Back in 2007, Witten became the first white TE to achieve a 1,000-yard receiving season since Mark Bavaro in 1986. Since Witten’s critical breakthrough that season, we’ve seen Rob Gronkowski, Greg Olsen, and Dallas Clark follow his lead. This season, Kelce and Barnidge have a chance to make the mark, too. I consider Witten, whose ability and demeanor should be the “Prototypical TE†that all teams covet, to be the father of the current “White TE Renaissance.â€
