I see your point

but seriously, I think Pavlik got ahead of himself and forgot about positioning for a moment in his bloodthirsty desire to murder Taylor.

Kelly the "friendly ghost" Pavlik did it in great style. So far, the fight of the year. I hope this will inspire other white youth to fight/live their dreams, no matter what the caste/racist media tries to lay on them. Kelly as of right now is a true icon.

Now if Brian Leonard gives a great performance at TB, it will be a fantastic exacta for the weekend. A weekend I won't soon forget.

Look at all of those white fans cheering. That's the way it's supposed to be! If Pavlik had been at an NFL field he'd have been booed!

Steve Smoger will be the referee for the fight. The judges will be Guido Cavalleri, Glenn Feldman and Julie Lederman. Because the latter two judges will favor Taylor, it will be almost impossible for Pavlik to win a decision. But I don't think it will go to the scorecards - Pavlik will win by KO.

And as it turned out, the "chosen" judges Lederman and Feldman WERE biased against Pavlik, and the other one too. Pavlik would have been robbed. But it didn't matter anyway!

Yeah that's great! I hear the crowd was very pro-Pavlik, good to hear too. I keep hoping sooner or later that people will wake up.

BTW I have an extra Pavlik avatar if anyone wants it. Just let me know and I'll put it up for you.

The boxing organizations pay the sanctioning bodies to supply the refs so they get to select them as well instead of both participants jointly selecting the refs.

With so many white champions and excellent white fighters now they will be difficult to keep off the television!

I had Taylor slightly ahead at the stoppage. His shots were landing from more of an angle, so they would turn Kelly's head more when they landed. Kelly's shots were mostly down the pipe, many of them splitting Taylor's gloves. They weren't as eye catching as Taylor's connects, but they had more power behind them and they took their toll.

I don't know why Taylor kept backing to the ropes. Every time he did Pavlik would find the range and do most of his damage. Then he finally found the sweet spot on Taylor's chin.

Great, great win. The best by a white American in a long time, and the first one over an elite talent in decades. Another step forward in the comeback.

Pavlik is the truth. He can be a special fighter. I thought Taylor looked the best he has looked since he beat Hopkins in 05'. So there aren't any excuses about his loss. He lost to to the better man. I was suprised that Pavlik made it out of the second round but not suprised that once he did he kept on coming his fighting heart is top notch...

It was good to see that Jermain Taylor was a good sport, giving Pavlik credit for the win and blaming himself for losing.

Kelly is without a doubt the best middleweight in the world today. Sturm is a white warrior and a champion. Abraham is a white warrior and a champion. However, with Kelly Pavlik busting up Miranda, now Taylor (in dominate fashion with both may I say)there is not a doubt as to who is the Middleweight King is. Come to think of it we own ALL the titles at middleweight now.
I guess all the potentially dominate black middleweights are playing badminton.

I would say he is. Probably on the fringe. However I would say he is white. My grandmother is from Slovakia and is probably a similar skintone. I suppose it all comes down to what you consider white. He would be about the limit as far as what I would consider white. Is Sultan Ibragimov white? I believe he is from Chechnya. Not very far off from Armenia.
Is Ruslan Chagaev white? He looks less white than Abraham to me.
I don't know. If you only consider scandanavians, and Anglos white I suppose he is not. In fact some would probably say I am not white even though ALL my ancestors originate from Europe. (Due to Slavic blood).
I really don't want to debate what is and what is not white.

Arthur Abraham is white. He is an Armenian, although he has a jewish name? But he is considered caucsian. I believe Pavlik would be beat Strum relatively easy. But with Abraham he could not afford to be hit like he was against Taylor. Abraham also has incredible power.

But right now I want to bask in Kelly's outstanding victory over a world class fight. It was cool that Taylor was a true sportsman, giving Kelly the credit he deserved.

FightNews: "Taylor was far ahead on all three official cards by scores of 58-55, 59-54, 58-55."

Pavlik was ahead on points, on my scorecard and even on the announcer's scorecard. Had it gone to decision the fix was in - as we all knew it would be.

!!! Hopefully now we will see more white American fighters emerge from the depths and wipe away this myth of white Americna fighters. Kelly is a great role model aswell, which is great.

Hopefully Calzaghe will once again offer Jermain a fight (which Jermain will find it hard to turn down as he needs to get back on track) and then Calzghe will make Jermain bite the dust again! WOOOHOOO!

They already have a rematch clause and both fighters, Taylor's promoter, and it seem already HBO are wanting that. I just don't see too much changing in the next fight and Pavlik doing the same thing. For Calzaghe, if he beats Kessler, they say that Golden Boy Promotions has a Hopkins-Calzaghe fight in the wings. I would like to see Abraham come to America and fight. There are a bunch of great fights out there! Edited by: mrjohnnynofear

ESPN and Fox apparently have reported the fight on their homepage, but did anybody see if ESPN reported it on TV - Sportscenter? This was a major superfight where the only remaining black superstar got KOed. Remember the week long press Rampage Jackson recieved after beating Lydell? Also, the Hopkins vs. Taylor fights made ESPN as well as every Taylor fight the last few years.

Pavlik has to be Ring's 2007 fighter of the year so far. His trademark KOs (where opponents are out before they hit the ground)are incredible and beating Taylor, Miranda and Zertuche in one year leaves no questions about who is the man at 160.

If Hatton beats Mayweather then they may give it to Ricky. But right now it is Kelly's year. We now have 2 white American title holders (Paulie Malignaggi won the junior welter belt this June). Jason Litzau should also get a belt in 2008 at junior featherweight.

Whites own 15 of the 20 belts from middle to heavyweight. Too bad Diaconu got injured as we would have had 16 this morning.

That was a hellava fight, those guys were bombing each other, I thought either guy could go at any time the way they were hammering each other, Pavlik's jab was scoring at will and it just added up, but Kelly took some shots too. They rarely clinched and the action was furious. Just a great entertaining fight and a win for the good guys!

Very strange. I believe Lederman- well known around here for complaining about Klitschko and Hatton- had Pavlik up one point and Merchant had Taylor up one point. Close scores, unlike the judges. Unbelievable that one judge gave five out of six rounds to Taylor. (But then again, after I saw a replay of the O'Neill Bell/ Dale Brown fight on ESPN Classics a few months ago, and witnessing Brown lose a UD in a fight that he won at least 8 or 9 rounds... well, nothing should be too shocking anymore!) And most importantly, Taylor thought he was losing the fight!!

ESPNews replayed the KO immediately after the fight. I didn't watch SportsCenter, so I'm not sure about that.
