Agreed on Walsh! Should be a breakout year for him..Had no idea he was also brought along as a Pitching prospect as well! Pretty interesting stuff.

I been following the Cincinnati Reds as a virtual fan the last few days. The team got off to a real good start setting some team hitting records in the process. Although they did lose the last two.

I have not been able to catch much Reds coverage on the 2 big AM sports stations out of Cincinnati. One is Fox and one is ESPN so they devote a lot of time to their national sports shows because I guess everyone in America has to follow the Deshaun Watson story in minute detail.

I am still working on trying to catch them on TV with Amazon prime but may need to purchase the MLB package on my cable service.

i really like the team though. Lots of guys to cheer for and some good things going on with their hot start.

Just keep in mind that a major reason the Reds are off to a hot start is because they outscored an alleged major league team, the Pirates, 30 to 8 in a three game sweep. The main interest in the Pirates in Pittsburgh this season centers around bets on how many games the team will lose. Starry-eyed optimists think it will be less than 100, while the more cynical are wondering if they'll challenge the futility of the 1962 Mets, who went 40-120.

The Reds are continuing their hot streak to start the season. I picked up OF Tyler Naquin on waivers in my fantasy league and he has sat the last two nights. Senzel and Winker are both playing very well which is causing Naquin to lose out on playing time. I have also watched parts of a few of Reds games this year and their short stop Jonathan India has really flashed in the field.

My virtual fandom regarding the Cincy Reds has hit a snag as MLB has locked down any online access to live radio or TV. I thought for sure I could pirate it somewhere but all the streams I can find are scams.

I may have to break down and pay MLB some bucks which I do not want to do. At least with the Venezuelan Tigres I can get coverage for free. Dang!

That sucks @Flint. Dang.
And yes, for me, in baseball, it’s the globalist “replace Americans with foreigners” agenda that really bothers me. It’s why I didn’t count Suarez for the Reds, but am fine with, say, Madrigal, Rendon, and Yelich (who are all just as American as we are). Glad everyone here knows the difference between race and ethnicity too. Not being xenophobic at all (for the lurkers), just prefer to support fellow Americans and prefer we get our chances first in this US-based league.

Anyway, the Reds are on somewhat of a skid after the red hot start but still plenty of time to rebound. The bullpen needs help. Still lots of fun to watch. The logjam of Naquin, Senzel, Winker, and Castellanos in the OF is a great problem to have!

This Jackie Robinson worship is beyond pathetic. As much as I enjoy the game and the fact there are still a lot of talented white athletes the MLBs leadership and marketing departments have been subverted by the cultural communists for at least the last 30 years.

I refuse to watch any games of these worthless communists, but I do check the box scores for Trout. And it looks like he's getting screwed over so far this year. Lots of travel so far for the Angels, and days off in between the travel, so he's not racking up the stats like he could be. And now, today's game is cancelled "because of covid issues on the Twins". So no Angels games until Monday at least. Which means they'll probably make up for it at the end of the year with double headers and with bench players so Trout is going to miss out on a lot of ABs this year because of it. Or maybe they'll just cancel the games altogether because of a cold virus. ******* pussification of America. Damn these leftists to hell for what they've done.

Now Doubleheaders are reduced to 7 innings. The Little League Rules MLB has been incorporating suck. A guy on 2nd to start extra innings is anything but professional.

That being said. There have been some heroic pitching performances early on. Saw the Mets Jacob DeGrom struck out 14 Rockies in a Win Saturday. That's impressive.

Yea Manfred is worse than Selig as commissioner. Baseball wasn't meant to have a time limit applied to it. They seem to think that this why baseball has been hemmoraghing fans when the true reason why is that the fanbase has been alienated for the past quarter century starting with the 1994 strike.

I'm watching our Dodgers right now. I'm constantly amazed at how white guys keep coming off the Dodgers' bench as if it's a clown car for white ballplayers. Raley, Beaty, and Neuse got significant playing time this weekend against the Padres. It's like watching a college baseball team from the south.

