Justin Thomas wins his first PGA Tour tournament at The CIMB Classic at age 22! Looks like another young golf superstar on the horizon.

Congratulations Justin. Hopefully there's more to come!

Jordan Spieth lapped the field at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, traditionally the first PGA event of the calendar year, winning by eight shots. The field is limited to winners of PGA tournaments during the previous year, which makes Spieth's win even more impressive.

Young guns Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka were distant runners-up and both have a chance to become full-fledged stars this year.

Let's see, what else can be said about Jordan's win? He became just the second golfer ever to reach -30 in a four-round event, and he now has seven career wins at the age of 22 years and 5 months. Tiger Woods was 22 years and 4 months when he won his seventh; the only other golfer to accomplish it at such a young age was a now obscure fellow named Horton nearly 90 years ago. Jordan Spieth is helping make the Tiger era more of a distant memory every day.

I can't wait to follow golf in 2016. Spieth, McIlroy and Day, then there's Fowler, Reed, Justin Thomas and other possible breakthrough young stars. This might be the year Dustin Johnson finally wins a major, just a lot of great stuff going on in what is an extremely healthy sport.

Adam Scott has won back to back tournaments, the Honda Classic last week and this week the even more prestigious Cadillac Championship, one of four annual World Golf Championship events that always draw world class fields. It was Scott's 13th PGA Tour win, the most of anyone under the age of 40. Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and up-and-coming Englishman Danny Willett were all in contention the entire final round.

The Cadillac Championship was played on Doral, a famous course (the "Blue Monster") now owned by none other than Donald Trump. Trump arrived by helicopter before the final round yesterday and mingled with players and fans. The AP article I was reading today said the long-time event may not even be on the PGA Tour next year given that GM's sponsorship ends this year and because "Trump's relationship with golf has seemed tenuous at times since the businessman became a politician. His comments last year about Mexican immigrants led to the PGA of America canceling its Grand Slam of Golf at Trump's course in Los Angeles." So if no corporations step forward as sponsors and the venerable tournament is cancelled, it will show once again that Big Business is in service not only to outsourcing, "free trade" and other globalist policies, but to cultural communism and the ongoing rapid transformation of America into a mostly non-White (and White hating) "country."

C'mon Don the PGA and all of golf owes a huge debt to mexicans and hispanics. If it wasn't for them who would be there to cut and water the grass and serve drinks in the clubhouse at below prevailing wages? Why the mexican contribution to golf is huge!

This week's event is the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. Arnie recently said he won't hit the ceremonial first tee shot at The Masters next month. He, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player have shared that honor in recent years. It appears that Palmer's health is rapidly failing. Just saw him interviewed by Jimmy Roberts and he's aged quite a bit in the past year as far as the way he looks and sounds. He is 85 and has lived a full life.

Arnold Palmer is slowing down, appreciate him while you can. He had an impact as an athlete on American society equal to and arguably greater than even Babe Ruth, because Arnold became a star early on in the television age and took full advantage of it as he was a very shrewd businessman and marketer of his image, a trailblazer in that regard. He was also an accomplished pilot who flew to tournaments and all over the world.

I would encourage anyone who isn't very familiar with Arnold Palmer and his legacy and impact, even those who aren't golf fans, to watch the three-part series about him on Golf Channel, which just aired again the other night, along with a fourth accompanying hour about Arnie's Army called "Arnie and Me." It's impossible to watch without being greatly moved and filled with appreciation for this American icon. He was charismatic, always polite and gracious, had the common touch yet was larger than life, and it's no longer possible for someone like him to come along in anti-White 21st century America.

The WGC Match Play has started today for those interested. It's the Top 64 players in the world at this event. The first three days is group play, then the knockout stage for the last two days.

Jordan Spieth would have to be considered the favorite, as the course is in Austin, Texas. I'm hoping can right the ship a bit, so to speak, before the Masters in a couple of weeks. He's looked good so far today; 3 up over Jamie Donaldson thru 12. In addition, Jason Day and Phil Mickelson have both won matches so far. Bubba Watson halved his first match. Sergio Garcia and Charl Schwartzal have both won as well.

Rory is one down to Thorbjorn Olesen.

