Some of my favorites in a few groups...

"Older":
-Kelly's Heroes
-The Great Escape
-Stalag 17
-Dirty Dozen
-A Bridge Too Far
(My dad absolutely raised me on old war movies!)
-Some Like It Hot

Sports:
-Bull Durham
-Field of Dreams
smiley19.gif

-Invincible (White WR wins!!!)
-Miracle

"Newer":
-The Dark Knight
-300
-Forrest Gump
-Se7en
-Tropic Thunder (Really funny.)
-Fight Club

Fight Club is a movie I like ideolgically as much as I do for it's action, etc. It is about masculine identity and the debasing of "male culture" through commercialism. It's mostly white men involved as well, making it easier to relate to for me. I love it's message, though I doubt most viewers saw it for that. Brad Pitt can be a very intellectual presence on the screen in his own way if the role calls for it.

The best part of Stalag 17 was when Sergeant Sefton (William Holden) b**ch slapped Sergeant Price and exposed him as the traitor, then they all tied soup cans to him and shoved him out the door and he got machine gunned by the guards.

HAHA!

My favorite scene in The Great Escape was when Steve McQueen jumped the barbed wire fence with the BMW motorcycle, and also that scene where James Garner and Donald Pleasance blackmailed that kid guard by stealing his wallet and making him buy them a German camera with "2.8mm Zeiss telephoto Lens."

Best parts for me are the Christmas party and, of course, the last line!

-"I'd like to know what made him do it."
-"Maybe he just wanted to steal our wire cutters. You ever think of that?"

People think it's weird that this is a college kid's favorite movie.

Taxi Driver. It is easily the best movie of all time. It just paints a haunting picture of NYC life and the great music score just adds to this. Robert De Niro played his part to perfection.

It was not as good a western as Open Range but maybe a little better than 3:10 to Yuma.

Wow, that's high praise to me. I thought 3:10 was a fantastic movie. Edited by: White Shogun

That wasn't my quote Shogun, it was 301. FYI, I haven't even seen 3:10 to Yuma. Now I'll have to go check it out. Same with Fight Club.

I wouldn't dare watch anything like Glory Road or The Express. Those movies make me want to puke, especially with the way they falsify history to suit Zionist/Marxist multicultural goals. I saw Remember the Titans once and that was all I could take. These revisionist history, anti-white, wanna-be films are disgusting!

My 2 cents: Open Range was fantastic. More realistic than 3:10 To Yuma. Appaloosa looks really good and I need to see it.

Just off the top of my head some of my favs:

There Will Be Blood
Shawshank Redemption
Memento
No Country For Old Men
The Big Lebowski
V For Vendetta

All the James Bond 007 movies are good fun too...Edited by: Freethinker

V for Vendetta is excellent as well, forgot about it. Another great totalitarian government commentary. Hugo Weaving has a killer voice, too.

Wow, I can't believe only one person mentioned "The Thing"--I assume he meant the John Carpenter 1982 version. The movie is a little gross, especially for its time, but those here who wouldn't mind that would LOVE this movie. It is my personal favorite. The acting is fantastic and I think the plot of the movie is more anti-establishment than even "They Live", if less overtly stated.

Call me a punk if you want, but one of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned here is "Old Yeller". Maybe not the greatest acting in the world, but not the worst, and a great plot...well, for those either really like dogs or really hate them, anyway. And Spike (the dog) was awesome.

I remember when I was a little kid I was watching that part in Old Yeller when Travis was marking the hogs from the tree, and when they started attacking him and Old Yeller I threw a tennis ball at the screen because I was so angry. I knocked over a framed picture of my grandma and my mom made me pray in front of a Mary portrait to punish me.

I sort of did so half-heartedly. Then after that my mom put in the VHS tape of Swiss Family Robinson and I was like, "hey, it's the same friggin people in this movie..."

Both movies were cool, though. They made a kitchen sink out of a Galapagos turtle's shell.

Funny stuff. I have thrown a few things at my TV screen as well. I even bought a plastic brick during the Clinton years for that purpose. Old Yeller is a favorite of mine too.

LOL! I remember seeing the start of the Swiss Family Robinson and thinking the same thing. When they were in the lifeboat escaping the sinking ship, didn't they have a scene where they were going to abandon the dog, and the guy who played Arliss started yelling "That's my dog!"?

They actually made a sequel to Old Yeller but I was kind of disappointed. It might have been a pretty decent movie (plus it had the blonde from "Lost in Space") in its own right, but the movie had very, very little to do with the dog.

i'm in the middle of an ice storm, so i had time today to sit around and play on the intra-web.

i watched The Astronaut Farmer with Billy Bob Thornton.

i'm not a fan of his, but it was an entertaining movie with several good messages:

1) he was a white man with a dream he wouldn't forsake.
2) he had a family (wife and kids) who believed in him.
3) the government tried to infringe on his rights, then tried to cover up his achievements.

furthermore, the only black in the whole movie only appeared once, and he was a mailman. not a noble mailman who had all the answers to solve the white man's problems and make life better. just a mailman. that was refreshing.

all in all, i thought it was a nice flick.

I'm glad this topic was resurrected. Two movies a lot of you might like:

"True Romance". As Don Wassall, and others, were explaining the allure of gangster movies in that a white man will stand up, this is one of the greatest...he's just not a gangster and doesn't want to hurt anybody. He's just thrust into the situation of having to.

"Where the Red Fern Grows". Just saw this the other night for the first time since I was a little kid. A lot of you have rural roots (I don't, but I like the country), and I think that this movie embodies a lot of what is superior about country folk.

I also liked Ghostbusters, Shawshank Redemption, all the Indiana Jones movies, Secret Window, The Cable Guy, and finally The Elephant Man. If anyone hasn't seen The Elephant man I highly recommend it. It was made in 1980 and is one of the best movies ever made. Man that guy Merrick had a hard life. Ferris Beuller's day off is another good one.Edited by: whiteathlete33

Yes! Ferris Beuller's Day Off is an excellent classic. It's one of those movies you never get tired of seeing again when they show it on TV!
