Your right she beat her pb by 1.5 seconds in Beijing. Really Beijing was the coming out party for the Jamaicans. Unlike the "Red" Chinese or the East Germans not many people in the media are wondering out loud what these athletes are on.

That is because they get a free pass from the fans and the media. They don't have our skin disease as Jimmy always says.

Pumped to see Wariner and Gillick do their thing tommorow. I want Wariner to assume his place back on top of the world. He has to win at all costs.

Looking forward to the start of the relays and the long jump final. We have alot of our guys there but what the hell happened to Sebastian Bayer. He just missed out on the finals. He had the chance of a lifetime to compete in front of his own people. He should have qualified easy. Nerves must have gotten to him.

I would love to see either Rutherford or Watts win. I want it to be a young guy who can dominate for a while. It will be very tough though with the best long jumpers in the world all there. Phillips or Saldino have to be the favorites but this is why we watch. Come on guys. Show them that white men can jump. Not only high but far as well.

Watched a bit about Trey on youtube. I must say he's some athlete at nearly 6'5" and "cut". The old Fuhrer would have loved to be in the stadium to see him propagate his theories LOL.
8,800 points at 25 (a 254 pt PB) shows a potential to reach 9,000 by London I'd say.

Two Brits, 2 U.S and 2 Aussies in the LJ final.
I enjoyed seeing Greg Rutherford score a national record 8.30 into a slightly neg wind on the only qualification jump he needed to do. Second best qualifier all up.

Surely Bolt would run 42s after a season or two of 400m training.

I remember doing exactly 19.19 about 4 years back..... hmm! now I think a bit more it was for 150m.

That was nice. I particularly liked the the part with the axe. A little but of foreshadowing I imagine.

Wariner runs tomorrow. Lane 6 with Merritt in 4, it will be close. The trend so far has been the Beijing silver medalists are getting revenge, of coarse, not in Tyson Gay's case... We shall see. If Gillick can PB by .25 (long shot), then he may medal.

High jump. Linus Thornblad and Ivan Ukhov.

He may say that but I can tell he is jealous. Alot of blacks have very fragile egos. M.J. is one of those guys. He was speechless during and after the race. I could tell he wasn't very happy. He put on an act but he was angry inside. Michael knows how this is making everyone that has ever sprinted look like turtles. Don't be suprised if alof of athletes, former athletes, and coaches find out what is going on and put a stop to it. One thing is for sure. The US hates to lose. They will not continue to stand by and do nothing. Take it how ever you want to but someone will find something at some point to level the playing field.

WL, you're right on regarding the Bruthas & their egos. Having played football & basketball, I can tell you by experience...they do NOT like being beated on a play (especially dunked on, or tackled for a big loss). Sportsmanship isn't a common virtue for them.

It is great that a second Brit, Chris Tomlinson, has also made it to the final although not jumping at his best.
It is a shame that Christian Olsson could not be there to show what he can do in the triple jump.

The only person Bolt reminds me of is Ben Johnson...nuf said. It's nice to see some white guys in most of the sprint finals except the 100m though Lemaitre had a shot. On average you really can't say blacks aren't faster than other races. They are.. I mean a greyhound is faster than a Retriever...blacks/white/asians are just different breeds of humans with different anatomical characteristics. Unfortunately, you can't talk about race.....everybody is "equal"....that's the biggest bullsheet ever spoken.....I thought it was humurouse that they said when Bolt runs there is less crime in Jamaica...maybe he should run the marathon in that case...ha ha ha

Why would he need that long. Didn't he do the 100 WR after only about six months.

It's interesting that his coach, up until a few weeks before the olympics, wasn't going to let him run the 100, either he didn't see the potential, or he is a poor judge.

the greatest athlete in THE WORLD is a White American male. that is awesome! and congratulations to Trey!

but i'd be willing to bet that due to their love affair with all things negro and affletic, most White Americans would claim that Trey Hardee is not even the best athlete in this country ...

Trey Hardee will be a force to be reckoned with for a very long time. He actually struggled a little in the discus and high jump or his score would have been even higher. His speed is incredible for the decathalon. I wonder what he would do if he was to ever train full time just for the 100? I would rather see him stay where he is at. He is the best in the world. Congrats to the 2009 World Champion!

Well Wariner looked the same as last year. He gave it his best and that is all you can ask. Merrit is number one for the 2nd year in a row. The mens 800 semifinals was exciting and both Yuri and Nick Symonds are through to the finals. Rybakov won the mens high jump as we swept all of the medals there like usual. The mens 4 x 100 Relay saw alot of our teams make it out of the qualifying round. Italy and France both looked pretty good. Christophe Lemaitre made up so much ground on his final leg.

Looking forward to the few finals left. Especially the mens long jump. It has been a long week. I have still enjoyed watching the coverage even if some of the athletes we root for didn't quite live up to our expectations. Congrats to all of them on giving it their best.

Wariner's performance in the past two years really is a head scratcher. He ran a 44.60, a full second slower than what he was running 2 years ago. Makes me think that he has been on top for so long that he is no longer motivated to train as hard.

