Washington? Just great. I'm sure another mostly black team that has an ebony qb was just what he was hoping for. His experiences at Jacksonville and Cincy must not have been very pleasant.I would think he would jump at a chance to play for the Patriots, Colts or even the Packers. I don't know, maybe he just gave up. He seems like a laid back guy that doesn't like all the hassles.

Shanahan was fair to White WR's in Denver so Jones should have gave the Skins a try. Jones could have been the next McCaffrey...

Skills eroded and speed declined? What is he, 27 or so? With not that many miles on him. Man, some people do age prematurely I guess. What a shame.

I'd like to know why he retired. Maybe it was his pride, as a former no. 1 pick having to beg for free agent tryouts. Maybe the humiliation of constantly being referred to as a coke-head by the media and dwfs.

Hopefully he has something productive to do with his life and can go about his life in peace. Every athlete's career ends at some point. Jones has an amazing caste busting legacy, particularly at Arkansas. A rare two sport star in the SEC and the best football player in Razorback's history.

The small article I posted states that Jones has lost his freakish speed. I'd like to know how the moron who wrote it knows that information. Matt has been out of the league since 2008. Was this buffoon at the Bengals training camp to watch Matt Jones plodding down the field? I highly doubt it. I think it's more of his opinion.

An unequaled combo of size, and speed. Only droped two or three passes. With his skill set if he was black he could sniff all the coke he wanted to. Hell, he could rape ten white women, and kill a cop, and still be a teams number one WR. Thecastewhores have soiled their panties in fear of what Matt couldve done to shatter the caste system since he was a sophmore with the Razorbacks. Its more than a shame. This guy had the potential to break records. There is not a negro alive that could cover this guy.
One thing that can ALWAYS be said about the white man is " if he was black". I think Matt is probably the best example of that. If he wasblack he never would have been in any trouble at all. It really bothers me because he was the guy with the most potential. There has never in the history of pro football been a guy that big, and that fast, quick, smooth, and a great stiff arm. There was no way the modern NFL was going to let him have a fairshot. No way they would let the children see a big fast white man abusing thecoal black Ds of the NFL. No way this young manbecomes a hero. No, he must become abad guy. Wrong color skin for hero status. Sorry for the rant. Its just that he was one of my three favorite College players ever, and I had high hopes for him.

Question for Wolfman or anyone on this site that may know. I didn't follow Matt's career so I need a little help on this one. Did Jones receive hype coming out of high school? I know he played basketball but was his freakish athleticism ever mentioned? First I heard of it was after the Combine.

Hmmm.WOW! Hard to believe this! Sad....irony here is my 437th post here at CF...and he ran a 4.37 at the NFL Combine...

He recieved some hype as an athlete out of Fort Smith....his freshman season in the Auburn game he started the game as a WR...then moved over to QB in 2nd qtr..rest is history...a 6'-6" white boy burning the 5'10" CB's on long TD run...
This stinks...he's only 27...skills diminish when he's entering his prime?? A knock on Matt has been his lackadaisical performance in practice...who can turn it "on" come game-time!...he just doesn't dig practice.

What the Bengals did was not cool...I am glad they are 2-5 with no disrespect to Shipley, Whitworth, Leonard....

Hope Matt has a prosperous life in whatever he does...but hope he changes his mind and is dressed out by Week 11...The Skins' need some help!Edited by: TwentyTwo

Matt was a God in college. His College highlight is unrivaled. Mike Vicks college career is nothing compared to Matts. Its such a tragedy that this unbelievable talent didnt get a real chance in teh NFL.

the notion that Matt Jones' incredible athletic ability has "suddenly deteriorated" is laughable on its face. for a 26-27 year old athlete to suddenly lose his ability requires one of two factors: injury or lack of fitness. we've heard ZERO reports of either, so where does this "factual" report of him no longer being athletic come from? the evidence available should be more than sufficient to laugh off such a ludicrous claim. in fact, the last time he was on a football field he was uncoverable ... but facts, as is so often the case within the Caste System, don't matter.

oh, and for what it's worth, rumor around the state of Arkansas is that Jones will be goingto Europeto try his hand at playing professional basketball. "somehow" i don't think that would be a possibility if he suddenly couldn't run and jump.

I'm still a little shocked he turned down the offer to tryout for the Blackskins. Then again, the way he's been treated in the league he figured no matter how good he performed he wouldn't earn a spot on the team.

