Here's another article in which Durham is referred to as "extremely athletic." This is a guy who could be a big play weapon right from the get-go in his rookie season, but he has Pete Carroll as his head coach and probably Tarvaris Jackson as his QB. Collie, Hartline and Shipley have all played a lot as rookies the past two seasons, we'll see what happens with Durham this season.
Spotlight on Rookie Kris Durham
The Seahawks training camp started Wednesday, and according to wide receiver Mike Williams via Twitter, he’s impressed by rookie wide receiver Kris Durham, especially today, as Williams
just tweeted this:
“In Hawks news.. What a practice from the young fella Kris Durham tday. Catching everything and lookin smooth!”
The Seahawks selected Durham in the fourth round in April’s draft. He’s got a frame similar to Williams (Durham is 6’5”, 215 lbs, Williams is 6’5”, 235 lbs) and runs the 40 in 4.42 seconds.
The FieldGulls.com’s Danny Kelly
spoke with Durham back in May, and asked him “what his goals were for year one,” to which Durham replied:
“I want to come in and contribute to the team by making the receiving corps one of the strongest, not only in the conference, but also in the entire league.”
Kelly likes the selection of Durham, even though Seahawk fans initially might have scratched their heads in wonderment, and still might be puzzled at the selection.
“He’s an extremely athletic and fearless receiver that will go up in traffic to pull down a catch,” Kelly said.
“A guy that can stretch the field vertically to open up underneath routes for guys like Mike Williams and Golden Tate, in theory.”
Kelly says Durham will need some seasoning and time in offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s system, but he thinks Durham “could really become a good weapon.”
