White men can't jump they say, but Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy wins the men's high jump at the World Track and Field Championships.

Unfortunately, there's a Caster Semanya type (very man-ish) in the 400m finals that could spoil things. Fingers crossed that Klaver or Kaczmaek wins. Otherwise, any other woman besides Paulino.

    2023 World Outdoor Season

If Swoboda can hold her speed better over the last 10 meters or so, she could really be a contender. So she needs to work on her speed endurance. Otherwise, I think it was a great set of races for her. And she can be proud that she made it to the finals. Hopefully, this boosts her...

18 yr old Niels Laros looked great in the 1500 semis of the World Championships, and has made it into the finals. Amazing!

That was a National Record for Ingvaldsen. And Norway also has Narve Gilje Nordas into the 1500m final, along with Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Of course Karsten Warholm is another Norwegian we can expect to make the finals of his event. Go Norway!!

    2023 World Outdoor Season

Boling and the USA take the gold medal, but I was not happy with this race. Femke Bol fell hard at the end of the race....I hope she didn't get hurt. And it might also affect her confidence in the hurdles. Boling, meanwhile, did not look great on his leg...just adequate. But now he has a WC...

    2023 World Outdoor Season

Well, Samuele Ceccarelli didn't even make it out of the heats at the World Championships, running a 10.26. Very disappointing, but he hadn't looked good in his last couple of races. Rohan Browning and Domenik Kopec did advance, running 10.11 and 10.12 respectively. Also Henrik Larsson, 10.16.

Amy Hunt's time was wind legal - 11.13 (1.5w) Adam Thomas and Joe Ferguson also ran wind legal times with 1.7w.

    2023 World Outdoor Season

It looks like Amy Hunt is back. She ran 11.13 today in England. Not sure about the wind, but I think it was legal, as it is being reported as a PB. Adam Thomas 10.14 and Joe Ferguson 10.25 and 20.68 at the same meet.

All the athletes I listed have marks or times that put them among the top European seniors. Laros - 14th; Caune - 2nd; Saraboyukov - 4th; Topic - 4th.

    2023 World Outdoor Season

I want to highlight some rising stars from Euro U20 Championships that we need to keep an eye on in the future: 18 yr old Niels Laros of the Netherlands won both the 1500m and 5000m. He is a prodigy who had previously bettered Jakob Ingebrigsten's European U18 records in 1500m and 3000m...

Actually I was somewhat encouraged by these championships. I believe all Men's running events were won by white Europeans.

    2023 World Outdoor Season

The women's 4x400 relay team from the Netherlands was all white. They had a terrible first leg, but were oh so close to pulling off the victory.

    2023 World Outdoor Season

The Euro U20 Championships finished today. I was very impressed with the performance of the Swedes. They won 5 golds - 2nd most after Germany's 8 golds - and 2 silvers. Perhaps they have been inspired by how well their Norwegian neighbors have been performing at the senior level. Here are...

    High Schoolers

Another nice feature on 14 year old Aria Pearce. It's nice to know that the pipeline of very fast girls continues. It started with Jenna Prandini, followed by Hannah Cunliffe and Mary Beth Sant Price. Then continued with Abby Steiner and high school phenom Mia Brahe-Pedersen. Aria Pearce appears...

    2023 World Outdoor Season

A new name to note is Bozhidar Saraboyukov of Bulgaria. Previously he was a high jumper, but then switched to the long jump. Prior to today's Euro 20 Championships, he had never jumped over 8m. However, in today's competition, he jumped over 8 meters, 5 times! His best jump was 8.22m, good...

    Matthew Boling 9.98, 19.92, 44.84 and 8.25 LJ

Well Boling made the US relay team in the 4x400 for the World Championships, so of course he needs to focus on running the 400m to be ready for that. I am sure that he very much wants to win a World Championship gold medal even if it's a relay. So this is his chance and he needs to take it...

    Forgotten White Athletes?

Yes, I remember him, but I had never seen a photo of him. Also I don't remember or didn't know he was a long jumper. He definitely looks like an 'athlete', and has the stats to back up that claim. Thanks for the photo.

    American Female Sprinters

Not sure this is a definitive list...I may have missed someone. But what is also interesting, is that almost all the women listed are still active, or were active until very recently. Obviously times have gotten faster recently, but still I can't think of others from previous decades who would...
