Boling has tremendous stamina! At the Texas Championships, he ran the 100m and 200m, the long jump, and the 4 x 400m relay (you remember that tremendous anchor leg), and wasn't even winded. Never even bent over. Contrast that with Lemaitre who runs one 200m race, and is so exhausted you would think he ran a marathon.
Boling is special in many ways.

The time he spent mastering the 400 (PB 46.51, June 16th 2018) has really paid off towards his conditioning. We are so pumped about his 100/200 times, we are forgetting he could probably get in the 45s in the 400.
It is so hard not to lament Lemaitre not living up to his Bolt like genetic potential, but I think Boling is going to help us finally put that in the past.

I agree with limitless, jacknyc and a few others. His running the 400 and the 4 x 400 relay along with long jump has helped him to have incredible endurance. He is also only
19 years of age. I feel like I never slept through alot of my 20's. Especially as a teenager your energy is off the charts for most kids. Especially an athletic genetic wonder like Matthew

Boling anchored the US 4x100 relay and led them to gold, and in the process set a (pending) new World u20 record in 38.62. WOW!!! what a weekend he has had!

Just a few things on this Boling " kid ".
1) I think it is absolutely wrong to try to compare him to Lemaitre at this same age level crap. That is like comparing Obama to Trump because they are or were US presidents.
2) Watching Boling in 2 4 x 100 relay comebacks where he sprints by people capable of running legit 10.6 100 meters is breathtaking. It is beyond phenomenal. His 4 x 400 relay leg down by up to 23 meters in a short sprint may be the most spectacular sporting thing I have ever witnessed. He wasn't up running against some slouch. 6 out of those nine relay teams at the Texas state championships were ranked in the top 20 in the country. That meet had more fans and cameramen then most pro meets get even in the European fields.
3) If he gets a better start and starts running against top tier competition ( no one is challenging this kid after 60 meters in the 100 ) as he will at Georgia I have no qualms of him running in the high 9.7 range in a few years. He just got into the short sprints last year so that can only leave room for improvement. The genetics and the work ethic are quite clearly there. If he gets the right pro coach I could see him taking the 100, 200 1 and 400 relays and the long jump gold in 2024. I hope its 2020 but his experiences at Georgia will ultimately decide that fate. He just probably is not going to be in the class of a Christian Coleman or Noah Lyles just yet. I hope I am wrong.

His start is horrible , lemaitre had bad form at the same age and was misstrained if you ask me. Boiling is more technically sound...9.7 is a stretch let’s hope he gets a legit 9.9 first, which he will...fix that start maybe 9.8 ....I think he will have way more improvement in the 200 considering his solid endurance and top end speed

We finally have a video of the 100 final at the 2019 Under 20 Pan American Championships. Not that good quality but it's better than nothing. This was a good race and he had to work a little.

Thank you WL for the video. He really got rolling in the second 50 and was pulling away quickly at the finish. Good test for him and he came through with flying colours.

If I’m not mistaken, this (2019) is Boling’s first year running the 100m and he has not lost a single race. This is some impressive stuff.
9.9 next year if he focuses on the 100 (and 200) as his main races. His big advantage over Lemaitre is that he will be getting some good coaching right here in US in an elite track program, instead of doing 10lb dumbbell lunges and being hurt all the time and gasping for air after running just 100/200m.
(Not picking on Lemaitre here, just stating some facts)
