McCarthy and Dak Upside are a match made in mediocrity. They can look forward to lots of 6-10 seasons and watching the Giants and Eagles make the playoffs with Daniel Jones and Carson Wentz.

The media take is McCarthy is stepping into a wildly talented team. But compare the talent of his mostly underachieving Packer teams to the present day Cowboys. OK I will give you an even Steven between Vander Esch and Clay Mathhews providing Esch is healthy enough to play. But Prescott vs Rodgers? Please. Not even in the same paragraph. And the Cowboys don't have anyone near Jordy either. WR Cooper is yet another stat stuffing overrated black WR. A good but not a great player like Jordy.When it really counted down the stretch Cooper all but disappeared.

The local media is high on this Matt Rhule from Baylor and most but not all of the NYC media is infatuated with him. Why? His Baylor team blew a gigantic lead against Oklahoma this season and then got beat by them again in the Big 12 title game. TCU had them beat but handed the game to Baylor and then Baylor got dominated by Georgia in their bowl game. They hang on the idea he turned around Temple. Temple who cares? Then they say he made Baylor good again but his timing had something to do with it as the withering NCAA restrictions were done by then. Hell Pat Fitzgerald turned around the worse off Northwestern program so why isn't he being considered?

I get this strange feeling Rhule talks a good caste game and we all know owners and management get a woody with those types. Perhaps I should be fair and wait out their first draft with him etc. if they hire him but my instincts tell me if they go with Rhule the Giants will continue to suck, Daniel Jones nonwithstanding.

You don’t have to go past Rodgers to point out the difference between the Packers and Cowboys.

My local sports station guys were reveling in the weekend that saw all the old white guy QB’s lose, Brees and Brady, they even mentioned McCown, who is over 40 too. Of course they lost to young White QB’s...anyway here’s hoping Rodgers gets some revenge on that team from the northwest.

Thanks for the coaching updates. I believe both the Giants and panthers are keeping their current GMs in place so it’s doubtful the caste meter points in a positive direction. It is interesting that the Giants did opt for an unknown special teams coach. As far as Rhule - his recruiting speaks for itself - very rigidigly caste. I am hoping his standout DL LYnch from Baylor decides to declare as their have been whispers of him being a JJ Watt type sleeper.

Just in case anyone cared all the talking heads/usual suspects are outraged once again by the lack of minority (black head coaches) being hired. No word on them questioning the lack of white players and the endless discrimination they face though.

If any QB has a say in personnel decisions it would be Brady. If I am Brady get some receivers like Edelman, Gronk, Logan, and Amendola. I suspect he will have a say based on the affeletic receivers' performance in 2019.

The NFL has not acted on Jadeveon Clowney's helmet to helmet hit on Carson Wentz. Apparently they're not gong to do anything about it.

If they do nothing it will show they have an official policy of allowing black players to intentionally injure white players.

Peters may be the most over-rated tackle ever, regularly getting beat and often moving before the snap.

Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP Philadelphia expects the Eagles to move on from impending free agent Jason Peters this offseason.
Despite the Eagles' emotional attachment to their long-time left tackle, Shorr-Parks believes there is "almost no chance" Philadelphia would waste another year of Andre Dillard's rookie contract by sitting him in favor of Peters. With Dillard ready to take over as Carson Wentz's blind-side protector, the nine-time Pro Bowler will likely be playing elsewhere in 2020. Set to turn 38 later this month, Peters has been a fixture on the Eagles' offensive line since his arrival in 2009.

A minor incident in my book. Speaking of Edelman news just came out he played nearly the entire season with a torn rib cartilage which would have sidelined most all players. What did Edelman do this season? How about 100 catches with a career high 1117 yards at the age of 33. Saying he is tough doesn't do justice. The guy is a medieval warrior of the highest echelon. OLD SCHOOL STUD.

By the way it looks like the idiot Browns have hired constipated Vikings OC ( yes the man that tried to destroy Adam Thielen) Kevin Stefanski. The only good news to glean from this is he won't be in charge of the Vikings offense anymore.

Per McCarthy, ESPN is prepared to offer Romo a seven-year deal with a salary in the range of $10-14 million annually, which would blow away the current high-water mark for NFL analysts currently held by Fox's Troy Aikman ($7.5 million). It would be an eye-popping sum, though Romo would be a clear upgrade on current Monday night color analyst Booger McFarland, who has struggled to say the least since joining the broadcast in 2018. Romo is due $4 million in the final year of his three-year contract with CBS, which is set to expire after this season.

Jump off a bridge news. Carolina LB stud of the ages Luke Kuechly has announced his retirement.

This goes back to what I brought up in a post that head injuries are becoming a serious issue for NFL players and will most certainly factor in on a lot more early retirements than we have ever seen before.

Been a tough couple of days folks and this news is nothing but deeply depressing. One of my all time favorite players.

Carolina by the way just hired the LSU OC hot off his championship run.

Keuchly retiring is a little surprising but probably the best move - he has had concussion issues and the Panthers are going to be in a rebuild mode. He was the best LB of the past decade and a pleasure to watch. I have a feeling Olsen is going to be next.

Anyone with more than two concussions should really consider ever suiting up and putting on a helmet for protection. Keuchly made the best move.

Saints FB Zach Line retires today. A true poster boy for the caste system was able to carve out a 7 year career. It's a shame he was only utilized as a blocking FB for most of it as he was a big, powerful talented runner at SMU.

Yea that's the problem with a lot of our guys, they just quietly do what teams ask, smartly saving and investing their league minimum salary until they have enough to retire very comfortably. Can't say I blame them, I'd probably do the same but battering into linebackers that are 20 pounds heavier than you every week can't be good for your health.

NFL is still down from its 2015 ratings highs. I think it goes lower when Brady, Brees and Rogers retire.
