did anyone see that segment by Mark Schereleth? spelling, the olineman on ESPN, he was showing RG3's 40 yard dash at the combine, of course great technique being a track star. 4.41. Then he shows RG3 throwing a pick and running down the guy to tackle him, but running and catching up with him, is a 330 pound sumo.
Mark says either RG3 lost his speed or the sumo is the fastest fat man in the league, he decided to go with fastest fat man in the league. They both good angles. I understand coming back from a knee injury will affect you, but mainly trying to change direction, straight line speed shouldn't be affected that much.
More proof that 40 yard dash is overrated especially at qb, and I don't think the brothers on the team have exactly given up on him, that play was a lot of hustle by the sumo to prevent a pick 6, they are probably upset with him and diva attitude and bad qb play, but I doubt they aren't trying like dwfs are claiming. If he is willing to run down an interception like that to prevent a score then he is probably doing his best to block so RG3 can do something. ANYTHING.
Its always funny to read some black poster saying there is a racial bias saying people expect more from black qbs, they always say they have a PhD or something.
After they are proven wrong with facts that White qbs have been scrutinized for the similar things even, like making bad decisions, bad play etc. they never respond except for something like "you are naive if you think being black has nothing to do with it". His claim was stereotypical thinking that all black qbs are said to not be able to go through their progressions Well most black quarterbacks in the league do struggle with going through their progressions. Cam just figured out how to somewhat do it, but its really in the David Garrard style usually, first read isn't open, throw to a back or tight end. He isn't going through every progression to where that back or tight end is the 4th or 5th read, its usually his second choice. Pryor admitted he never knew how to play quarterback.
RG3 often stares down his number 1 read when its not a screen or short pass, I see it over and over. This isn't a stereotypical observation, its just based on fact. There are a few that can go through reads, like Wilson, even then they helped him along and used a lot of rollouts to cut the field in half. I'd say out of all the black quarterbacks that Wilson is probably the one that is going to stay for a while like McNabb, but its hard to judge this year, they have played a lot of weak teams, great defense and great running game. Nobody is saying Wilson can't go through his progressions or saying he is a bad qb especially in the msm. They haven't even gotten on to Kaepernick for his dropoff this year.
The spread option can no longer be the focal point of an offense, it caught defenses off guard. Teams figure it out, just like they have at the college level. Maybe Tebow could run it, and perhaps Cam. What they did in college when the option was stopped by the scrape exchange was just block everyone and have the qb run like a halfback with no reads. Cam is a little tall so will take more hits to the knees, Tebow is built more like a rb so it could work.
The spread option, just like the wildcat, is a wrinkle to add in occasionally. They claimed RG3 barely ran it but it was the basis of his offense, and lots of play action set up off the read pass option. Defenders had to account for RG3 running or passing, and Alfred Morris running.
Now if only teams got a little more creative and decided to have someone like Tebow AND Jordan Lynch (also built like a rb but can pass) lined up in the backfield, and both be a threat to run and pass, and you could have someone like Edelman (former qb) lined up in the slot, run the triple option having him come on an end around as the pitch man with a pass option, there are other Whites that could do it as well, tons actually, biggest strength is versatility.
would take a lot of work, the main problem is getting the blocking right without your linemen getting too far downfield and getting called for ineligible receiver, but I think it can be done. I mean you'd only have 3 receivers left with to catch it but it could work. Perhaps maybe in the CFL where ineligible man downfield isn't called, and 12 men on each side. They have more success with the triple option using the 3rd option as a bubble screen, which can be hard in American football like I previously stated, ineligible receiver downfield but colleges still have run it.
Griffin has been paid millions of dollars, and received Tiger-like amounts of adulation from the media, so I don't feel at all sorry for him. That said, he's still a victim of the Caste System, and has no idea. Again, they broke their own toy.
I wonder if all the ads and endorsements he did was to set up a precedent ...future income for hyped up black first rounders now that the rookie salary cap has been put into place. I think the class of Luck/Griffin was the last to receive big pay days before this rule. Now first rounders are making smaller amounts.
If so, it backfired, but wouldn't be surprised for them to continue to try this since most will be out of the league quickly, they want these blacks to get money. Extended welfare, because when these affletes make it, their entire families make it. Of course many waste it but they usually support extended family (which is huge for most black guys)
If you every watched the reality tv show with T.O. it basically showed that was the main reason he was broke. Something about making a bad investment or loaning money to a "cousin" (who knows if it was a first,2nd,3rd or 4th cousin) and crying to his "momma" that he made a mistake, which is why he was trying to play arena ball. Deuce McCallister wound up in the same fate, and he was actually a respectable black man, tried to set up some car dealerships run by friends and family only to be screwed over and in bankruptcy.
Of course RG3 doesn't fit the background of the typical afflete with his family background but he sure has the attitude of one.
