Yea Saints fans hated Alex even tho he played great. I'm glad he's doing well, albeit on a bad team. His replacement Kwon has made many boneheaded mistakes but they don't say anything. A majority of saints fans also claimed that Trey Hendrickson only got sacks because he lined up opposite to Cam Jordan. Glad he's tearing it up as well.
dwid,
Alex Anzalone is finally getting some positive press (i.e. my 12/9 link). I think the clutch PD's in coverage are really the difference. Accumulating a bunch of tackles and being a "
tackling machine" is fine for blacks, but white defenders must
constantly ring up TFL's, sacks, Int's and PD's in order to stay as starters! Alex is nursing an ankle injury. Hopefully he sits out tomorrow (listed as questionable), rather than playing on one leg in a totally lost season.
Trey Hendrickson was "
lights out" in All-Star games. Mayock was smitten by his fast rise at NFL.com. He was eventually picked 103rd overall, even after a great Combine showing. But we were told he played at a
mid-major FBS school, so he couldn't go much higher than early round 3 (about 70)?
Comical how N.O. eventually traded two #1 picks to move up for Marcus Davenport from
Texas-San Antonio! Drafted #14 overall, Davenport ran a shade faster than Trey (4.58 to 4.65/40) at the Combine, but Hendrickson beat him in most categories -- short shuttle, vertical, ect. Hopefully, Louisiana based DWF's are impressed with Marcus' 17.5 career sacks (4 seasons)? Trey has an outside chance of getting that total this season!

Booth, as far as
Chad Kelly, as I noted in a new thread, there seems to be
new roadblock for white QB's. Since 2014, only 1st rounders get a legitimate to start/thrive in the NFL. Over the last 7 drafts, pretty much G. Winshew II (6th round) and Drew Locke (2nd) were the
only white, non-1st rounders to get a sustained, legit shot (not due to injuries). All things considered Minshew thrived on a rancid team in Jax. Still, he was kicked to the curb! Locke was not great, but he wasn't awful in 2020. He showed serious potential and deserved another shot, but Denver brought in perpetually mediocre Ted Bridgewater. Locke will be lucky if ever gets another chance to start again, barring injuries?
Point? Chad Kelly was the
last pick in round 7 (253), did he really think he would get a fair chance in today's NFL? USFL is coming back. Perhaps, for nostalgia purposes, he can play for the
Houston Gamblers, much like Uncle Jim?
