The Timberwolves play the Lakers on national tv in around a half hours time on ESPN. It should be a good game. Kobe is out for six weeks and the Lakers have struggled lately. Hopefully Minnesota can secure another easy win. They need to get a huge winning streak going!

This was a bad loss for the T-Wolves. If they are going to contend for a playoff spot, they need to beat bad teams like the Lakers. Instead, they made a bunch of no-name scrubs look like All-Stars.

This was my first time watching this team this season, and to me it looks like they are what their record indicates, a mediocre team. They have a top 5 player in Kevin Love, and Rubio is still developing as a PG. Pekovic is a solid double-double guy at center. But after those 3, I just don't see anyone who stands out. Martin is not consistent enough, and I've never been a fan of Brewer. They need some scoring help, and I think Jimmer could be an excellent addition here.

I've been saying a Jimmer trade would be great too but when they traded Derick Williams for a defensive player, that pretty much sums up the whole scenario. They led at the half by 2 and it was even after 3 quarters only to fall apart down the stretch. At one point, Kevin Love was so frustrated he threw his hands up in the air. There are times in close games where they forget that he is the only all star they have and also a mvp candidate at that! They forget to get him the ball. He is a great passer and he is not going to force shots. Run the offense through him and either he scores or makes an easy pass for layups and dunks. They forget to do this and Coach Adelman should be in their faces. Rubio has been a huge disapointment with his continued lack of shooting. Then Sved has lost his confidence too. Tonight he was 1 out of 7 again. Brewer has always been overrated.

So the team got rid of their shot blockers and they don't have enough scoring. Go resign a couple of these guys. Amundsen can probably be brought back. Maybe Osik would be another option but Jimmer here would be great. Budinger is 1 to 2 weeks away from playing in games and they can't get him back soon enough. There lack of consistant three point shooting is causing teams to just play off them and that leads to a long hard night trying to score in and around the paint.

I haven't given up on this team yet. It's way too early as the season is still way under the half way mark but they need to get it going soon. Win one and lose one week after week will guarantee no playoffs. There is plenty of time but they need to make some changes. Martin needs to start shooting better. They paid him alot of money and he has been in a rut for around 2 to 3 weeks now. I miss Greg Stiemsma and his defensive presence. He was the intimidator.

I haven't given up on them either, but yes foobar75, this was not good! It's hard to comprehend how they can beat up on Portland and then lose as you said, to a bad Lakers team.

Correct me if Im wrong, because I havent followed hoops closely this year, but dosent this happen often? I mean Jimmer seems to get lots of buckets for a guy who barely plays? Imagine what he could do if he got 24 minutes a game.

Yep, Jimmer jacks up 3 shots in his first 2:30 mins. and hits a 2 and a 3, for 5 points. I love it! If I were him I would shoot every time I touched the ball, which is what it sounds like he did in the first 2-3 minutes. I'm sure he'll be pulled soon.

Yes, right on cue! Jimmer pulled after 5 minutes! He did get in 4 shots, made a 2 and a 3, for 5 points and snagged a rebound.

good post. What a bunch of animals, especially Vince Carter. Look for the media to start giving Adams the label of being a dirty player in order to excuse the TNB and make Adams universally disliked by the DWF

Absolutely ridiculous game last night by Kevin Love with 45 points and 19 rebounds against a top three power forward in Blake Griffin. Those are not typos folks! Also Pekovic with 34 points and 14 rebounds. Insane!

Despite Kevin Loves best game of the year, the Twolves lost again in overtime. You can pin this loss on Kevin Martin. All he had to do was catch the ball and wait for the Clippers to foul him. Instead he bobbles it and then tries to dribble it and has it stolen right away and the Clippers tie the game to send it to overtime. Unflipping believable way to lost. The Clippers just always find a way to beat the Twolves. They have beat them 6 times in a row and every game is close. This game hurt the most by far though.

When is Chase going to play. They cannot continue losing these close games. On the bright side, Love and Pekovic are the best tandem in the nba. Both guys are unstoppable despite doing it in different ways. I'm so glad both guys are locked up under contract the next few years

I feel so bad for Kevin Love. 45 points and 19 rebounds to go along with 6 assists. The real mvp. In case you guys haven't checked lately he scores and rebounds better than Lebron night after night. Love leads the nba in rebounding and it's not even close. He is scoring 26 points a game which is good for 3rd in the league. It won't mean a thing though if they don't make the playoffs. This sucks.

Carolina Speed, your updates are greatly appreciated! As a former NBA fan, I'm still interested in how white players perform, and CF is my #1 place where I check the stats and see how our guys are doing.

You're welcome foobar75. It's kind of exciting to see so many white players doing so well. It's really got me more interested in the NBA. I haven't really paid attention since the 80's. I hope we can get more in the NBA next year out of college.

Going into tonight's action.... scoring and rebounding leaders.

Rebounding....

