Like all blacks, Peterson has a large ego. However, he is a rare black with the talent to back it up to some extent. Even still, it is rather pathetic that he'd choose to shorten his career with repeated wear and tear than give up carries to a white running back.

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT an Adrian Peterson fan...but I've seen a lot of claims around these forums to the tune of "AP doesn't want Gerhart to get any carries" or "AP comes back from injury quicker than he should just to make sure Gerhart can't start a game" or some-such, and what I've wondered for quite some time is, don't you guys think that he'd react much the same way if Gerhart were black? I mean, virtually any featured back wouldn't want his backup to get many carries regardless of what race he is. It's in AP's best interests for everyone to think he's the heart of the Vikings offense (because this will affect the size of the contracts he gets offered in the future) and not a "system back" so I suspect that even if Gerhart were black he still wouldn't want to give him many opportunities.

I agree. There might be some subconscious feelings at some level, like "I'm not being replaced by no white boy" but I don't think it is intentionally race based. He's the best RB in pro football, that means he's a very highly motivated type A, hi-T, person. He's going to want to play until his legs fall off. That should be admired. What pisses me off is the team management wasting him like this. The guy is such an asset they should be protecting him like baseball teams do with young pitchers. Forcibly sit him and use up the back up running back who seems to do pretty well when he plays. Thats just commonsense.

At the post game conference he seemed very light. Excited about the win despite how absurdly ugly it was and how obvious it was they got some critical calls at the end. Not terribly freaked out about the Gronk injury (though also not knowing its extent).

I am thinking this should be his attitude. Grateful for every moment. Screw it. Loosen up. The best years are behind you. Sling 'em and see what happens. Better to go with an upstart, dreaming band of brothers than a group wound so tight, any sign of breakdown throws panic through the ranks. Any way, we'll see how it goes because the window is rapidly closing. Brady's only chance is if he doesn't care.

With miraculous comeback wins over the New Orleans, Denver, and Cleveland, along with razor-thin, grind-in-out victories against Houston, Buffalo, and New York, there is something special about this year’s Patriots squad. Previous seasons in which New England was “expected” to dominate in the playoffs (as they always did in the regular season) proved disastrous. This season, despite their 2nd seed 10-3 record, there are certainly no “expectations” for this group. They’ve lost so many starters, both black (Mayo, Wilfork, Kelly) and white (Vollmer, Gronkowski), and had plenty of starters miss multiple games (Gregory, Amendola, Dennard, Talib, Dobson, Thompkins, Hoomanawanui, etc) due to less-serious injuries.

Yesterday, with 1:01 minutes remaining, they were down by 13 points against a very good Browns defense, and still won the game. As you implied, this team plays like they have nothing to lose, which could serve them well in the playoffs, even without the impossible-to-stop Gronkowski.

Thankfully, the two players most likely to fill Gronk’s massive void will be TE Matthew Mulligan and FB James Develin, who had a bulldozing TD run last week and a dynamic 31-yard catch yesterday. Also, the loss of Gronk could mean that Austin Collie will be more likley to remain on the roster.

NE needs Toby, but the cap won't allow it because the fading pretty boy is a cap vacuum in his last years. Toby is a three down back that will bring up 8, but the brain trust is still going to live in 2007. In GB whatever McCarthy's shortcomings he at least knew enough in 2006 to emphasize the power run game and hence pro-longed Favre's career. As for GB they finally realized that the Flynn needed some short passes in the center of the field, but too bad I seen Jordy doing the lining up in the slot.

I'd hardly say Brady is fading, he has been really good considering all the injuries and the rookies he has worked with this year.

Brady has a small contract compared to alot of elite quarterbacks aswell.

Continuing with the quoataback talk - pretty much all of them were mediocre to downright terrible. Campbell had a good game but as his career has shown he will have many more bad performances than good ones.

If I had to choose among the current crop of black quarterbacks, Jason Campbell might be my pick. Russell Wilson does perform well, but I’m undecided if it is a by-product of an offense that divides the field in half on pass plays, thereby making the options less complicated. I’d have to watch more to make a decision. Campbell’s demeanor has always been acceptable, going all the way back to his days at Auburn. And you can’t complain about the way he targeted Jordan Cameron yesterday.

Gerhart's cap hit is only $1 million this year. Patriots have $5million in cap space. Hernandez's salary still counts as $2.5million against the Patriots cap. Brady isn't what's stopping them from signing Gerhart.

That's two straight games with really nice plays by Devlin. Great hands, strong running, and it's almost a certainty that he's good in pass protection. I don't think it's a stretch to say that he can be a better power back for the team than the one-dimensional Blount if they dare to use him that way. Belichick keeps giving obscure (obscure to DWFs that is) White players a chance, and they almost always come through.

The Eagles are getting better each week, so while a New England-Philly Super Bowl is a longshot it's certainly possible.

RGscreen is between a rock and hard place. If he continues to start, the losses will mount, the blowouts will continue and his fellow affeletic players will continue to mail it in. The season will become more of a debacle. It he is pulled in favor of Cousins, he becomes the point man for the disastrous season as well as scorn(if that is possible) and object of ridicule. One thing, I am glad I am not him in so many ways.

Mike Shanahan thinking about shutting down RG3 for rest of 2013

Shanahan wouldn't say Monday whether he would start Griffin or Kirk Cousins this Sunday vs. Atlanta, but Shanahan did say that if he benches Griffin , he'll shut him down for the rest of the year.

Shanahan said this isn't an instance where he's benching his quarterback because of performance issues. Instead, he'd do it to keep Griffin healthy going into the offseason. Shanahan said he would decide on his starter by Wednesday, but you also have to wonder if Shanahan's possible benching isn't a statement to his boss, Daniel Snyder.

Witten scores a TD by carrying two black defenders with him into the end zone, but the camera immediately focuses on Mike Conte, who ran halfway across the field and delivered a hit to try and stop Witten. Conte had nothing to do with the blown coverage or allowing the TD.

That asshat Gruden just said mentioned that both major wright and conte continue to struggle on the back end of the defense. Conte has played very well tonight, wright has not. Chicago's interior dline and linebackers are terrible. The cowboys are running all over them.
