Yeah pisses me off Vlad had Joshua just a couple punches away in the 7th. When Joshua made it out I told myself I thought what a bitch if he ends up winning.

Vlad was fighting forty-one years along with Joshua in there tonight.

Damn Wlad gets caught and TKOed in the 11th. Not sure of the stoppage as the stream sputtered.

the ref stopped the fight with about 45 seconds left - but they are saying that neither Wlad nor his corner complained

Damn - Wlad him out on his feet in what was it rd. 6 - but he couldn't finish him off.
Yup, even in the 7th, if Wlad could have land just one of his hooks game over. But no one ever beats father time.

Joshua is a B level heavyweight. He will get stopped by a fighter who is younger that Wlad and can put together shots to end a fight. Wlad could not put those shots together to end a fight.

Wlad gave it a good go. Respect to Joshua for winning. Respect to Klitshcko for even getting in the ring.

Considering his age, he has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. He pushed Joshua much harder than anyone else.

I think Klitschko should hang em up now. He's had a great career, he's presumably got millions in the bank, he's got a nice family, he hasn't taken too many shots to the head and he isn't punch drunk. He can walk away now and be Joshua's trainer or something, or maybe train a young White fighter.

He's got a right to the rematch per the contract, but I don't know about getting in the ring again. I prefer to remember Klitschko as he was, rather than as he is. I mean as he is, as an athlete. It's over in-ring, and it's okay.

As a man, outside of the sport, it's just beginning. He's a 41 year old with a PhD. He's a young professor. He can teach, he can write books, give speeches. He's got life by the nutsack.

So even in a loss, he wins.

I like Joshua a lot better than David Haye, at least. It would have sucked to have David Haye beat Wlad. At least Joshua doesn't come off like a jerk. Reverse the colors, and he's a lot more likeable, at least to me, than Tyson Fury, who acts like an annoying Chav stereotype. Fury being White, I still like him better than Joshua, but it's something to consider. It could be worse. Joshua at least gave the great, old champ his respect, man to man, and champion to champion.

Eventually, every torch goes out or needs to be passed.

One day Usain Bolt will come in second. Or third. Or DNF.

One day Michael Phelps will realize he can't keep up anymore.

Happened to Jeremy Wariner. Remember him?

What I don't like about this fight is that a lot of DWFs will use Joshua's win as a means to discredit Wladimir's entire legacy, as if he was never anything special, and was an overhyped bum.

We could list any number of great colored fighters who hung around too long—and lots were way younger than 41 when they lost decisively—and were bested by the next up and comer, and how no DWFs think less of them (Oscar De La Hoya [White but whatever], Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Bernard Hopkins come to mind), but we'd be fighting a losing battle.

Best to concentrate on the fact that there are still lots and lots of good White fighters out there to cheer for, even now that Wladimir has had his day in the sun.

I for one am looking forward to the June match between Kovalev and Andre Son of a BIIIIITCH Ward.

Boxing ebbs and flows. Here White fighters dominate, there Black fighters dominate, then it comes around again.

That's sports.

Sadly, a lot of DWFs see Joshua's victory as putting the heavyweight crown and belt rightfully on a Black skull and waist. Doesn't matter whose, as long as the person is Black.

Thanks Wladimir Klitschko, for everything. You were and are great.

And now here's to GGG decapitating the next Great Black Hope at middle.

Yeah... In hindsight Wlad should have gone for broke when he had the black moslem in trouble in the middle rounds, especially at the end of round six when he was virtually out on his feet. Instead of doing that he just continued to pace himself. Same mistake Gerry Cooney made against Holmes in 1982.

Correct again. Wlad or corner should have told him to go for broke, even in the 7th rd AJ was just lumbering around taking jab after jab. Oh well, water under the bridge. I have all the respect for Wlad for giving it a great effort. Already the n*ggas and some DWFs are in wet dream mode for the AJ win. I told a couple of them that AJ beat an old man. And lets see if he can hold down the heavyweight division for 10 years. No response yet from those idiot pricks.

Wlad was controlling the fight and winning until that 11th rnd.Feel devastated for him because he's gonna be really hurting hopefully he has the support of his close friends and family.Joshua on the other hand is a fighter with a lot of flaws.Pulev is his mandatory and i give him a good shot at outboxing him.

This is why you don't have your friend as your chief second. You think Emmanuel Steward would have let Wlad sleep walk in the 7th round. Klitschko's cautious to a fault style bit him in the ass. The only thing I can think of is maybe he was gassed himself when he let Joshua get back his energy levels.

