Marcus Browne will not be able to fight because of charges arising from his beating and repeatedly harassing his white girlfriend.

Sergey Kovalev’s WBO title defence will be against Eleider Alvarez on August 4th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There will be a Dmitry Bivol WBA title defence on this same card. This light heavyweight doubleheader will be telecast by HBO.

If I were Kovalev I would never fight again in the United States. What a complete disgrace the two Ward fights were. All part of the (((globalist))) cold war against Russia.

Yes, I am still pissed about those two fights. Kovalev won the first one, and Ward should have been DQd for continuous low blows in the second one. Ward is truly a piece of sh't. I hope his big ego gets the best of him and goes into the cruisers and get zero off his phoney record.

Of course, I want Kovalev to win spectacularly. But I always get pissed when I watch or read about his fights now. In the second Ward fight, he should have low blowed that cheating f*ck Ward, the first time Ward hit him below the belt. So many things went wrong in that fight.

Can't believe Kovalev got knocked out like that. He was doing well and taking control of the fight. He was up on all the judge's scorecards. And Alvarez isn't supposed to be that big of a puncher. With how good he looked in his last two fights I am really surprised by this outcome.

Have to give Alvarez credit though. He is a skilled fighter and showed a great chin, and he didn't wilt when Kovalev hit him with good shots. As disappointing as this is, Alvarez showed alot of skill and character.

Kov never learned how to hold or tie up when hurt. Now his career may be over. His biggest mistake happened over 2 years ago when he failed to meet Ward in Russia for the 1st fight. It started to unravel then. Now his career is in tatters.

That shot came out of left field and rocked Kov's world, similar to Ward shot in the second fight.

Kovalev may have just have gotten old and doesn't have the same stamina and chin he did back when he was cleaning out the division 4 or 5 years ago. He was a long time Russian amateur who turned pro at a relative old age. Historically Soviet amateurs were burned out similar to Cuban amateurs because their coaches never were interested in professional careers for their fighters.

I can't see him coming back from this ko unless he gets an immediate rematch and proves that he can weather the power of the Colombian fighter.

So disappointing. Kovalev just left himself wide open for that right hand and just got rocked. And his career seemed to be back on track after the two robberies against Ward. It remains to be seen if he can come back from this.

Yeah I'm about as stunned as Kovalev is. He is thirty-five, and although for some fighters that isn't what it used to be for others it's still getting up there.

The last few rounds it seemed to be only a matter of time till Alvarez broke down. Then with one shot....

That's how it ends for a lot of K.O. artist type fighters. They start getting knocked out themselves.

Bivol/Alvarez now?

Max Kellerman as always was rooting hard against Kovalev. I've never heard him sound happier than he was after Kovalev was stopped tonight.

Props to Sergey, in the recent past he gave us some great performances and had a very good run for a few years.

Kellerman is always terrible. Roy Jones got in on the act and loved it too. Mostly they just talked about Ward all night.

I thought Kovalev was getting hit pretty easily at times in the fight. He was winning the fight though so it's a big disappointment. Not sure where he goes from here. He gave us a lot to cheer about so kudos to him on a great career and no shame if he hangs it up.

Who watched the fight? I heard that Kovalev was ahead on the cards. How many round did Kovalev win up to that point? It is a shame he got caught but Kovalev seems to have one weakness and that is his defense.

I think I had Kovalev up 4 rounds to 2 at the start of the 7th. He was getting hit fairly easily but it didn't seem like any of the shots were really hurting him. He was starting to get a good rhythm going himself and was starting to find the range on Alvarez. I was expecting at any time for him to connect with a good combination and really hurt Alvarez, which almost happened in the 4th. I think most people were expecting that, including the HBO crew. That's why I'm not cynical that Kovalev's career is done. Up to the point he got hit with that one punch, it looked like a typical Khrusher fight that would end in a knockout for him.

Same way with the second Ward fight. Kov was in command until he got hit out of nowhere. Hope he invested his money wisely. Maybe its time to walk away with all of his facilities.

Disappointing loss, but it happens.

Kovalev had a good run. At least it's not like he lost to some bum, as Alvarez is considered a good fighter. And another bright side is that at least Kovalev didn't lose this time to a Black fighter, as the idea of Hispanics being promoted as athletically superior is laughable. Unless Alvarez is Black-identifying? I don't know.

Personally, I hope Kovalev steps aside and takes care of his health. He's still young, and presumably not hurting for money, and he's had a good career, holding multiple titles. All in all, I'd say this latest knockout is his only real, undisputed loss, as I don't count either of his "defeats" to Ward as legit. Especially the first fight, come on bro LOL.

Then again, it's up to Kovalev when to say he's had enough, and who knows, maybe he can still do something in this division. I think the first loss to Ward messed him up psychologically though, because prior to that he was well nigh unbeatable, and he beat Ward's ass and STILL lost? That's got to mess with your head. History, I think will be kinder to Kovalev than Ward. Ward always has an asterisk next to his "0," whereas Kovalev at least has the reputation of fighting who he's supposed to fight, fighting regularly, and not running like a sissy.

Yes Kellerman still has his Ward fetish and seemed to be calling Ward vs Kovalev III.

I downloaded a replay of the fight and saw the ko again and Kovalev made the classic mistake of moving in straight lines and moved into an extended right hand that all but ended the fight. The HBO crew were howling that the fight should have been stopped after the second knockdown but if I was Kovalev I would have rather tasted canvas for the third time and know I was vanquished, than having doubts in my mind about a possible quick stoppage in a championship fight.
