I recently heard out in the field, from a D-1 recruiting coach, that it didn't matter if a certain 2014 white HS RB had rushed for 10,000 yds. in a season, it would be difficult for a "white" RB to earn a scholarship to the college he coached for. That's a direct quote! Now, instead of just not offering without saying a word or making excuses, it seems coaches/recruiters are saying it, "if you're white, forget the RB position."
Is this legal?
I ask anyone here, is there anything that can be done about it? Does anyone want to do anything about it?
The best way to go about it would be to file a class action lawsuit against the NCAA and the major recruiting services. That would take a "class" of plaintiffs -- White high school and college football players who have been discriminated against -- and it would need a tremendous amount of financial backing along with patience and tenacity, as such a suit would likely be dragged out for as long as possible by the defendants, and would require many expert witnesses and the cataloging of a lot of statistics and comparisons.