SteveB, I agree. I am also asking what has happened to Wariner. 44.60 is not going to get it done in the 400m Final of any meet, and it's simply not indicative of what he was performing at the past few years (see below from the IAAF website on Wariner's PB's through the years). In years past he consistently posted 43 second PB times.

400 Metres 2009 44.60 Berlin 21/08/2009
2008 43.82 Zürich 29/08/2008
2007 43.45 Osaka 31/08/2007
2006 43.62 Roma 14/07/2006
2005 43.93 Helsinki 12/08/2005
2004 44.00 Athína (Olympic Stadium) 23/08/2004
2003 45.13 Tempe, AZ 12/04/2003
2002 45.57 Lubbock, TX 27/04/2002

He switched coaches and that might have thrown out his season last year. I don't know what the problem is this year. Maybe he started training with Hart to late in the year. Or maybe he is peaked out. Many world class 400 meter runners peak young and are on the other side of their careers in their mid 20's. Edited by: white is right

I'll cut JW some slack in the fact that he had a ankle injury early in the season which slowed down his training. this was a slow final for the WC. no one under 44 this year.

Wariner is 16-4 vs Merritt. 4-4 since 2008. We will see how this plays out. Wariner still has a better PB.

I don't think Wariner's 44.60 was as bad as people make out.
Here's why!
Apart from Merritt and Wariner everyone ran a lot slower in the conditions; Heck, most of the top fancied HJumpers at the time of the 400m couldn't clear a meagre 2.28. I watched them fail one after the other.
I'd consider Merritt's run worth 43.80 and Wariners 44.35 plus it was apparent he backed off too early knowing his cause was lost.He still did his season PR.
He's still a tremendous quarter miler, but clearly number 2 now. It remains to be seen whether he and Hart can do anything about it. I wonder how much Wariner "wants" it now Edited by: mastermulti

From the look on Wariners face after the race, I think he still wants it. I wouldn't be suprised however if he drastically changes his training regimine to put on more size and work on his speed more. I bet almost anything that his lace of running the 200 in a descent time just kills him deep down inside. I know he has always wanted to go sub 20. He has said so before. I.M.O. Wariner will try again sto get faster in the first 200 to help him be ahead of Merritt coming into the straight. The question I have is will he be able to at the age of 25. It's not too late yet but Hart is a coach who focuses more on endurance than speed. Next season will be interesting. These guys clearly respect each other but don't really like each other.

if you compare Wariner & Merritt at PR's for age JW is still ahead. and JW is only second to MJ in # of sub 44's. Merritt isn't close and I don't think he will catch JW over the next two years in that category. the fact is Merritt isn't beating Wariner, Wariner beat himself. Merritt isn't all of a sudden running so great, it just the JW isn't running like he should be. So everyone think Merritt is unbelievable (not to take anything away from Merritt), but in reality he is no better than he was 2 years ago. the only difference is JW has slipped enough to give Merritt the wins. at this point I think Merritt has the mental edge on JW. now, if JW can get his act together, which I believe he will, he is going to dominate next year. of course no big meets on the line for next year, but I believe Hart will whip his ass back into shape and place him back on top. with Hart back, all JW has to do is get his head straight and the rest will follow.

Great to see Nick made the 800m final, that boy deserves it! really hope he medals.

can't wait to see how the LJ is going to play out. it s a shame Beyer didn't make the final.I would like to see the kid from Australia get a medal and a big PB!

Just checked the LJ competition. I don't know that these world championships could've gone much worse for us. Lemaitre getting DQ'd, Bolt's inhuman records, Wariner getting beat by his arch rival, etc.

Yet another year to wait. Oh well, maybe Bolt will get caught in the off season.

Here is a positive spin on things. In the mens long jump, Mitchell Watt won the bronze medal in his first major championship of his career. We also had 3 of the top 5 positions. Sure we didn't win gold or silver but that is dominance. All of this with Bayer not in the finals and the guy from Greece looked hurt. It's pretty obvious to me that WHITE MEN CAN JUMP!

What pissed me off is England getting the bronze medal without Craig. Nothing against Devonish but he won't even be around in 2012. Craig should have been running with the other young guys. They only got the medal however because the US was disqualified.

The mens 4 x 100 Relay was as expected. It's all about the yams. The breakfast of champions. LMAO!

Harry AA has been consistently beaten by Craig all year. I guess he needs the world bronze cheque for his "supplements"

. I know this site doesn't pay much attention to the middle and long distance events, but the white performance levels have been mixed at best. No white runners made the 1500 final(only 2 Caucasians of Arab ancestry). One good thing is that the US did well in the 10K with a 6th and 8th place finish. But gone are the Western or Eastern Euro 10K men. Only 1 Spaniard and one Russian finished the final..

WL,
it was good to see Monique Williams (NZ) achieve two PRs in this comp and finish 3rd in semifinal 3, 22.90, just outside a finals berth.
You can view it on youtube. She doesn't have quick cadence but has a powerful stride reminiscent of the Aussie Melinda Gainsford.
