It wasn't the best of weeks, for sure. Good games by Welker, Walter, and Dreesen, plus the usual assortment of white defenders playing well, but otherwise not much to speak of. The white running back has once again disappeared after making a long awaited comeback in 2010. We're all eagerly awating next week to see how the Hillis situation plays out, but there's not much else in that department. Woodhead seems to have disappeared in NE, Gerhart's prime years are wasting away in MIN, while Leonard and Hester deal with any occasional bread crumbs that may get thrown their way. Also, it seems that Jordy Nelson is only allowed to shine every other week or so, and this week was not it. It's too bad Collie, Clark, and White are pretty much losing their season due to Manning's absence.
I think the only real positive is that the Tim Tebow era in Denver has begun. The ESPN talking heads (Berman, Jackson, Dilfer) did everything in their power to downplay Tebow's game today and completely distance themselves from the situation. Not even a simple "Maybe it's time for Tebow to get a chance". Instead it was "The coaching staff will analyze everything over the bye week and make the best decision for their football team". They are absolutely terrified that he could start, play well, win some games, and therefore that horse must be kept in the barn at all costs. Because if he's out, they know their agenda could take a massive hit.
Nice synopsis, man, I also found this to be a “down week.” There were some great moments of course. One of which was Welker’s 73-yard reception…
“The Patriot Missile” has already amassed an all-time NFL record 45 catches for 740 yards and 5 TDs. He’ll only need to average 23 yards / game in the remaining eleven contests to reach 1,000 yards. To put his young season into proper perspective…he’s only 108 yards from reaching his receiving yardage mark for all of last season (848 yards in 15 games played).
To be honest, though, the Patriots-Jets game was rather uneventful. Woodhead was injured, TE Rob Gronkowski was again eliminated from the passing game, Edelman was inactive, and LB Dane Fletcher didn’t play a single snap of defense (despite Mayo’s injury). One positive note was RB Stevan Ridley’s mediocre play (7 carries for 13 yards and no TDs).
After Tebow was inserted in the lineup, I began watching the Broncos-Chargers game. He played great, as usual. He immediately brought his trademark fire, will, supreme athleticism, guts, and intensity to the contest…
And thus begins the most terrifying nightmare of the NewsJews, the self-abhorring DWF’s, and black supremacists. If a Bronco receiver had only managed to catch the final pass of the game, Tebow’s starting position would have been guaranteed for the remainder of the season. Nevertheless, after the final play of the game, the Mile High fans were chanting “Tebow, Tebow, Tebow!”
