The best Stanford can do now is make the Emerald Bowl. Stanford will likely drop out of the top 25 after this loss. To top it off, Arizona is beating Oregon right now. I am very upset about this play calling. I have to give credit to the men announcing the game for KZSU 90.1 FM. They are pumping Toby for the Heisman and are ticked that the best player on the field was not in the game on the 13 yard line. They said "you don't do that to a Heisman frontrunner. He's been your recipe for success all year." Sad, sad stuff.

He had just run over and dragged 4 tacklers for almost 30 yards. I hope Harbaugh catches a lot of flack for those two calls. What was he thinking? He goes away from the most reliable player he has.

I'm still mad at that dumb call. As Kaptain said, no way Cal would've stopped Gerhart three-four plays in a row. The thing about the throw was, if it wasn't picked off by Mohamed, the CB behind would've likely got it.

Man, that sux @$$ Stanford couldn't get it done. Some bad play calling & inconsistent defense cost Stanford. However, we got more of the best tailback in college football. I hope Toby puts up 200+ and another 3-4 TDs against the Irish next week. I want to see him finish on fire.

Once again, Toby G. was fantastic. Didn't look too slow on that 60+ yard run, eh? The last catch and run was pretty special too. I just can't believe they didn't ride the T-train from the 13 yrd line right into the endzone. No way the Bears were going stop him; he had just carried a couple of their players 15 yards+ down the field. Should've given him da ball. They had plenty of time. Instead, they put the game into the young QB's hands, and he just did not have a very good game. Been watching him all season long. He's a really good QB and tough too. But, he is young and was a little off tonight and it really showed on that last pass. No way was that gonna be a completion. Failure to give Big T the ball at the very end surely cost them the game. Too bad for the Cardinal as they are a really good team. Gotta give credit to the Bears too as they played very well tonight.

Although many of us here are forever grateful to Jim Harbough for the opportunity he has given Gerhart, he has definitely made some questionable play calls this year that have contributed to 2 losses for Stanford. Today was one example, and that Arizona game was another. I truly believe that with just a bit better handling of that offense (despite the inconsistencies in defense) Stanford could very well be a 1 loss team (in the Pac 10) and would've clinched a Rose Bowl berth tonight. That would have helped Gerhart a huge amount in winning the Heisman.

But now, because of the team's overall record and this game, it's probably not going to happen. A monster game against ND next week, coupled with a poor game by Ingram may help some, but the way Caste media has been playing this whole thing, it's Ingram's award to lose. Let's hope Toby wins the Doak Walker award.

As the college season is winding down, let's enjoy the remaining 2 games of Gerhart's college career. Sure, there's that chance he may decide to come back, but he's gone most likely. There's now bigger fish to fry, and we'll start to focus our attention to what's ahead for Toby at the next level. The NFL draft is only 5 months away!! Edited by: foobar75

Yeah I don't get the play call, especially since he waltzed in on TD #4. It would have been great to see toby score TD #5 FTW. Now he has simply matched Al Bundy's "4 touchdowns in one game" for Polk High! Either way, I think with a great game against the demoralized ND team that he will still get an invite to NY. I'm thinking Ingram, McCoy, and Gerhart. If he gets invited then everyone watching the program will get to see his story, not getting recruited for HB but for FB, his athletic family, etc. I would be very happy if McCoy wins it, yet I won't be "pissed" if Ingram wins it, since they've been setting that up since mid-season. Anyway, most of the Heisman winners this decade are white regardless, the first time since the 1960s. If Toby sets the FBS record against ND (hey, it's possible) with 5 or 6 TDs (something he easily could have done today), then he could have a chance of snagging the trophy, with many analysts arguing that it should be an individual award not team.

Great analysis foobar! There's an outside chance Toby tries to petition the NCAA for another year of eligibility because of his sophomore PCL injury in his only game played in that season. The reasoning I could see behind that- is that he might think being a white RB- he has to win the Heisman to be a first round draft pick. And if he gets hurt again he has baseball to fall back on (next year's RB class should be weaker also). I'm going to guess he hangs up his Stanford jersey though. I'm mad at coach Harbaugh for costing Stanford two games this year with bad coaching decisions. I think Stanford would be the team headed to the Rose Bowl (with just the Oregon State conference loss) if Harbaugh hadn't taken overly "aggressive" and foolish gambles (he might outdo Bill Belichick for high risk gambles this year).

I highly doubt Gerhart wins the Heisman on a 4 loss team, outside of a 300 rushing yard, 10 YPC, 5 TD performance against the Irish and then another MONSTER game in their Bowl- against a "media darling" team. The "race card" might even be played by some if he does.

"Yeah, he's the only white RB in the top 30 in rushing- so they had to give it to him to please the old generation white folks".

Certainly- he's probably going to be #1 in FBS rushing with about 30 TDs, while carrying Stanford completely on his back, but since "HE'S THE ONLY WHITE RB" in the top 30 in rush yards, it's got to be his skin color that "set him up" for this (sarcasm overload).

I'd say Gerhart is the best back in the FBS right now, but the Heisman has been known to be as much a team award as individual.

The most important thing for us, is that Jake Sharp and Kevin Harris petition the NCAA for another year of eligibility. Sharp had a great year last year, but being white, a poor senior season due to injury will likely cost him a combine invite.

"Two white tailbacks out of 35 or so at the NFL combine would make Tom Luginbill, Dan Rooney, White Rivals, Hatie Smith and the white hating gang go into panic mode, we can't have that."

Jake Sharp and Kevin Harris have pro potential and it's crucial that they ask for another year of eligibility.

