This whole Alex Smith/Kaepernick thing is such a microcosm of the absurdity of the NFL and the media. Alex Smith was nearly perfect in his last full outing and was 6-2 as a starter. He has the third highest QB rating and the highest winning percentage over that last year and a half. In a league where Tim Tebow isn't allowed to replace Sanchez with the 4-7 Jets, how does Alex Smith get benched?
I knew the day after Kaepernick's last game the die had been cast. The media was in yet another over-hyped absolute frenzy about this new breed of QB who threw for an unbelievable whooping 253 yards! Put him in the hall of fame! And the week before he pulled off the miracle of a tie with the unbeatable St. Louis Rams! (thanks to two amendola tds called back). The voice on ESPN radio was telling me as I drove to work that he has NEVER seen such a quick release nor such poise shown by a rookie. Funny, that he somehow now has a fast release when out of college his big draft drawback was supposedly a slow/awkward release. How did he cure himself?
You know they just make this stuff all up. Quick release or slow release it doesn't matter. The DWFs buy the narrative no matter what the story. Tim Tebow has a slow release after all it was proven on MNF when they compared it to the Dirty Sanchez's release. Tebow's release was .01 seconds slower in the scientific study done by ex-concussion syndrome talking heads in monkey suits. You can't argue with science. Kaepernick is terrific in every way and will surely reinvent the quarterback position. The 49ers will improve on the dooldrums of the Alex Smith era and go virtually undefeated for the next several years - unless, of course, they meet RGIII in the championship games which is likely to happen this year as the RGIII led Redskins are not mathematically eliminated.
