Right. Another portion of the article that makes no sense is the claim that Brady has “Secret General Manager Powers” over personnel decisions. If so, then why wasn’t he able to influence the re-signing of his real life best friend (and the second most valuable player at the time), Wes Welker, during the 2013 off-season? If Brady controls everything, then why did he allow the Pats to draft Jimmy G. and Brissett to begin with? They could’ve just as easily signed an non-threatening veteran like McCown, Hoyer, or Foles.
One aspect of the article that really annoyed me was the portrayal of Brady as highly insecure and extremely paranoid of all backup QBs. He allegedly wouldn’t help Jimmy to improve his game in any way for fear that a few pointers might result inn Brady being overtaken by the younger QB. After Jimmy G. was traded in November, the article said that Brady’s mood changed completely (he became very happy) and he told people that he “won.” It also said that the reason Brady is rarely taken out of games, even during their many blowout wins, is because he doesn’t want the coaches to see another QB play better than him.
The media wanted Jimmy to take over for Brady because it pained them to call of white athlete the greatest of all time and the fact that Brady could still add to his legacy freighted them. When Jimmy was traded, they knew that Brady would surely play a few more years and this article is a manifestation of their hatred and jealousy of Brady, Belichick, and the “white” culture they created in NE.
Worse yet (from the media’s perspective), Garroppolo being traded means that yet another QB spot is taken by a top flight white athlete.
