I have followed Greg's career since 2006 when he was a 8.26 jumper and he said he would soon do "a big jump" - implying over 8.50. I was beginning to think he was not up to it but this is great news.

All great times by the German Sprinters. Martin Keller actually won the B Race 100 Meters Final running a 10.20 wind legal. Very nice improvemnt from last weekend where he looked terrible. Granted the conditions were perfect but still a step in the right direction.

Danny Talbot looked good for England over both 100 & 200 Meters. He ran 10.17 & 20.48! This kid is really starting to become world class. Richard Kilty made his first appearance outdoors over 200 meters and he ran average but he will focus on the 100 this season to get that sub 10! I can't wait to see Michael Tumi, Christophe Lemaitre and Ramil Guliyev start their outdoor seasons.

Thanks for posting those times RCSMAN. Kilty missed out by not running the 100 today. Perfect sprinting conditions. Who knows how fast he could have run? He is in for a great year. Anyone know when Rytis Saukalauskas is gonna run?

Well, sirs, I'll match your John Teeters and raise you one Jenna Prandini. She ran an unbelievable 11.11 to blow away everyone at Mt. Sac. ...

Jenna's time is the fastest collegian thus far this year, and 3rd fastest US woman overall. Looks to be a big year for her!

p.s. the fastest time ever by a white American female....

RCSMAN, would you mind translating this video? It seems Lemaitre made some major changes in his training approach, can you translate on what he is doing differently? I am very curious.

thanks, I know we dont see eye to eye, but we both hope for Lemaitre's success

Katie Wise (also a sophomore) ran a 11.33 at the Drake Relays which also puts her among the top collegian sprinters this season.

Going into this season, I thought it was going to be one of the worst in recent years.
Jeremy Wariner was obviously done. Christophe Lemaitre continued to regress and disappoint. And basically no world class prospects in sight in the sprints.

Then, suddenly, Richard Kilty surprises everyone with a gold medal at the World Indoor Championships. (Pavel Maslek was also a winner in the 400m, although it wasn't so surprising.)

Meanwhile, the US scene seemed more dismal than I can ever remember. I couldn't think of even one short sprinter to root for, and I follow track pretty closely.
Then John Teeters comes out of literally nowhere! and runs a 10.14 (3rd fastest in the US). Never even heard of this guy before and now he is one of the fastest white American men ever.
Brandon Byram had been MIA since graduating college, but suddenly showed up at a meet in Florida and blasted to a 20.27 in the 200m (3rd fastest in the US).
Similarly, at the high school level, Curtis Godin, in just his 2nd season of sprinting, improves by leaps and bounds to run a 10.36 at an all star meet. 3rd fastest HSer in the US, and fastest in California. This kid looks great, and hasn't lost a 100m race all season.
Another amazing surprise - Corey Crawford of Rutgers in the long jump. Although white European and Aussie jumpers have been doing incredibly well recently, it had been 2 decades or more since a white American male jumped at a world class level. Corey changed all that with a super jump of 26' 11-3/4" (2nd farthest in the US) and a win at the Penn Relays.
Finally, Jenna Prandini, who admittedly was on the radar, made a huge leap from pretty good collegiate sprinter to world class sprinter with an amazing early season time of 11.11. That's the 3rd fastest time in the US. She may have the most long term potential of all of these, and she's just a sophomore.

So in the US, we went from nothing to:
John Teeters 100m - 3rd fastest in the US
Jenna Prandini 100m - 3rd fastest in the US
Curtis Godin 100m - 3rd fastest HSer in the US
Brandon Byram 200m - 3rd fastest in the US
Corey Crawford LJ - 2nd farthest in the US
AMAZING!
I hope there are more incredible performances and performers to come. This season may go from seemingly one of the worst, to one of the best ever!

You took the words out of my mouth jacknyc. I've working way too much and I hoping I will soon have more time to enjoy one of my favorite sports in the world. The american track & field scene has not been this exciting in decades.

Kilty is going to open up his season on May 17th in England. I believe it's called the Great City Games. He is in for a magical season barring injury. I want him to go sub 10 so bad. I can taste the bubbly already. It's waiting on ice to celebrate the next euro to go under this magical mark. The more guys that do it, the more confidence will grow.

I'm pumped for so many different athletes. Lemaitre opens his season next week at the Interclubs.

I think as much as any other athlete, I'm hoping Kristoffer Hari can continue his assault on history. The kid is incredible. Hoping for another excellent season to prove he is for real and that he will continue to progress in his march towards history.

I would love to see Prandinni go sub 11 in the 100. Can you just imagine that? An white american sprinter with a chance to go to the olympics someday.

Too many great performances and hopefully just the tip of the iceberg. Here is to an incredible summer track season!

It's on Flotrack, but you have to pay to watch it.
Perhaps it will become free in a few days when the meet is over.

By the way, 10.14 may tie the fastest time ever run by a white American. I know Kevin Little ran that time. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who has run faster.

Here is video of John Teeter's race:

and of Jenna Prandini's

So that begs the question, who were the previous white Americans who held the adult 100m record?

GEIL! Here sprinting technique is very good. In the second half of the race she is clear/plain the best.
Only her drive phase could be better. (Marybeth Sant was 7th in 11,47 Sec.)

Thanks jacknyc for the video. Right lactatking Prandini clearly the class of the field, but with a better start could break 11 seconds easy.

Sant is tiny and hopefully will get stronger with age. Sant comes up out of her drive phase a little fast also, I think.

The teenage wonder kid opens up his outdoor season with a very fast 10.47 over 100 meters. Here
is a quote from Mr. Hari himself.

"So happy that some of my old friends came out to watch me run today! Opened my season with a 10.47 (+0.9), decent considering I haven't been doing starters and 0 speed training the past 7 months! ‪#‎gameon‬ ‪#‎season2014‬ ; TIL MINE DANSKE FANS: SE TV2 I AFTEN 19:45"

Pavel Maslak finished 3rd today in Doha. He ran another new Czech Nat'l Record of 44.79! This kid is another Jeremy Wariner. He was the world indoor champion and I have no doubts that he is destined to eventually be the outdoor world 400 meter champion and eventually the olympic champion over that distance too. Thd kid is just a natural. Amazing talent and still tons of upside. A 44.79 in his first outdoor race of the season against elite competition. We need to keep a close on on this star.

Was just about to post this.
Times at Clermont are always notoriously fast, so take them with a grain of salt, but the results still show that Kilty and Jackubcyk are now at an elevated level in the sprints. It was expected from Kilty given his indoor season. Jackubcyk is a bit of a nice surprise. I'm very excited about this season!

Great results guys and despite the location this is very exciting news. Kilty has run faster than that last summer so we know his time is legitimate. Richard Kilty ran a 10.10 to end the season last year with 0 wind. He is ready to make the move to the next level.

Lucas J. of Germany gets better every year. I've said before but I will repeat myself. It's a damn shame he was a long jumper until he was 27 years of age. Think how much better he could have been. Maybe he still has a little life left in those 29 year old legs. His speed endurance is really nice.

Germany now has 3 male sprinters with personal best times of sub 10.10! Reus, Keller and now Jakubzcyk! Amazing performances by
all of these guys. We need at least one of them to break though. I'm hoping it will be Julian Reus just because he is the youngest and like Kilty he is also a good 200 meters sprinter which shows good speed endurance. My dream would to be to see all three germans go sub 10! Think what that would do for their 4 x 100 Relay Team.
