Freethinker
Hall of Famer
SL, I would think of it more in terms of Whites just making better judgements and decisions due to higher intelligence and better ability to think about the future. That was what I was trying to "awkwardly" express.
The money issue is likely another factor although that wouldn't be the case of the Oklahoma TE bolting or WR Ryan Swope never playing a down in the NFL.
We are going to have to learn to live with this new troubling reality. Which is why I get so upset when I see black defenders skull shot white players.
Many blacks grow up thinking their only way out of “the hood” is to make it as an athlete or a rapper. They literally have no other plan and will just resort to criminality or welfare when “plan A” fails. Therefore you can understand that when a black athlete makes it big at a major D1 program or later the NFL, they are not going to let concussion concerns stop their ticket out of the ghetto. They’ll chance being a vegetable later in life. For one, they need the money as they spend (waste) it as fast as they get it. Secondly, they have high time preference so their only concern is the present. The contrast is the White athlete who can bank a few million, invest it wisely and walk away while they still can.
Sadly, as fans, we want to see our favorite athletes entertain us for as long as possible. We also aren’t the ones dealing with ringing migraines, painful injuries, surgeries and lengthy rehabilitations. If I was in the shoes of Kuechly, Luck, Borland or Swope, I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same.
