Elway to his credit said that he felt good about Lynch and Semien as he should. Denver flirted with the idea of brining the toucan over last year and if they decide to move semien I wouldn't put it past elway to bring in either Idler or toucan. Lynch played fine in his rookie year when given the chance and I think he is the long term qb for the Broncos.

Elway must be all hopped up on horse tranquilizer to make such a stupid AA hire. Sure Wade Phillips will keep doing a good job with the defense and they'll probably hire a good white OC but you know Joseph's low intelligence is probably going to end up costing them a few games

Edit: nevermind just saw he's not expected to keep Phillips on, that's good news.

It will probably be a tomlin situation all over again - he had Lebeau and has Keith Butler as his DC and Arians and Haley as his OCs.

This is a Tomlin hire all over again.

I hate whenever that happens. The know nothing AA hire will get all the credit for the work of his White coordinators. I wish we could just have some full caste teams for a change, all the coaches and all the players should be black. No white coaches, coordinators, quarterbacks, kickers, or lineman to carry the load while the affletes and AA hires get all the glory

Everyone knows how little regard I have for my hometown Steelers, but I'll disagree on Mike Tomlin. He's not one of the deer-in-the-headlights black head coaches that have been the source of so much comic material. He's pretty sharp and he definitely runs that team. Terry Bradshaw recently said that Tomlin is just a cheerleader, but that isn't the case. Bradshaw has always been a buffoon and Uncle Tom of the Lee Corso type and voluntarily removed himself from the Steelers "family" a long time ago out of bitterness. Tomlin's been a successful head coach. He's insufferably arrogant, but he's successful.

Yes, Bradshaw learned being a buffoon could be profitable. And he's whined about Chuck Knoll being tough on him for decades.

That could be something like a high school team with a primitive wishbone type offense. Also the offense would never try field goals or play out of the shot gun. I think Disney films Gus would be what this team would play like....

You've forgoten more about the Steelers than I'll ever know so I'll take your word for it. But everytime I hear his name mentioned here I can't help but think about one of my all time favorite posts on this site. I'm not trying to disagree with you btw and the post is slightly off topic
I only caught a bit of it on ESPN this morning, but apparently Mike Tomlin was planning on going to law school, if he hadn't experienced his meteoric rise up the NFL coaching ladder.

Sorry, folks, but there are basic indicators of overall intelligence, and an ability to speak the language is one of them. Tomlin has a slight ebonics accent, and almost certainly is not capable of being admitted to any law school on merit. But then again, in Don King's America, Patrick Ewing "graduated" from Georgetown, one of the most prestigious universities in the world (albeit with that institution's one and only degree ever issed in "interior decorating"). Alan Iverson somehow passed the entrance requirements. Anyone who has heard this thug speak for thirty seconds knows how legitimate that was.

Maybe Tomlin could use his passionate interest in the law to fire up his troops before the Super Bowl. I can hear him telling fellow intellectual giants like "Fast" Willie Parker and Santonio Holmes, "If we win the Bowl, you must enroll," in the finest tradition of fellow legal eminence Johnnie Cochran. We can certainly imagine how the portly black pigs on the team could intimidate a jury with their affletic presence.

Tomlin, like any other black in America today, merely had to stay out of prison in order to guarantee success. Affirmative Action guided him to the top of the NFL coaching ranks in record time, much as it would have guided him through a law school he couldn't possibly pass with his own devices. Tomlin the lawyer wouldn't be that much more ridiculous than Tomlin the coach. Edited by: bigunreal

Jaguars EVP Tom Coughlin said, "Blake Bortles is our quarterback."

Considering Coughlin has "final say" on all decisions inside the organization, this statement suggests the Jaguars will pick up Bortles' fifth-year option this offseason. Still, it would not be a bad idea for the front office to keep one eye on the future at quarterback. Depending on how they feel about 2016 sixth-rounder Brandon Allen, the Jaguars could decide to snag another developmental prospect in the draft this year.

