Yeah I was wondering that myself...Gerhart should be on that list...the delay is probably bec the culturist need to evaluate his runs in greater detail/just to make extra-extra sure...it threw a kink in the plans as a possible fullback...some just don't want to believe Gerhart could actually be faster in the 40 than McCluster despite outweighing him by 60 pounds...but the announcers are sold on Gerhart..giving him his due respect!

BTW looks like WR- Eric Decker will need a 2nd surgery to his foot...a late 1st round talent...probably would have been picked in Round 2...Now how far might he slip...3rd or 4th round?? Who ever gets him; gets a steal of a bargain...if he stays healthy he will contribute as a solid starter! He's a blend of Pat Jeffers and Kevin Walter..but could be better!

Yeah one of the announcers said words to the effect " after that forty(4.53) I see him (Gerhart) as a tailback, forget fullback stuff."

The one other running back I liked who appears to be half white and to have un-affeletic behavior/mannerisms is Ryan Mathews. He ran a great 40, and appears determined to make a name for himself next year. I think he went Fresno State.

people love to bash announcers, but i think the white guy was pretty good; seeming to subtly counter the white stereotypes. i don't remember the black guy saying anything that stood out in either direction. could be wrong thought if i missed some things.

The announcers were impressed with Toby's run, considering he is big back. One announcer is annoying. He has a lisp and sounds like Rudy Guolieani.

The guy with the lisp is Mike Mayock. At one point he observed that one of the white players (I forget who) "has pale thighs." A guy could slip down two or three rounds from "pale thighs." The player's agent really dropped the ball. He should have had him in the tanning booth before the combine.

F'ingTow'n yeah both of the announcers called it fair. None of the stereotype trash. Just calling it as they saw it.

I still think if Toby would have came in under 230 lbs, say 220 lbs, he could have run a 4.49 at least. And I am sure he prepared well. But I guess him and his management decided best to included in the "Big Back" catergory. And if that was their aim, they suceeded if the combine announcers assessment is any indication.

The Hock I remember that remark. I thought why is this closet homo bringing his metrosexual fuax paus to the combine. I bet he would never make a remark about the few Predador hair dos that affelets like sporting, would he. Of course not.

I thought going in, that one elite white reciever or Toby would break into the high 4s.

Mayock is the retard who doesn't have a white WR in his top 5, and he ranked McCluster and Dwyer over Gerhart. Mayock is no friend of white players.

Gerhart showed his athleticism today he is big strong and FAST. He helped himself in the draft today. Might possibly go in the 1st round to the Chargers would actually fit in quite well, and stay on the
West coast. He clearly showed out of all the big backs that he Gerhart was the most athletic out of the whole entire bunch. Well done Toby well done indeed.

Congrats to Toby! And someone mentioned that they didn't show Blair White's second forty. That's not true I say here and watched him run it. Overall not a bad day for our skill guys.

It's a sick joke that the one White face in a sea of black, the onewho won the Doak Walker Award, was the only one facing all the questions about whether or not he should be a fullback. If there was one black quarterback among nothing but whites and he happened to be the best one in the country but had to score a certain amount on his Wonderlic test otherwise be forced to switch positions, everyone who is degrading Gerhart solely because of his race would be screaming racism.Edited by: Don Wassall

Oh they were making subtle racist comments about Toby today. They know caste speak for White players and know that we know. Before he ran they were talking about he had the most to prove by showing he was fast enough to play tailback and joking about it. Then he ran a 4.53 and they were talking about how he played baseball, and was 12 of 12 for stolen bases, and someone laughed and said "yeah hes sneaky fast" It was basically hinting at the fact he was White the entire time from, the impression I got from it.Edited by: dwid

You nailed it Don. When will the racism stop? Not reverse racism, just racism. I hate the word reverse racism as it makes it out like whites are the only people that are racist. That is a huge lie as well all know. Toby has been criticised simply because of the color of his skin. I commend him in his ability to deflect the criticism and go out there and compete. He makes all of us proud. I for one am very happy today. He will go to a team in the first couple of rounds and he WILL START! Toby Gerhart will no be denied. He is a WARRIOR.