Ps if the 11th round played out like the previous rounds we would have had another controversial scoring decision as 2 judges had Joshua up by 2 points and one had Wlad up by 2 points. Also there could be a rematch but you would have to think this is the high water mark of Wlad's skill level and the physical decline would be more apparent in a rematch.

Wlad had a great run. Knocking out black hopes after the next during his 10-year reign. His apex was shutting down Haye. that fight, alot of ppl were expecting Haye to KO and remove the "white myth " of the 2000s in heavyweight boxing. Did not happen then and will not happen now.

Wlad messed up by not finishing Joshua in the 6th. He should have went all out. Joshua was hurt bad and extremely tired. The reason he spit out his mouthpiece was to buy time.

Pretty frustrating boxing for whites guys lately. Troyansky and his terrible loss, Kovalev getting robbed, and now we have two black heavyweight champions and a Samoan. That idiot Fury had all the belts and the moron decided to get fat and do coke. Now look at what has happened. Who is going to beat wilder and the roided up Muslim? Pulev isn't good enough and I don't know of any superstar up and coming white fighters. Don't know how good Morrison's son is but we will soon find out.

F'n Fury. He sent the heavyweight division into chaos and into black hands. God, what an idiot with no discipline. He literally threw the belts away cuz he could not stop eating and doing blow. I do not think he has a good chance against Wilder or AJ. What a disgrace.

Wlad had a historic career, one of the most imposing and dominating heavyweight champions of all time, though I still like Vitali better. The Klitschko brothers were probably the greatest caste-busting athletes of at least the last 20 years, maybe of all time. They absolutely dominated black fighters for 15+ years. Before they emerged on the scene it was just taken for granted by blacks and the whole Heeb-run sports media that the heavyweight championship would just belong to blacks forever. The Klitschkos took it and held it in dominating fashion for 15 years. And they both have PhDs and were the classiest, best ambassadors for the sport imagineable. Now we are just waiting for the next White heavyweight champion to emerge.

Frustrating to see Wlad take the loss, but it's time to hang it up. He is one of the greatest ever. A younger version would have killed Joshua in there. One positive is that Joshua took a beating which takes years off a career and was exposed. Call me crazy but I think in a couple years we will see Trey Lippe going for a title.

reflecting on his career, he always had a problem with just letting his hands go. I think early losses to Puritty and Sanders made him too cautious. He boxed more rounds than he should have and lost some fights he should not have. I personally think he could have overwhelmed Fury and Gaye.

Povetkin would give Joshua hell, but the anti white boxing establishment has derailed Povetkin's career.

If Wlad would have really connected with the follow up left hook, instead of grazing AJ, AJ would not have gotten up. A game of inches.

Joshua looks like he dove on the mat after Wlad connected with the straight right and then was moving in and about to follow up with the left hook. Joshua knew he was hurt from the right and would have been hurt worse with the left hook, and that's why he dove on the canvas.

And also the 7th and 8th. He had the bum at his mercy and he let him get away!

Judging by their respective performances against Wlad and Thompson I don't think Pulev can beat Joshua - but I think Povetkin would go right at him right at the start and knock the bum out.

Early this morning I saw this bout. The result is not entirely surprising, and was probably preventable, though not by any of us, as we are only spectators. If Wlad will not throw punches maybe he throws fights?

I wrote above, we wrote above, Peter Fury is quoted above, and the consensus was that to keep Joshua’s (Mohammed’s) pressure in check, Wlad needed not just his skills and movement, but a striking jab that hurts. As simple as Wlad’s brother’s technique was, he always repeated this no matter who he fought. Wlad simply didn’t do this throughout the fight and Mohammed was able to close the distance and hit him enough to give the ref a reason to stop the fight. Pressure fighters have to be stopped in their pursuit to heel their attacks.

Wlad was the best heavyweight in the world for more than a decade because he was versatile, he could box, and had something better than almost everyone he faced. Long reigning boxers always have a deep chest of skills from which to use against the variety of styles that always come forward to challenge them. Calzaghe, Hopkins, Willie Pep, Sugar Ray Robinson, Lomachenko, Mayweather, and so on are all great because of their very deep wells of skills. Wladimir belongs with this group.

Whatever anyone makes of Joshua (Mohammed), he has not the skills to “take on all comers” and beat them all. Some on this site seem to think he’s the next Wladimir Klitschko? No, he has three punches, two high arms, and a big, tall body; he is a top half fighter with very good power; and, that is about all. I suspect a very large grin on Tyson Fury’s face right now.