I wonder if he's considering the CFL or Arena League...below his talents yes...but at least he'd still be making a good living from his athletic ability/gifts.

So What's Former First Round Pick Matt Jones Doing These Days

It's been quite a fall for WR Matt Jones, the Jacksonville Jaguars first round pick in the 2005 NFL draft. A college quarterback, Jones entered the NFL as a receiver and, while he was disappointing as a first round pick, he had a few productive seasons topping out in 2008 with 65 receptions for 761 yards in 12 games.

Unfortunately, his career was ended because of several substance abuse-related arrests. He was released from the Jaguars in March of 2009 and had a few tryouts over the next couple of seasons but hasn't been in a regular season game since 2008.

He has since retired from the NFL after reportedly declining a workout with the Redskins in November 2010.

So what's he doing now? According to this tweet, he's playing flag football:

Riches to Rags Matt Jones first round draft pick to playing in my men's city flag football league..#wastedtalent

Can this be true? He has to be the best receiver on the field, right?

They'll never let go of their narrative. It would cause too many problems when arguing around the beer trough.
It wouldn't fit into their world view to admit that Jones's career was ended because he was a white receiver who led an all-black team in receiving. At the time of his banishment from the NFL, he was clean. He had already completed his substance abuse program and had served his mandatory suspension. Then he lost his wits momentarily and committed one of the most unforgivable sins known to man. He drank a beer while golfing*. If only he had done something minor, like mass-animal torture, or murder, then he would've been welcomed back into the NFL as a reformed saint. Perhaps he should've illegally sold gifts for cash without reporting the income. Then maybe he could've gotten his own special supplemental draft and gone to the Raiders. They like freak athletes, right?

(*Rumors around Fayetteville have suggested that this was a setup. That wouldn't be too unbelievable. The arrest rate for Razorbacks for minor offenses is astronomically high. Many have stated it's a game to the Washington County Sheriff's Office to nab as many Hogs as possible. Supposedly Matt came forward on his own and admitted to drinking the beer, even though no one could have known about it. But perhaps one of his playing partners was a planted snitch who threatened to out him. I guess we'll never know.)

Despite all the horrible treatment by the NFL, the writer has to add insult to injury and put "several arrests."

Jones truly is a rarity in the NFL. He's one of a only a handful of white players who was convicted of a crime. His crime is mild(simple drug possession) compared to what these affletes do on a daily basis. The league has made an example out of him and shown that any white players convicted of even the most minor crimes will be banished from the league forever. The bruthas can continue to commit murders, rapes, and robberies and are welcomed back to the league with open arms. Just look at Burress and Vick.

"Wasted talent" for sure, but not due to his own actions. The NFL and the media love a redemption story only when it involves a black player.

I remember the first preseason game last year for the Bengals. Despite all the contrary reports, Jones looked sleek and fast, with great hands. But he never got another chance the rest of preseason. It's no wonder Jones quit the NFL. He was subjected to the most biased media campaign to undermine a player that I have ever witnessed (although they are now trying to destroy Tebow).

They got him out of the league and they still can't leave him alone. This little article is typical garbage, misrepresenting his criminal record and making assumptions about his financial condition. Leave the guy alone, and let him enjoy his life.

They don't want a tall White man who runs like a deer (while appearing to be moving slowly) to be featured in the Caste System NFL. That would help knock out one of the supports that is propping up the Big Lie, that blacks are faster and better suited to being outside receivers. Matt Jones is a living, walking Caste Buster and the powers that be would have none of him.

Matt Jones is easily as good as Calvin Johnson, but he's probably faster and more sure-handed. Since Jones was a 1st round pick I'm sure he made enough money and invested it wisely to be financially secure for life.

The only reason that Matt Jones is not as heralded as is Calvin Johnson is that he never procured a good nickname for himself like "Megatron".:puke:

Matt is taller than Johnson & played a few pounds heavier.

Is it too late for Matt Jones to return and do what Tim Tebow is doing? I jest, of course. Imagine if he had landed on a team with some imagination and given an opportunity to fully utilize his unique talents.

Jones has been out of football for 3 years but he's only 29 years old.

A smart team would pick him up. He's the deep threat teams are always looking for.

If a team signed him it may take a little while for him to get back into playing shape but there's no reason he couldn't. He's a tall, fast long strider so he should play on the outside.

The treatment of Matt Jones shows the profound anti-white racism of the NFL and the media. Note that the media has used the time honored leftist tactic of ridicule in their efforts to destroy Jones's career.
