Okay, its that time of year again as College Football
prepares to shift from the regular season to the Bowl
season and into the offseason. For the past several
years I have tried to compile draft rankings from the
various experts, news services and scouting services
to get a handle on where players rate as potential NFL
draft picks. Last season I used the following
sources:
Scott Wright (aka NFLdraftcountdown.com)
The Sporting News
Scout.com
Great Blue North
Draft Daddy
Footballs Future
Draft Consensus
NFL Draft Scout
ESPN Insider
Mel Kiper, Jr
About.com
Rivals.com
Pro Football Weekly
This season I hope to continue to add to the list of
sources, as it can only increase the potential
accuracy of the study. My requirements are that the
source has to have updated information (Any source
that hasn't updated after the end of the last bowl
game I won't use), break out postional groupings
(DLine, OLine or Defensive Back groupings aren't
specific enough) and have some sort of legitimate
credentials. If anyone has any suggestions for
additional sources, please let me know.
So I wanted to list my very preliminary rankings of
potential White draft picks, to set a starting point
from which we can determine if a guy is trending up or
down as the draft approaches. My experience has been
that the trend for Whites is normally down, unless a
phenomenal workout occurs (Like Tim Shaw last year).
This ranking only includes Seniors, underclassmen will
be added as they officially declare. Currently only 6
sources have updated and Free rankings, I will
incorporate the others as they update or as it gets
nearer to the draft and I pay for subscriptions.
Players only ranked by 1 or 2 sources will be
excluded.
So here goes.

7. (6.67) John David Booty 6'3" 210 USC
9. (10.0) Sam Keller 6'4" 230 Nebraska

Danny Woodhead is ranked by only 2 sources (Scott
Wright & Draft Consensus)
Fullbacks (6 Taken in '07)

Most sites have yet to update their O-Line rankings so
the eligible players ends between 10-15 which is under
the number that will be selected, meaning more players
will move onto the radar as the offseason progresses.

16. (21.0) Adamm Oliver 6'4" 265 Georgia Tech
A lot of sites have neglected to update or provide
defensive rankings, so expect these to change as more
candidates become eligible to be ranked,
unfortunately, most of them will be Affletes based
upon the current info at hand.

(rnk)(avg rnk)

----------
Yeah Right. Of the 45 CB's currently ranked by at
least one of these sources, not one is White.
Strong Safety (20 Total Safties taken in '07)
-------------
(rnk)(avg rnk)
1. (2.2) Tom Zbikowski 6' 210 Notre Dame

None currently eligible, but look for Marcus Watts (Yeah, I thought he was black by his name too) &
Jamie Silva to move into the mix as more sites update
and/or rank their Defensive players
Specialists will be ranked as more sites turn their
attention to them, currently only 2 sites have
populated their specialist rankings.