An interesting stat here. Stanford is 0-3 this year when Gerhart carries the ball less than 23 times. The only game Stanford lost this year when Gerhart carried the ball 23 times or more was the game at Arizona, (which they should have won if not for Harbaugh). Gerhart carried the ball 28 times for 123 yards in that game for 4.4 YPC (his lowest YPC of the year) and 2 TDs.

If coach Harbaugh gives Gerhart 3 carries in the red-zone last night on the final drive, Gerhart reaches exactly 23 carries and Stanford probably wins on a game winning 5th TD from T-Train.

Thats a great stat tuff. I hate that Toby didnt get a couple more carries last night. Almost seems like a fixed plot. Precautions being taken to make sure minds stay warped.

Thanks, I like to think I'm one of the many good "stat reporters" on this site. We have a great team of sport's researchers here that expose the lies behind the White Rivals.com plot. BTW, Welcome back P-NutLane!

Tough J, I have a question? What is this "White Rivals.com" site? Is it some site that makes it a point to trash white players? Please give me(us) a little insight/history on this site. Thanks

WhiteRivals.com is Tough's name for rivals.com, because they are so anti-white in their evaluations of white players. Tough has done some pretty extensive analysis of all the major recruiting sites and has nicknamed a few of them based on their level of fairness to whites in general.

No problem, Westside. Toby had a great game, he really did. I am still shaking my head at the play calling after his last big run. It makes no sense at all. I'm thinking of some new lyrics to the old song "Hot Rod Lincoln" starting with, "I do believe I'm a gonna start drinkin', till I learn what Harbaugh was thinkin'.

That game made me sick. I knew Luck was going to throw a pick as as soon as he dropped back. Harbaughs a great coach and has given alot of white players p.t. but what was he thingking. You have the best runningback in the country and a ninty some seconds left. Luck was struggeling and it was obvious he was forces balls that should not be thrown. The closer you get to the goal the smaller the feild more chance for a pick. IF toby could of scored that last TD that would have been five in a dramatic come back victory and would have given him twice as many TDs as Ingram on the season, now theres no way he can win Heismans don't go to four loss teams.

I am trying to stay optimistic, I think Tebow won on a 4 loss team but IF Harbaugh gives Toby the ball, how could he not the number 1 choice? He would have pretty much won the game by himself. 4tds and got them into the redzone, Harbaugh just had to give it to him one more time.

Don't coaches learn from those types of mistakes? Luck passed it the first time while Toby was getting a breather, it could have been intercepted. Why oh why didn't he give Toby the ball after that? He should be questioned more for this than going for 2 while up against USC. I would love to hear his explanation.

Thanks for the clarification Reb! I have sometimes called Tom Lemming of Max Preps an actual "lemming" because he has admitted that white RBs have to do more to earn the same respect as their black peers. He also said that black QBs used to not be recruited and now we have the same problem with very talented and productive white RBs. Lemming's rankings have gotten worse the last couple years and he appears to be chickening out at a chance to challenge the ever "white rivaling" of Rivals.com. BTW, white-Rivals.com has another "lemming", Jeremy Crabtree. Crabtree has eluded to the fact that he knows exactly what's going on with a caste system, but would rather work for a pathological liar employer and screw his own race than stay true to himself.

I was just talking to a good (but quasi-DWF) pal of mine earlier about (White)Rivals & their constant overrating of "affletes". Many of these supposed 4, 5 star "Bluechippers" have inflated/exaggerated #s (40 y/d, etc.), and once they get to the college level...their lack of fundamentals, discipline & intelligence exposes them for the busts they are! Meanwhile, (White)Rivals constantly downgrades their horse$#*% rankings for (so) many White players. You know (White)Rivals is hardcore pro-caste because so many (racially castrated) DWFs take it as the "gospel".

Harbaugh has done a pretty good job of bringing Stanford back to modest respectability, but at times his coaching has reminded me of his questionable decision making when he was under center with the Chicago Bears. Still, he has given Gerhart a chance to be the FEATURE BACK, when most coaches in Div IA probably would not have. Other than that, I can't say I really give a hoot about Stanford or the Pac Ten one way or another.Edited by: Bear Backer

I read that Harbaugh said that he wished he had put the ball in the Gerhart's hands at the end of the game.

This going to haunt Harbaugh for quite some time. Of course he should have giving the ball to Toby at least twice. Oh, well water under a bridge.

I still think Toby has a chance at winnning the Heisman. Say around 210 yards and 3 to 4 TDs at Norte Dame. While Ingram is stuffed for 40 yards on 15 carries by FU. We'll see. At least he will be at the cermony as a WHITE RUNNING TAILBACK!!!!!!!WITH THE MOST YARDS AND TDS

Though some will argue...alot of the *Star* ratings with Rivals.com is a load of crap....coming out of HS RB-Jacob Hester was ONLY a TWO STAR player!! Can you believe that! Prompting some dumb azz fans to question why recruit him?? Maybe as a token white boy?? Where they ever wrong!

I like the amount of respect Toby has been getting lately by the media...how can they not! He's a bonifide Heisman Candidate...He needs to be given a fair opportunity to become a "feature back" in the NFL...I want to hear the excuse(s) if he's is made to be a Fullback...I will write/complain to who-ever I have to if he gets shafted!

How is the NFL nearly 70% black...yet 12 of the Top 13 QB's are white(off the top of my head)??

At the Indy Combine a few years back... as RB-Brian Leonard is about to run his 40...the announcers said they want to find out if he's a Fullback or Runningback....he ran a 4.49...they said "yeah, he's a runningback"....even if Gerhart runs a 4.55 he's still a RB! Not a FB!! If Jerome Bettis can be a "feature back"...so can Gerhart!!

Here's to hoping he has a HUGE GAME vs Notre Dame!!
