I hope Boateng somehow doesn't start. I hope Germany's back line would be: Lahm, Badstuber, Hummels, and Schmelzer. I don't think Loew would take any diversity out of the lineup though, would he? Sami Khedira might lose his job to Toni Kroos during the Euro, from what I've heard, but probably not. I'd still cheer for Germany if they had Ozil, he's one of their best players and, and at not a passport mercenary (Cacau) or anytihng like that. Plus to 99% of American DWFs, Ozil is just another white guy for Germany, as we discussed in the 2010 World Cup thread.
I agree with Thrashen though, any team besides England, France, Holland, and Portugal would be fine with me.
“Die Nationalmannschaft” is indeed ripe with white talents, all of whom are tarnished with the fetid stench of “die-versity” currently afflicting the German National Team. With exciting white forwards such as: Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, and Lukas Podolski, athletic white midfielders such as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Toni Kroos, and hardened white defenders like Phillipp Lahm, Per Mertsacker, and Holger Badstuber. If you remember, it was Badstuber who was vilified for Germany’s 1-0 loss to Serbia in the 2010 World Cup Finals…and accodingly, Badstuber subsequently “lost” his starting defender position to the useless Negro, Jerome Boateng. I’m not sure if Boateng will start, especially since Badsuber had such a promising qualifying campaign, Mario Gomez can be used as a defensive substitute, and Per Mertsacker is supposedly healthy after having ankle surgery during his club team’s season.
Germany’s 27-man roster (soon to be trimmed to 23-man) for Euro 2012 Squad is as such…
GOALKEEPERS:
Manuel Neuer, Tim Wiese, Ron-Robert Zieler, Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
DEFENDERS:
Holger Badstuber,
Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, Per Mertesacker, Bendikt Howedes, Philipp Lahm, Marcel Schmelzer.
MIDFIELDERS:
Bastian Schweinsteiger,
Sami Khedira, Sven Bender, Lars Bender,
Ilkay Gundogan, Toni Kroos, Julian Draxler, Marco Reus, Mario Gotze,
Mesut Ozil.
FORWARDS:
Mario Gomez, Miroslav Klose,
Cacau, Thomas Muller, Andreas Schurrle, Lukas Podolski.
Of the five non-white players on the roster (two of whom may not even make the cut), there are likely to be two non-white starters (Ozil and Khedira). Ozil, who is certainly a very talented, world-class midfielder, is very light-skinned with jet-black bug-eyes, and upon close examination is obviously Turkish. As you said, though, to the casual intoxicated fanboy, Ozil is “white”…
CAPTION: Ozil
As you mentioned, Toni Kroos may indeed start ahead of the Tunisian midfielder, Sami Khedira, or at least cut into his minutes. During Euro Cup qualifying, Kroos started 80% of the matches. Like Ozil, Khedira could “pass the eye test” as “white” with his fair-skin, but his soulless black eyes and Arabic facial features tell the dark story of his ancestry…
CAPTION: Khedira
The other filthy Turk (who, unlike Ozil, could never pass the “eye test”), midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, will not play and may not even make the roster…
CAPTION: Gundogan
With the emergence of forwards Mario Gomez as the primary backup to Klose, black Brazilian import, Cacau, is also very unlikely to play.
CAPTION: Cacau
I’m not sure why veteran defender, Arne Friedrich (who now plays for MLS’s Chicago Fire), wasn’t selected for the roster. He’s only two years removed from a fine performance at the World Cup Finals.
If Ozil ends up being Germany’s only non-white featured in the starting 11, then I suppose I wouldn’t mind if they advanced from “Group B” and have success. Hopefully, the all-white (from last I saw, at least) Denmark squad will also advance from this tough group…tall odds, considering Group B also features Portugal and The Netherlands.
Naturally, by the end of the tournament, I hope that the “whitest” squad prevails. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing an “underdog” soccer nation such as Sweden, Russia, Denmark, or Ireland hoist the trophy. That is, assuming…well, you know.
