Anyone notice how Peyton's "workout" at Duke included Brandon Stokely, Austin Collie and Dallas Clark? Seems like Peyton is no whigger..and it's no secret who his closest friends on the Colts were.
That said, I doubt he'd go to a team like Arizona, who's black GM has tried to field all black teams (except at QB) for many years and rarely ever drafts any white players (let alone a white receiver or tight end). Who wants to play for that underachieving bunch?...I doubt he goes to Seattle and plays for a sleeze ball like Carroll on a caste team...He probably doesn't go to the Jets, who are loaded with players with "bad attitudes" and "poor work ethics".... In the end he might have to, but that would not be his first choice.
A very fat man that's done a NYC radio show for well over 20 years, has worked at CBS doing big games in studio and has known Archie Manning for decades is reporting Houston is the place the family wants Peyton to land. Matt Shaub has only 1 year left on his deal and is coming off a serious foot injury, thanks to Albert Haynesworth. Texans could go with Peyton and have Yates and Leinart as insurance.
Other reasons Texans make sense:
**Peyton is from New Orleans. Houston is not that far away. Notice in baseball how Andy Pettite, for example, left the Yankees for the Astros a few seasons because he "wanted to go home" and play in front of his family...Pettite is from La.
**Archie played with the Oilers briefly, after he left New Orleans...There he was teammates with Oliver Luck (ex-President of the Houston Dynamo) and is still his friend....Name sound familar? So it's just history repeating itself....Son going to Houston after leaving his original team of many years.
**Peyton, no matter how much he tries to hide it, is absolutely livid and upset at Irsay for kicking him out the door. What better way to gain revenge than by staying in the division? Favre wanted to go to Minnesota the minute he was told he would no long er start...but Ted Thompson would not allow it!
If Manning does land in Houston, this would be great news for all their offensive players -- but Kevin Walter will have a guy that wont purposely phase him out because he doesn't look the part...Maehl might have a chance to make some catches and be, at the very least, a Julian Edleman or Danny Amendola type in the slot...and Daniels, Casey and Dressen will catch like a million balls..
I hope the fat man is correct and he does go to Houston...