The Chargers moved to Los Angeles. For the past few years prior to the Rams moving to Los Angeles there were always rumblings of the NFL pushing LA getting a team and now all of the sudden they have two. I find this kind of peculiar.

Marrone for the first time in his coaching career as an NFL HC has a franchise qb. I bet he wishes he had that in Buffalo, but we all know all about Dougtavious' refusal to draft a franchise qb.

Pure greed. Why is that teams almost never relocate anymore in the NBA, NHL and MLB, while we see two teams in the NFL -- far and away the most profitable sports league -- relocating in the past two years, with the Raiders soon to follow? Greedy owners, who get away with it because their fellow owners are just as greedy. Whether it's fair or not to the city and fans being screwed doesn't factor in.

I have no sympathy for mindless DWFs, yet you have to feel for fans in these abandoned cities who have poured many thousands of dollars into season tickets and otherwise supported a profitable team, only to see the team leave because the city didn't give in to the owners' demands, which are little different than blackmail -- "build me a shiny new stadium and charge me only token rent, or else I'll move the team to a different city."

Word is the Chargers and Rams are bringing in AA interviewee Lynn for 2nd interviews. They sound desperate to hire a HC already. More qualified coaches still available.

Yes as far as I know even the Jaguars with half empty stands and discounted confections aren't bleeding in the red. Unlike the NHL and the NBA where owners can lose upwards of 30 million annually(if the stories are true about the Coyotes and Nets).

I am surprised Shanahan is not getting more serious consideration for any of the open jobs. I think Elway was an idiot for not hiring him.

Wow is that beyond bad. Take one of the most iconic logo's in NFL history( that cool lightening bolt) and turn it into a non descript nothing. So LA is two plus hours away from San Diego and with the Rams back again where pray tell do the Chargers get support outside of San Diego? People who live in LA are probably mostly Rams fans or even Raiders fans ( who will be moving to Vegas down the road). So if the Chargers fans don't travel north I would think the stadium would be tough to fill especially if some ( and there will be some pissed off SD fans) of the Chargers' fans stay home out of bitterness. Am I missing something here?
Don is right pro sports maybe even more so for the NFL are all about greed and they plays us fans for suckers.

To compound the problem the Chargers will be playing in a small stadium of around 30,000 capacity which is more like a Mid American College Football stadium size, until 2019 when get this they get to "share" home games in Inglewood with the Rams. Talk about losing your identity! It will be like the Giants and Jets who share the Meadowlands , that chemically toxic swamp wasteland in Jersey. Hell even the LA Angels (baseball) at least have their own stadium. Are the Padres going to (bolt) too. A big pretty naval city like San Diego just got SCREWED which is a shame. Those San Diego fans gave spoiled brat ******* clueless anti- American race baiting prick Kaepernick hell when the 49ers played a preseason game there this season.

Gekko: "Greed for lack of better word is good. Greed is right, greed is good. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all its forms, greed for life, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. " Pretty confident Trump subscribes to this. I could care less for the San Diego DWFs. Spanos and his family are getting paid handsomely. Kudos for them. Greed cuts through the BS, if not for a single family but for a nation of winners. One just has to take the risk.

Fandom in pro sports is for kids and DWFs. The few high earners I know view pro sports as a tax write off while entertaining clients. But their alma mata now that is another story, second hand story guy I know had a boss who gave $100,000 + to ND and got back endzone tickets. So he calls to see if there is a mistake and the man on the phone said "nope, 100k nets endzone tickets."

Do you feel the same way about companies that have been long-established in American communities and then move to foreign countries?

There are always exceptions for the good of the country. However, Government has to create the environment where companies can excel and profit. Already I see that Trump will create this environment. Thus, if the companies are smart and the forecast is profitable, they are not going anywhere. Consequently Americans will be employed. The country will profit, a nation of winners, for those who want to work and succeed. I see Disney in the crosshairs of the new administration. They will be advised to hire Americans and not have Americans train foreigners then given a pink slip. Outrageous.

Ford and Chrysler are seeing this, even before Trump is sworn into office.
