Head coach Marvin Lewis' future with the Bengals is reportedly "in serious jeopardy" after talks broke off Tuesday afternoon.

The main issue remains owner Mike Brown's bare-bones, throwback approach to staffing and scouting.
Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Must only have white guys doing the staffing and scouting.
Actually that's true! Talking to Bengals fans I take it they mean something a bit different though. Supposedly their owner is still living in the 1950's when you only needed a couple scouts to hit the nearby Colleges and time some guys on the track.

As many busts as are drafted you probably don't need more then a couple of guys with stopwatches. Cincy signs so many retread thugs anyway why do they need scouts? All they have to do is keep an eye on the waiver wire and police blotter.

That is some strange news, backrow. I found this at the top of the page you linked. And I thought the New Orleans Saints' chant "Who Dat" was stupid. This takes the incorporation of Ebonics in the Negrophile Football League to a "ho nutha levah." I can hear em' now, "who dey irs"?

Well you've kind of hit on why teams DO need a fancy scouting department. Back in the era the Bengals coach came out of there wasn't alot of competition for pro football players. There wasn't alot to football. In general "back then" if you were interested in a player you already knew he was hardworking and disciplined with character to be playing for college programs. Now days not so much and you'd be surprised just how much scouting goes into these players these days. I don't just meant their on the field ability if you catch my drift. Teams have to actually go interview their teachers, coaches AND the local PD on these affletes.

That's pretty sad when you have to pay some poor saps $50,000 per year to flip through pages of police reports and fly around asking if the players you want paid attention in class and had some sort of work ethic.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer predicts that the Bengals will use their first-round pick on a wide receiver.

Cincy has the No. 4 selection, and A.J. Green is already a popular Bengals pick in early mock drafts. The team is fully expected to part with free agent Terrell Owens, and seems unlikely to pick up Chad Ochocinco's $6 million option. The Bengals could pair Green with the winner of an Andre Caldwell-Jerome Simpson camp battle and still trot out a formidable wideout corps.

WTF??? did they forget about Shipley who even with 85 and TO managed to score 3 TDs on 52 receptions that went for 600 yards? does he not even count anymore? his numbers were pretty much better than these two clowns COMBINED!

Lol at JeromeSimpson and Andre Caldwell. Shipley will outplay both of those bums as long as Shipley can avoid taking bighits ala Austin Collie.

I would predict Joe Reedy is incorrect. Their pick is likely to be a sumo DT, a sumo olineman, or a runningback. You'd think guys like Reedy would pay attention to how teams operate. After three or four years on the team Simpson and Caldwell had a good game against a weak passing defense, they're likely to be given the reigns for the remainder of their contracts.

Also their owner loves sumo linemen early and often. They're most likely to reach for another one "with tons of potential."

The obvious question here is: how do the #1 and #2 WRs on a team go down, and the season long, very impressive rookie #3 not be promoted? How did Caldwell- beaten out by Shipley in preseason, and Simpson- who had done nothing all season long, become the starters over Shipley?

Has there ever been an instance, in NFL history, where the #1 and #2 at any position were out of a game, but the #4 and #5 guys were elevated over the #3? Ridiculous.

Guys thats from one source. I have confidence in Jordan. As long as Palmer is still at the helm of the team I think him and Jordan can build on some of the chemistry they developed this year. Shipley was NFL ready, already proving doubters wrong!

None that I can think of.

The answer to your first questions would be Marvin Lewis. He has historically singled out and refused to promote white players. To understand the why's and how comes you have to look through the Coaches history. Ran off Kevin Walter as fast as possible. Couldn't wait to get rid of Justin Smith. Let probowl caliber left guard Eric Steinbach walk in free agency. Buried Caleb Miller on the depth chart. Got rid of Kevin Kaesviharn. Forced passrushing DE David Pollack to try and play linebacker resulting in his career ending prematurely. Forced franchise LT Andrew Whitworth to play guard until the player reportedly demanded to play that position. Despite excelling in the position Lewis drafts obese sumo Andre Smith with the goal of making him the LT. Tom Nelson, despite outperforming all but one other safety on their roster remains buried on the bottom of the depth chart. Bengals sign free agent guard Evan Mathis who performs solidly last season, Lewis buried him on the depth chart behind multiple sumos. No coincidence their strength on the line, LT, LG and Center collapsed this season when one cog in the wheel was benched.

Then there's Jim Leonhard, buried as the 3rd RB no matter what he does. Their #1 RB gets hurt, their #2 gets banged up so they bring in a different guy both seasons now instantly promoted to #3. There was the whole fullback position too, their owner signed in Joe Tronzo to play FB so they cut him and went most of the season without one(Leonhard couldn't even break into THAT caste friendly ceiling!) until they brought in some fatass afflete. Now you have Shipley stuck at a #3 WR ceiling at best until he is ran off by this coach.

Animal, that was a depressing list of Lewis's anti-white moves. Makes the fact that he is staying on for yet another year that much more disappointing. I was really hoping he'd be pushed out after this years debacle.

With Shipley, he is seen only as a slot receiver because of his race, thus any and all black receivers -- including the mediocre, small slot receiver before Shipley, Andre Caldwell -- can and will be tried on the outside but Shipley is stuck where he is despite having the size and proven big play ability to play on the outside.

A.J. Green would be the popular pick with most of the fans. My guess it will end up being a RB because Benson wants out. Now with Carson wanting out it might end up being a QB. The one thing that can be absolutely assured is that the Bengals will use the 4th pick to draft a player that they could have drafted with the 24th pick.

If Carson Palmer gets his wish and is traded, or he retires, this is the PERFECT spot for sCam Newton to land! He would get to play for Marvin "The Warden" Lewis, and be in perfect company to develop future bad habits!

Classic line about the Bungles.....

I still don't understand how the half caste Lewis kept his job. Maybe the Browns looked up Ancestry.com and found Lewis is an distant kinfolk of theirs. Otherwise this makes absolutely no sense the team literally imploded this season.

That would be my guess. With the returning of Lewis and the trade demands of Palmer I would expect to see another great white purge of the Bengals roster.

While searching for info on the Palmer trade yesterday to see if there were any signs of it brewing earlier I stumbled apon an interview with a former player, Will Anderson I think that stated he went to the Brown family and told them they needed a black head coach when Dick LeBeau was still the head coach. I'm certain that played a large part considering the racial makeup of the team is even worse now than back then.