He will break down some of the barriers and hopefully many more will follow him. Edited by: white lightning

Shipley, Whiteand Cooper will likely be hurt big time by their 40 times.Shipley and Cooperare proven field stretchers but it'll be surprising now if any of the White WRs we've been following will be anything but "possession receivers" at the next level, even Cooper who is a prototype of what the NFL salivates over when they're black. And this being the NFL, some of them are destined to be totally screwed over, either not drafted or never given a genuine opportunity. Edited by: Don Wassall

Here is a pic of Toby. The future running back. I'm staying positive. We have have the belief that it will happen. Toby Gerhart will not be stopped.

Obviously 40 times can only hurt white players, but Gerhart proving he is the fastest of the big backs (the announcers were calling some of the barely 200 lb affletes big backs lol) by running 4.53 should be enough to ensure he stays at halfback. Now, we just wait to see if he gets screwed over in some other way.

And Tim Tebow is the most impressive athlete I've seen in a while. No surprise to us how fast Lefavour is also.

Jordan Shipley is quite obviously a top speed guy like Percy Harvin so his 4.5 40 should indicate he should be best used as a deep threat.

Also, I love how DWFs say Matt Jones has proven he is an ineffective deep threat, even though his quotoback sucked on the Jags and he was used as a slot receiver.

Still no word on his official electronic time. Dwfs are still claiming he ran 4.6+ because hes not listed on top performers on nfl.com. This is the same site that hasn't put up Dennis Pitta's 4.63 from yesterday and had a listed a lineman with a 100 inch vertical all of yesterday and last night.

Either way he ran faster than Dwyer, Dixon and Blount, the backs he was in competition with. Unless you believe dwfs who think the timing for Toby was off by more than .1 but those other guys "may have even been .03 faster"

As of right now is a top performer in the bench (22), vertical (38), broad jump (9'10) and 3 cone drill (6.94). I guess they are still reviewing his 40 time? Maybe they can't believe a White rb is in the top for all of those drills. His vertical proves that he has explosiveness and his 3 cone drill proves he can change direction very well without losing speed.Edited by: dwid

Still don't see Toby's official 40 time at the combine site. I hope it doesn't come out much slower than originally thought.

Most of the DWFs probably thought it was a legitjump by a 350 pound black.

I don't understand these time adjustments. At a track meet, they have the times correct within minutes. I have only seen times adjusted afterwards by 1/100th of a second. Never more.
I don't what kind of b.s. timing they have at the combine.

from rotoworld:
"Stanford RB Toby Gerhart ran 4.53 and 4.58 in the forty-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday.
A time in the 4.4s would've been ideal, but this likely cements Gerhart as a tailback for NFL evaluators. Gerhart's athleticism has shockingly been questioned by those supposedly "in the know." We know that Gerhart is one of the better athletes of this generation as a 105-game starter for the Stanford baseball team and a two-year starting tailback under Jim Harbaugh."

I've never seen such little attention given to the NFL combine. Usually it's Jock-Huffer Valhalla. I suppose everyone was too busy watching white men and women smash the competition in Vancouver.

Toby plays the way Adrian Peterson used to play"¦aggressive, powerful, gutsy, etc. I agree with the CF consensus that Toby should be selected in the early to mid 2nd round. If he were black, he'd be taken first or second overall, obviously. Like with Tim Tebow, there is much greater caste implications placed upon WHERE he goes rather than WHEN he goes.

I could see Tebow as a bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic version of Kevin Faulk (with the same sort of offensive role). If he plays QB, there is virtually no current or former player who can compare to what he can/will do.

I called WSCR (The Score) Sports Radio this afternoon and got on the air. I made a comment about Toby Gerhart running the fastest 40 yard dash time among the top rated backs who competed in the combine today and posed the following question to one of the radio hosts, "based on Toby Gerhart's 40 yard dash time being the fastest among the top rated backs can you see any reason why he shouldn't beselected as the first running back in the draft?" The hosts response is verbatim as I remember it, "Greg, so there weren't any other backs that competed today?" He proceded to hang up on me before I could say anything else but after I hung up he commented on the air, "Toby Gerhart doesn't impress me very much. He can't catch out of the backfield and he's kind of light. I don't think he'll be anything but an average player at best. He'll probably be a good special teams player but won't have a very long career."

What I don't get, is nfl.com has a video of rbs who were the top performers in the 40 yard dash, all of them have an official time except Toby. Still no "official" time for him so dwfs are still claiming he ran slower than 4.6. What the hell?

here is the vid on youtube

If Toby's official time of 4.53 is not made official by noon tommorrow, then something reeks and obviously a poor slight of hand is being played on the DWFs which is very hard to do. "Why" is Toby's the only one who's time is unofficial?
