I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thought but I know this thread gets a lot of traffic.
The Steelers are regarded as having the best offensive skill guys in the NFL. The local radio station here just gushed over them and how talented they are. And then downplayed the Patriots skill guys and said they were just average. Some of the guys on the radio were surprised when they would go back and look at the combine for the Steelers. The way they talk about them you would think they all ran 4.2's and had 40"verts and then they were utterly shocked when they found out they didn't. I decided to look at the combines for Antonio Brown, Leveon Bell, Juju Smith-Schuster and Martavis Bryant, the four main Steelers skill guys.
Antonio Brown- 5'10" 186 lbs, 4.56 40, 33.5" vert, 105" broad, 6.98 3 cone, 4.12 short shuttle, 13 reps of 225
Leveon Bell- 6'1" 230lbs, 4.60 40, 31.5" vert, 118" broad, 6.75 3 cone, 4.24 short shuttle, 24 reps of 225
Juju Smith Schuster- 6'1" 215, 4.54 40, 32.5" vert, 120" broad, N/A 3 cone and short shuttle, 15 reps of 225
Martavis Bryant- 6'4" 211, 4.42 40, 39" vert, 124" broad, 7.18 3 cone, 4.15 short shuttle, 16 reps of 225
These four guys are good football players. Bell and Brown are considered maybe the best in the NFL at their positions, but neither one of them are superior athletes as the DWF's would want you to believe. There are many white guys who are the same or better athletically than they are. If given the chance those white guys would succeed as well. The only one out of these four who displayed good athleticism was Bryant who they repeatedly called a "freak" on the radio. But I know those same guys would never call Jeff Janis a freak who put up similar numbers.
Jeff Janis- 6'3" 219lbs, 4.42 40, 37.5" vert, 123" broad, 6.64 3 cone, 3.98 short shuttle, 20 reps of 225
My point is the Steelers are regarded as the best offensive skill guys in the NFL but aren't superior athletes. It doesn't take blazing 40 speed to be really good players. Which doesn't support the DWF myth that white guys can't play.