I was watching highlights of the Pirates-Brewers game and a mutant named Daniel Vogelbach hit two homers for Milwaukee. According to Baseball Reference he's 6'0" and 270 pounds! That's well beyond Greg Luzinski sized.

He hit 30 HRs for Seattle in '19, but other than that looks like he's been a bench player, including playing for three different teams last year. Does he have any potential as a everyday power hitter? His lifetime BA is .203 with a lot of strikeouts, so maybe I just answered my own question.

Yes, Vogelbach has potential as an everyday power hitter. Coming into today's game he had a career OPS of .731. If you are above .700, the manager is going to keep calling your number.

Agree with your sentiments. The Japanese leagues allow just a few foreigners to play for them and reserve the vast majority of their roster spots for Japanese players, as they should. We as Americans should have that exact same right. Maybe allow one foreign pitcher and one foreign position player per team and reserve the rest of the slots for U.S. citizens. We don't need or want to see six Dominicans and five Venezuelans on a single team each hauling away millions.

Good article on what I and others here have been saying for a long time about baseball degenerating into little more than strikeouts and home runs, with fundamentals discarded along with much of the essence of the sport. It's truly sad what baseball has become as it was corporatized along with the push to bring in as many non-Whites as possible, from anywhere and everywhere since American Blacks who are good at baseball are few and far between. It's a crap product and that's not even mentioning its "woke" agenda.

Baseball was my favorite sport growing up but I tuned out years and years ago. I heard an ad on a radio show the other day for some call in thing where they were giving away Mariners tickets. They include a message that was something like “please make sure you go to the game if you win these tickets”. It just shows how little interest there is in baseball now. They practically can’t even give tickets away.

Phillies first overall draft pick in 2016 Mickey Moniak hit his first career HR today. Hopefully another young superstar on the rise.

Babe Ruth hit 60 homeruns in 1927, his high water mark for a season which for a long time seemed unbreakable. Then thirty-four years later Roger Maris came out of nowhere and hit 61 homers in 1961, the only time in his career he hit as many as 40. Maris hit just 275 homers in his 12 year career.

Mickey Mantle smashed 54 homers in '61, his best total, and he dueled with Maris for most of that season. 1961 was also the year in which the AL expanded from 8 to 10 teams, and the two new expansion teams accounted in part for the home run explosion that season.

Now it's 60 years later and is Maris still the all-time leader for home runs in a season? He was eclipsed by Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds, but all three were cheaters and none will make it to Cooperstown. Apparently Maris still is the record holder when it comes to accomplishing the record legitimately, but even he faced controversy as '61 was the year MLB increased the traditional 154 game season to 162 games. The pathetic fact that baseball doesn't even have a clear-cut holder of its most hallowed record -- homeruns in a season -- is just one of many reasons why America's long-time national pastime is now but a hollow corporate/woke shell of what it long was. Baseball symbolized the essence of America for a very long time, now it's close to nothing.

Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle and Tony Kubek in July 1961, a time when White men dominated sports and everything else:

Could someone explain how they measure how far the ball travels when someone hits a homerun? I could have sworn that a Cleveland hitter who hit two hrs, hit one that was several rows shorter but was measured at the same distance of 430 feet. I would appreciate it.

I nominate this for the best post of 2021 in any category thus far. Everything you said was true. Baseball needs to stay true to it's roots just like America. One reason I bring up God and Faith so much. When America
removes God from church, state, govt and school God will not continue to bless America. Our Founding Fathers knew this. Roger Maris is the true record holder but Babe Ruth is the best that ever lived. He did it without
vitamins, peds, fitness trainers, etc. Babe Ruth is just in a class all by himself. As far as Mickey Mantle goes he is an equal life long legend. I would put Mantle with Mays and now Trout as some of the greatest all around 5 tool players of all time.
