Well, St. Mary's lost to Gonzaga in the WCC championship, and now, we're being told they won't be able to get in. WTF?? That's absolute BS. These are same morons who breathlessly tell us Monmouth is safe (read my post above), while the Gaels, who've had a great year, will be on the outside. This logic is ridiculous.
Not really. In the caste world, the Gaels are as good as they will ever be, they won't be able to "step up" to the next level of competition in the tournament. Monmouth, on the other hand, is loaded with athletic "upside". All of their players have the potential to be Michael Jordan or Stephen Curry once they decide that they want to. It sounds ridiculous, but that is EXACTLY the mindset of the "experts" and DWFs alike. And the black players, too, when it comes right down to it, just ask Jimmy Chitwood.

Unfortunately, that's one of the truest statements I've read on these boards. It's the same standard everywhere; when a white player doesn't develop, he's just not good enough, but when a black player doesn't it's because he didn't realize his potential. It's complete BS. At least most DWFs think it's absurd that ESPN is pushing teams like Monmouth and Syracuse into the dance over St. Mary's.

Syracuse just lost today, which should knock them out for good now.

Anyway, all of Duke's white players put on a clinic today, as the Blue Devils outlasted NC State 92-89. Luke Kennard tied with Brandon Ingram, scoring a team-high 22 points. Grayson Allen had 19, and Marshall Plumlee had a double double with 17 points and 10 boards.

This is gonna be a fairly dark year for mid-majors; of a lot of the games I watched, most of them only have one white starter. In the Patriot League, which usually gets a very white team in, Holy Cross has their automatic bid, with an all-black starting five. Weber State just won the Big Sky bid with a grand total of 1 white starter. The C-USA bid has no white starters. Belmont was upset; their conference has a team with no white starters. Florida Gulf Coast has really fallen from their Sweet 16 Dunk City run, only 2 white athletes see the floor for them. Fresno State (with 0 white starters) won the Mountain West. The A-10 tourney winner will have 0 white contributors. Green Bay comes out of the usually palatable Horizon League with 0 white starters. UNC-Wilmington beat two majority white teams in Hofstra and William & Mary to clinch their bid; they have one white starter. Stony Brook (one white starter) won the America East, a league which usually sends Vermont or Albany to the Dance.

I guess I don't care as much; nearly all of these teams are going to get slaughtered. Hopefully, Wichita State and St. Mary's make it in. Yale (3 white starters) will also be a threat for an upset.

I think Freethinker had posted a year or two ago about New Mexico State, and how they play no white players, but manage to find blacks from every corner of the globe. They've got a bunch of players from Canada and France (apparently, white players don't exsist there anymore), along with Cameroon and Columbia. Many expected them to be a dangerous team in the Big Dance. However, they were mercifully beat last night, and thus won't be in the Tourney this year! They lost on a buzzer-beating three no less; I couldn't think of a better way for Menzies and his racist team to be eliminated.

Hahaha, yes I did. I was appalled to see how they could import non-whites from some obscure places knowing how many talented whites here in the USA are forced to play in DII or simply stop playing after HS. They are easily as disgusting as a Kentucky or Georgetown. I'm very happy they are out!

I agree. Any mid-major like them that manages to struggle with an all-black lineup should really look themselves in the mirror. I think to an extent they have, as most teams I've watched playing seem to have a white starter or a couple of white role players nowadays. I believe this is the cause for the number of teams that aren't as "white-friendly" as they have been. I don't think the number of white players has diminished all that much yet, but they are now so spread out amongst the teams, you don't get those teams with a lot of white depth. Of course, the number of white players on these "scouting" sites are kept artificially low as well.

The Selection Show is coming up pretty soon. Michigan State just won the Big 10. I watched that game, and in addition to Costello, Matt McQuaid and Colby Wollenman got a lot of burn. If they keep playing with this lineup, they'll be our best rooting interest for a top-line team.

Well, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, and Michigan are in the brackets. St. Mary's is likely screwed. Absolutely ridiculous a sh*t team like Tulsa made it. Even the analysts are critical of the choice.

Didn't St. Marys have only like 6 or 7 losses this season?

Yes. However, they didn't schedule many tough teams, which the committee used against them. I still think they should've made it, especially with Syracuse, Tulsa, and Michigan making it in. Still a screw job they didn't make it.

I know Freethinker and I are planning to do the bracket breakdowns again this year, but I'll give a few teams that to root for:

Wichita State, Butler, Oregon State, Duke, Yale, South Dakota State, Gonzaga, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State (in terms of "top" teams), Michigan, Notre Dame, Northern Iowa, and Indiana all to my knowledge play 3+ white players in a given game.