1. Love, MN. 13.9. The Man, the MVP!
5. Vucevic, OR. 11.4, Great young player. Hopefully he can develop his offense as he seasons!
8. Bogut, GS. 10.7, rebounding machine
11. Lee, GS. 10.0, AVG. a double/double
15. P. Gasol, LAL. 9.4
16. Plumlee. PHX. 9.1, another good young player surprising many, had a career game 17/16 couple of nights ago.
17. Gortat, WAS. 9.0
17. Hawes, PHI. 9.0, needs to be a more consistent scorer to get to Lee's level.
17. Pekovic, MN. 9.0, a beast, really helps Love.
31. Valanciunas, TO. 8.0
37. Koufos, MEM. 7.1
37. M. Gasol, MEM. 7.1, still injured.

Scoring.....

3. Love, MN. 25.9
12. Nowitzki, DAL. 21.6
18. Anderson, NO. 20.4, slipping a little, need him to keep stepping up,
27. Dragic, PHX. 18.4, top 12 in assists also
28. Lee, GS. 18.3, should be an all star again!
33. Pekovic, MN. 17.4, beginning to help Love out with scoring.
34. Parsons, HOU. 17.3, really needs to be a 20 point a night player?
41. Hayward, UT. 16.4, see Parsons description?
45. M. Gasol, MEM. 16.0, injured
46. Redick, LAC. 15.8, injured
51. Hawes, PHI. 15.0, should be avg. a double/double and an all star.
53. P. Gasol, LAL. 14.7

Big night of action tonight. Let's hope our guys perform well!!!!!!

The Twolves are winning at half time by around 14 points. Kevin Love has 18 points and 8 rebounds. The guy puts up the most astronomical numbers every night. This team has to start winning. It's a damn shame he isn't mentioned more in the nba mvp race but it's mostly because the wolves haven't won enough games. No one puts up the combo of numbers that he can. No one. He is move valuable to Minnesota than Durant to OKC or James to Miami in my honest opinion. Those teams would still win without those guys but not nearly as much. Minnesota would be the worst team in the nba without Love. He keeps them in the game and he is the best all around player in the nba. Most fans won't admit it and the nba won't either but he is a superstar at the highest level. His numbers make Larry Bird seem mortal but Bird was a little better passer. Not much but a little better.

If the Twolves can win some championships someday, Love may go down as the greatest white player I have ever seen. Yes it sounds crazy but his numbers are off the charts and he is unselfish. His numbers could be even better but I'm glad he is a team player.

Come on Wolves. Let's get a win tonight. No more relaxing no matter how big the lead.

One last thing. Wouldn't it be great if Love could win the scoring and rebounding title? I wonder who is the last player to do that? I can't even think of one in the last several decades or longer. Can anyone answer this trivia question?

Good post WL. There have been only 3 players, I believe, to lead the NBA in both scoring and rebounding. Neil Johnston, Bob Pettit, and Wilt Chamberlain. Chamberlain being the last to do it.

There's a good article by Rick Warner in Sheridan Hoops about Kevin Love possibly being the next to do it.

Tonight's stats so far......

Love 25/11, in a little over 2 quarters. Wolves beat Wizards.

Vucevic 20/11, Magic over Pistons

Teletovic 19/6, Nets beat Bucks

Pekovic 18/10
Rubio 11/8/9 ast.

Bargnani 18/12

Valancianus 16/18, Raptors over Knicks

Anderson 16/10, didn't play very well, Jazz over Nuggets

Chris Kaman in only his 5th start has 19/9 for LAL still in 3rd quarter.

Hayward 10/3/9 3rd quarter.

I have to disagree with You WL. Larry Bird is the best white player we have ever seen. In fact, he may be the best player ever overall.

At this point I believe both me and white lightning would have to agree with you wa33, however, if as white lightning said and Love can win a championship or 2 and win the scoring and rebounding title, he would definitely deserve consideration as not only the best white player of all time, but possibly one of the best all time period.

The problem is a championship and the scoring and rebounding title are going to be difficult to accomplish. The latter seems more possible at this point in Love's career. He doesn't have enough pieces around him to win the championship, so he has to be the main scoring threat most of if not all the time.

Although Love's numbers, with the exception of assists, are better than Bird's, Bird already had a championship. Bird didn't have to do all the scoring and rebounding. He had others around him, although they were young, he made everyone better. I'm not sure if Love has that just yet.

I would like to see Love get the rebounding and scoring title, now, because it seems the T'Wolves are a long way from a championship and then get the championship or 2 either with Minnesota or another team. Then we could more accurately compare Bird, Love, and others for whose the best, but I'm selfish.

I'm old school, so for now, just as I think Roger Staubach and I know ya'll may get tired of hearing about him, is the best QB of all-time, I believe Bird is the best of all-time!

Don't forget Bird was a far superior passer and also a better defensive player as he averages significantly more steals and blocks than Love.
