Many youtube channel hosts spitted out those same remarks for months prior to the fight. They also quacked Rigo was going to assassinate Loma. Yep.

WBO junior lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (10-0, 8 KO) put on a boxing exhibition on Saturday night in New York at the Madison Square Garden Theater. The Ukrainian sensation boxed circles around the previously undefeated Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-1) and made him quit on his stool in between the fifth and sixth rounds.

Rigondeaux claimed he quit because of an injured hand, but no one in the building or social media seemed to believe him.

If Lomachenko isn't the Pound-for-Pound King, I don't know who trumps him.

From the first moment of the very first round, Lomachenko's superior movement, hand speed, and boxing skills proved to be overwhelming for the Cuban. Rigondeaux couldn't find any answers and he resorted to excessive holding and other dirty tactics.



Lomachenko fought fire with fire to earn his respect, but referee Steve Willis penalized Rigondeaux for holding in the fifth frame. A dejected and mentally beaten Rigondeaux looked set to quit, and I called it on Twitter, but I was still surprised when he didn't get off his stool to begin the sixth round.

The boxing community seemed stunned when Rigondeaux became the second world-class fighter to refuse to continue against Lomachenko (Nicholas Walters took the same route out of a bout with Lomachenko in 2016).

Yeah quite early in the fight Bradley was saying Rigo was going to stopped. He seems to have the same boxer's eye for spotting things that Roy Jones has.

Also Uncle Teddy looks like he has been probably put out to pasture. One too many foaming at the mouth pompous speeches rubbed an ESPN executive the wrong way. It's not like Uncle Teddy can foam at the mouth while doing a puff piece on the two fighters coming up in the main event.

He sounded legitimately happy that Loma won and even admitted Rigo was using his had as an excuse. He probably would have been stopped within the next couple of rounds. Hype job Rigo was exposed. Best fighter ever but now the blacks are scrambling for excuses.

Charged atmosphere at MSG last night and to ESPN's credit they have been "behind" Loma in a sense and the crowd was too. Yes Atlas was not in the booth, more on him in a minute, but a weird fight and all the analysis you need you can read at the above posts here.

Rigo is considered a top flight fighter who NEVER gets beat. So for Loma to make him look like a crab grabbing bum tells you something right there. Loma is the epitome of the sweet science of boxing. Watching Loma fight is like watching an artist at work. A truly sublime experience.

Interestingly the battles between Stephen A Smith and Teddy Atlas on the post fight report are more knock them out drag them out that many of the fights we witness on ESPN. That said Smith was going off on all the "quitting" and Atlas was saying Loma makes them quit. It is besides the point if Rigo had a hand injury or not. He was getting whooped on all sides of tomorrow. I don't like to see fighters quit so I can see Smith's point but the pattern developing that Loma's opponents can't stand the heat isn't just a fluke. He is too good and masterful and he takes away their courage. Also glad that Atlas was demoted which is a good thing..

Last night was just a reinforcement of what many of us and others feel . Forget all this Loma being ranked second as the best pound for pound fighter. Give me a break. Last night just reinforced the notion that to me he is the GREATEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD today and the MOST EXCITING . A star on the hill. A beacon of light.

Mainstream article on the fight with comments below. Some make excuses for Rigo saying he was too small or say Loma shouldn't be P4P1 with only 10 fights or saying Rigo was too old but many compliments for Loma too. What can they say, really?

Rigo did do some insulting and mocking prior to the fight, but, in the end he said this of Loma:

"He's a very technical, quick, explosive fighter. He is an excellent boxer."

So, no harm; no foul; he's forgiven. Wish him continued success at 122.

BoxingScene is hopping and many fairy tales are being told. One genius thinks Mayweather, who rarely knocked anyone out, knocks Loma out in 3. Another thinks Prince Naseem Hamed was better than Loma. One thread talks about why Loma "triggers" so many people. So many people upset about the new P4P #1. This is just another blow to them after their Mayweather and Ward retired. Mayweather has been done for awhile but Loma emerging as P4P #1 on the heels of Ward's (Fake P4P #1 after his "KO" over Kovalev) unexpected retirement is a huge blow for them.

That comment is only part of what Arum said. Arum also said he wondered how Rigo hurt his hand when he didn't throw anything. You guys do realize that Arum was being sarcastic don't you?
