2014 Outdoor Season

Other than Lemaitre and his sub par performances so far I am very dissapointed in several other things so far in 2014.

1 Ramil Guliyev wasted away elite talent and rarely runs anymore. He now runs high school times on the rare occasions he steps on
the track. What a tragedy. He ran 20.04 at 18/19 years of age. He made it look so easy. Where have you gone "Rocket" Ramil?

2 Rytis Sakaulauskas who also was a sub 10 threat a few years back has raced once all year. Has he lost his desire to race? It makes me wonder.

3 Where the hell is Michael Tumi? He won bronze at the indoor champs a couple of years ago. Tumi was running times of around 6.51 and 6.52 like it was a jog in the park. He opened up last summer with a 10.19 and it went down hill since then. I haven't seen him compete once this year. He is still young but unless he has had serious injuries it would make you think he has retired. Very strange. What a waste of talent so far. I keep hoping to read something about him.

I could list a few more but those three are my biggest complaints so far in the early summer. Hoping for some fireworks as we get closer
to the European Championships.

He has a slight injury but in my opinion it's becasue they know he is in poor condition still. His legs should not still feel heavy this far into the season. I blame his coach for not doing the adequate training. I do think it's a smart move though as he had no chance of winning or even coming close. He needs to get in better shape and he needs to do it quickly.

Gemeli and Kilty will both be running in Olso over 100 meters. Kilty said he had severe jet lag last week and in his opinion it affected his performance. He should be ready for this week. I expect Gemeli to break his p.b this thursday. I think he will go sub 10. I hope Kilty has a good race too.

Probably, but this can be good...his heavy legs sounds like overtraining. This rest may allow his body to adapt and heal...otherwise his coaches are good, not great....but a great athlete like Lemaitre needs a great coach, otherwise he will never peak to his full potential.

Guliyev has issues...there is no spotlight on him so we dont know his personality, but juding the hard time Azerbajn had letting him go to Turkey, the death of his father who coached him...this adds up..plus, I doubt there are any elite Turkish coaches of sprinters, and probably have no idea what to do with a guy who is as almost or was talented like Lemaitre.

the NCAA 2014 Outdoor Track and Field Championships start tomorrow and run from June 11-14 in Eugene, OR.

the opening day features the semifinals of both the men's and women's 100-meters, where White athletes are positioned to possibly medal. John Teeters (10.11 windy) was the fastest qualifier in the men's 100-meters from the West Region. on the women's side Jenna Prandini (11.17) was also the West's fastest qualifier, and Katie Wise (11.18 windy) was the second-fastest qualifier in the East Region.

the men's semifinal is scheduled to start at 3:30 US central time, with the ladies' right after at 3:45.

my favorite race, the 400-meter sprint has its semis just before the 100. two White sophomores qualified from the West: Zack Bilderback of Texas (45.70) and Cody Rush of Nebraska (46.12). from the East Region, two Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the lone White qualifiers on the men's side: senior Patrick Freeney (45.60) and junior Christopher Giesting (45.66).

on the ladies' side, Notre Dame senior Michelle Brown (52.13) is the only White athlete who qualified.

Maybe Ramil is rounding into form. Over the last few seasons he has been lightly raced for the reasons stated above. But running 21 flat and a mid 10.X are club level sprinter times. Back when he ran 20.0X and 10.0X who would have thought that he would be running slower times than when he was a teenager who was in a major final in the deuce...

During the summer there's track meets across Europe nearly every day of the week.
Today in Oslo, Norway, Adam Gemeli ran 10.11 for 3rd place. Not a great time for him, but he was fairly close to Jimmy Vicaut (2nd in 10.05), and well ahead of Ndure who just ran a 9.95 a week or two ago.
Richard Kilty and Danny Talbot did not perform as well.

In my honest opinion, Prandini should get the NCAA Womens Track Athlete of the Year. She just does everything and she is incredible at just about everything. Not to mention she is a very beautiful lady who is also very intelligent. Congrats to Jenna on winning her heat today. Good luck to Prandinni the finals. I'm hoping for a top 3 at minimum. Get a medal nationally in the 100 meters!

I'm dissapointed in the race of Talbot and Kilty. That should have performed way better than that. No excuses they just were average today.

Reus has raced 4 times in 5 days. Serious fatigue but I'm more than happy with the 10.28 today. He will peak when it is time. He is a master at working himself into shape. Still hoping for him to join the sub 10 club later this summer when he is in peak condition if he can get some warm weather and a nice tailwind hopefully. I do think he can do it without one but it will be alot more difficult.

It's weird but I looked at the results of the race in Germany and they had Reus listed as winning in a time of 10.26 not 10.28. Not that it makes much difference. As far as world standards go in pro sprinting, it's average. Mark my words though. Julian Reus will go sub 10 in either July or August. I have a very strong feeling on this. If only I could lay some money in Vegas and win with some odds if and when he does it.

It's nice to hear about Rodriguez but it's the times of Guliyev that are shocking to me. He now is running faster than Lemaitre
has run this year over 100 meters. Where did this come from? I'm speechless. Wow what a quick turnaround. I hope he is
careful though not to over race in such a short period of time. The same could be said for Kilty and Reus. You have to give your
body enough time to recover or the risk of injury is very high.

Simone Collio 9.97 100 meters in Rome today. WInd was 2.7 however.

I can't find this time on any 'lists' anywhere.
In fact cannot find any record of Collio racing at all this year.

I can only see him running this one race and the time was more like those of a senior sprinter although there was alot of wind. Father time can be cruel unless you cheat like Kim Collins, Dwain Chambers and many other old men who defy nature.

In the German Under 23 Champs today we had a 100 meters final between Domogala and Polkowski. What a race it was!

"Patrick Domogala succeed revenge".

"I knew I had won, but wanted to wait for a confirmation," said Patrick Domogala (MTG Mannheim), why he stopped short at the finish, before he broke out in understandable jubilation. 10.34 seconds, the clocks were for him, 10.37 seconds for the winning last year Robert Polkowski (LT DSHS Cologne). "It was clear that it would be tight. Robert is strong. Last year he hit me and I have said this morning at breakfast too my boys, I want a second time Second be here," commented the Mannheimer, which has as well as his opponent from the cathedral city in Florida prepared for the season. "After the supply voltage was somehow gone. I have nothing made before the final, just went to the starting line, but had been very well set by the trainer. I worked back out hard," said Patrick Domogala. Bastian Jacks (LV 90 Ore; 10.53 sec) took third place hk.

Bodarenko does it again with a tie for the 2nd highest jump in the history of track & field! Wow does this guy have some springs. Can you just imagine him on a basketball court? Amazing competition today. Barshim also equaled him in New York.

Another Guliyev Sighting in Goteborg today. He is over racing in my opinion but damn is it good to see him out there again.
