2010 White Running Backs

Speaking of Dan Dierking. He has ran the ball 7 times for 72 yards in the first half. Purdue is winning 14-0. I hope the game stays semi close so that he can have a huge game.

101 yards on 8 rushes for Dierking, just had a 27 yard rush this kid is really good.

Joe "the Closer" Martinek, still battling back from injury, scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime as Rutgers defeated Army.

Portland State's Cory McCaffrey rushed for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries against #10-ranked Montana State last week.

and went over 100 yards and a score again this week against Grizz of Montana.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

South Dakota State's Kyle Minett had his 4th consecutive 100+ yard game with 144 yards rushing on 30 carries/ 2TD's vs Southern Illinios...688 yards rushing so far this season in six games.

Chase Renyolds had had 107 yds rushing and 67 yards receiving on 6 catches and a TD! Corey McCaffreyhad 109yds rushing and TD &4 rec 22yds.......Montana defeats Portland State 23-21 w/ FG at the end

McGuffie has 399 yds rushing and Burkhead has 396. McGuffie also has 254 yds receiving and Burkhead has 104. I hope these two have a few breakout games. They are both capable. McGuffie is 5th in the FBS in receiving yards among running backs. Di Luigi is 3rd with 322 receiving yards.Edited by: KG2422

I just saw Jared Tew is out for the season with a leg injury :(

I'm just so pissed at McGuffie for going to Rice and Brandon Wegner for not keeping his appendage in his pants. Wouldn't it have been great to see Wegner running for over 100 yards against Michigan on national TV. Wouldn't it have been great for McGuffie to go to a school that gets TV time....Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech....even Houston. Its hard to argue with the DWFs on forums when Sam goes from Michigan to Rice. I mean I've been singing McGuffie's praises for several years and now this....what a let down....."yeah, yeah, yeah what happened to your boy McGuffie"

I'd say that Sam made the wise choice of a realist.
D1A coaches are bigots. That's universal. Sam probably knew that he would end up sitting behind any black runningback if he chose any other school. Picking Rice was a matter of playing time. Yeah, their offense stinks by design. And nobody is ever going to accumulate any rushing yardage in that system. But he's on the field. And he's getting a better education than at the adult day care centers you mentioned. And this is only his second year of eligibility. He's got two more years for the coaches to figure out how to run the ball out of the dumbass spread.

Navy "FB" Alex Teich had a whopping 210 yards on 26 carries against Notre Dame today! He also snagged a 31 yard TD pass.
smiley32.gif

Iowa State RB Jeff Woody had 8 carries for 30 yards in the big upset over Texas.

I will say this. The Armed Service Academys of Navy and Air Force always seem to have very good white athletes at qb, rb and the fullback positions.. These guys are very disciplined as well. It's too bad Kyle Eckel never became the star we hoped he would. In a fair world, he probably would have been a star in the NFL. What a game by Alex Teich! The Fighting Irish will be having nightmares about him tonight.

Sam is having a decent game despite a lack of blocking. 14 runs for 63 yards plus 4 catches for 21 yards and a TD with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Maybe he can somehow squeak out a 100 yard game.

Zach Line is off to a good start, with 4 runs for 25 yards before the weather delay.

Sam ended up with 16 carries for 65 yards and the aforementioned 4 catches for 21 yards and a TD. With their crazy offensive scheme and lack of good blocking, Sam is going to have trouble racking up yards this season. Maybe things will improve at Rice a bit next year and he can have a great statistical year.

Cory McCaffrey
24 carries 178 yards 2TD

I'm thinking of mailing Jerry Glanville a box of manure for stealing two years from this talented runningback.

Here's a nice surprise.
Sausan Shakerin led Utah in rushing with 80 yards and a touchdown.
It was accidental, of course. They certainly didn't mean for him to lead the team in rushing. He only got four carries. But a 72 yard TD run in the fourth quarter ruined the script for Whittingham. I won't hold my breath waiting for him to recognize that Shak (being so large) can provide him with more options than Wide and Asiata.

Wow! I haven't heard anything on Shakerin on this site for a while.

I had checked for Shakerin's stats early in the game yesterday and didn't see anything, so I'm glad to see that he got a few touches and a catch. Still, I'd like to see him getting more.

Shakerin has been suffering from the effects of a concussion, and it took him over two months to fully recover.

what is it with all these concussions the past couple of seasons? were they just not diagnosed before or is something different?

I don't know if it is an increase in helmet to helmet hits or maybe the "superior" helmets they are making aren't as concussion reducing as the makers claim. It is very strange/disturbing to see the number of concussions rise as they have lately.

redshirt freshman Mike Trumpy ran for over 100 yards todayagainst Indiana. he is the first Northwestern running back to top the century mark this season.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Alexander Teich's 200 yard game against Notre Dame. He looked like a pro prospect with the way he ran and caught balls against the golden domers. One problem for him is he is listed as a fullback and is only 217 pounds. If he has strong remainder of the season and has a strong 2011 I hope he gets a training camp invite at least. Sorry last page........

Well technically Teich is a fullback in the triple option, but so was Dwyer and nobody ever listed him as one. They called Dwyer a b-back in the triple option instead. Funny how that works. How would he bypass his military obligations though? I know Eckel did it somehow but others like Kettani couldn't. Hall had to wait.

"FB" Jared Hassin had 14 carries for a whopping 158 yards and a TD today in Army's win over VMI. He also led the game in receiving with 3 catches for 54 yards! Zach Line has 60 yards rushing at halftime.
