I remember the good old days when Australia could produce 8 or 9 sub 10.2 100 meter runners and even Sweden. Peter Karllson I miss you as well as Tim Jackson, Matt Shirvington, Dean Capobianco, Tim Marsh, among many others. I cant beleive Churandy Martina is now a European. yikes.

Gone are the days of TRUE pride for one's NATIONALITY. Many athletes nowadays have this MERCENARY attitude of wanting to go were the MONEY is. Although Guliyev isn't the first of such case, his is one of the most shameful display of athlete mercenary attitudes ever.

Why get a Turkish passport unless you're guaranteed more money and better training facilities? Why many athletes think like THIS (besides money) is beyond me. Many countries (especially in the West) have this disturbing need to NATURALIZE foreigners as their OWN, just to improve their sporting performances, and image. Such moves simply RUIN a country's true nationality background. All in the name of money!

Ramil opened up his season running times of 10.43 0.2 wind and 20.76 in the 200 meters. So glad to see him get his first race under his belt. Good luck this summer Ramil both on the track and in the court room.

This is great news. I'm so happy for Ramil after all of the drama he has been dealing with. I really hope the appeal goes good in court. It's not fair to punish him for the World Champs and Olympics just because he changed countries. That is a little overboard. Maybe I'm being a little selfish but I really want to see this kid run. He was born to run. That is why I call him "Rocket Ramil".

It sure would be great to see him and Christophe both go sub 10 and sub 20! The future has arrived and these guys will be a medal threat in the future. I want to see this race!

10.16 with no wind or competition to drive him, outstanding! could you imagine if his father didn't die or the problems with his country? you are going to see sub 10 & 20 out of this boy this year.

Fantastic! Ramil reminds me of michael Johnson when running the 200, has the short, high turnover. a race between him and Christophe in the 200 would be exciting.

10.16 with zero wind for Ramil today!
Runs the 200m tomorrow.

Ramil's 10.16 apparently was not with zero wind, but into a negative 1.6w.
At least that is how it is being shown on the European athletics list.
If so, then it's even better than we thought.
Perhaps close to 10.10 or better.

Looking forward to more from him.Hopefully soon!

If this gauge is accurate then it would probably be a 10.0X and a new pb. This guy has world class talent. You don't final in 200 at 19 and not have the potential to be a superstar sprinter.

Your spot on white is right. It would be in that range. What an incredible race. Ramil is a stud. I can't wait to see him get some more races under his belt and hopefully win the appeal so we can watch him at the world champs.

wow, into negative wind! that is really impressive. its worth 10.07 with no wind & 9.98 had that 1.6 wind been positive. he's going to break 10 & 20 this season mark my words.

Ramil will be the next sub 10, sub 20 guy after Lemaitre.
Right now, I don't see any of our other guys getting there.

yep, as I implied in another topic post. He looks like he WILL be a sub 10 performer whereas we HOPE for others to be. As W/L said, you don't win a junior champs in 20.04 without having extraordinary talent.
Some of those other white guys mentioned are very good (a 10.10-10.20 PR) - Guliyev and Lemaitre are outstanding

Ramil also ran 10.26 100m at the same meet.

Yes, I have the results here. Interestingly he was only one metre behind Chambers so I'll throw in a prediction he'll beat him this season should all go well health and training wise.

-0.4 mps
1 Dwain Chambers GBR 5.4.78 10.17
2 Ramil GuliyevTUR 29.5.90 10.26
3 Adrian Griffith BAH 11.11.84 10.33
4 Aziz OuhadiMAR 24.7.84 10.40
5 Rikki FiftonGBR 17.6.85 10.47
6 Serhiy SmelykUKR 19.4.87 10.55
7 Ä°zzet SaferTUR 10.7.90 10.65

Guliyev pops straight up out of the blocks. Has some things to work on as he runs those 46 strides. Can Turkey provide him with a decent coach and not just a salary