Jason Day and Rory McIlroy face off in one of the semi-finals tomorrow morning, Louis Oosthuizen plays Spaniard Rafa Cabrera Bello in the other. The two winners play tomorrow afternoon for the championship, meaning they'll have played four rounds in two days.

Oosthuizen knocked off Jordan Spieth earlier today and just now beat Dustin Johnson to eliminate the last American left in the event. Suprisingly, Louis has yet to win in the U.S.

Day surpassed Spieth for the world number one spot by winning. Spieth, Day and McIlroy have been trading the number one spot over the past year.

Dustin Johnson backed up his U.S. Open breakthrough win with an impressive come from behind win at the Bridgestone Invitational last weekend, a WGC event whose field wasn't much of a dropoff from that at Oakmont two weeks ago.

Johnson squeaked by Jordan Spieth in the rankings and is now number two in the world. The "Big Three" era of Jason Day, Spieth and Rory McIlroy didn't last long. Will be interesting to see if Johnson can keep it going at the British Open next week.

I'm surprised nobodies mentioned it yet, but with the Olympics starting, I can understand why. Jim Furyk shot a 58 on Sunday in the Travelers' Championship. In over a million rounds of golf on the PGA tour, Jim Furyk is the only man with a 58! Congratulations to the veteran on an outstanding achievement!! Furyk is another guy who's aged remarkably well compared to that Tiger fellow.

I was going to mention it but forgot; the Travelers Championship isn't a prominent tournament, especially being wedged in between the PGA Championship and golf's first appearance in the Olympics in over a century, but that doesn't detract from Furyk's accomplishment.

Too bad Jim didn't win, but he was 16 shots off the lead going into the final round and ended up only three shots behind the winner Russell Knox! I remember when David Duval shot a 59 in the final round to win the Bob Hope Classic in 1999 and how pumped up he was, esp. as he was always so stoic in demeanor.

Furyk is the ultimate grinder in the best sense of the word. Old school in every way too, goes about his business and is still often a contender at 46.

Here's a short highlight clip of Duval's 59 in 1999.

Duval's always fascinated me; it's pretty much forgotten now just how good he was for a stretch of time, better than Tiger Woods in the late '90s. After a bunch of second place finishes early in his career, Duval won 13 tournaments between '97 and '01, including the '01 British Open. Then he suddenly lost his game, and by 2003 had fallen to 211th in the world rankings. The media attributed his struggles to mental issues, but it certainly wasn't covered much; they were too overjoyed that Woods' main competitor had fallen by the wayside. While the media still pines for Tiger to return to greatness, without ever bringing up the 800 pound elephant in the room (steroids abuse), Duval disappeared without a sound.

Duval works for Golf Channel now. He's smart and has a unique and independent way about him. I've always rooted for him.

Just looking at this thread, what happened to Carolina Speed?

Hello CF and thank you FootballDad and Don for inquiring as to my whereabouts. I've been battling throat cancer over the last 6 months and I'm happy to say as of now, I am cancer free! I may post more about it on the Happy Hour Thread or Lifestyle Thread, if that's OK? I've learned a lot of things about throat cancer and their may be some things everyone here may want to know. Again thanks. I'll be in touch.

Ironfist told me about this on the old Kool Slim boxing forum, otherwise I would never have looked in on a golf board and known about it. Gods bless you, my friend! It is so great that you have kicked that old devil's butt! What did you learn? We never know what knowledge might help us here on this perilous planet.

Thanks so much guys for the welcome back. I plan on posting about my cancer diagnosis and treatment, soon. It's just been a tough battle and I am not 100% yet, but I plan to be. I want to let you all know about what I went through in hope that it may help someone one day who may face what I did. I'll probably post it under Happy Hour, because it's a much viewed thread and the subject of cancer will get a lot of attention as it should. Thanks again! I look forward to posting soon.

Rory McIlroy wins the Deutsche Bank Championship, coming from well back with a sterling 65 final round in windy conditions. It's his first PGA Tour win in 16 months but his 12th Tour win at the age of 27. He becomes the third youngest golfer to win at least 12 times on the PGA Tour, and now has more PGA Tour wins than any European golfer since WWII. Very impressive.
