin Menzies and his all-black New Mexico State team in OT, 66-64. If blacks are so much more athletic, how'd the Aggies lose to the much whiter Falcons?

St. Mary's continued their undefeated start, destroying Cal State Bakersfield 94-59 on Sunday.

Here are some games this week that might be of interest to CF...

I mentioned that Purdue will be playing Pitt at 9 Eastern tonight.

Michigan (who only starts one white guy but plays 3-4 off the bench) is currently playing NC State (who's criminally under utilizing freshman Maverick Rowan, who starts, but doesn't get enough of the ball). The Wolverines are fun too watch... as long as their black guards don't jack up a bunch of shots and actually share the ball.

Butler (with 3 white starters and a couple more whites off the bench) play thug coach Mick Cronin and perennially all-black Cincinnati Wednesday at 7 Eastern.

Syracuse (posted about them above) play Bronson Koenig and Wisconsin tomorrow at 7 as well.

Duke plays Indiana (who allows 3 whites to play off the bench) at 9 Eastern.

Iowa (3 white starters and 2-3 whites off the bench) play Florida State at 9 Eastern as well.

BYU plays towering center Jakob Poeltl and Utah Wednesday at 10.

Gonzaga plays in-state little brother Washington State at 11 Wednesday.

Kentucky goes out to play UCLA (two white starters with a third off the bench) Thursday at 9 PM.

Dunham has been lighting it up so far this year,he's put together quite a career as a Butler Bulldog. Definitely should be on NBA radars .
