Ok, looking into the crystal ball a bit.
Hunter will be a junior next season.
His sophomore numbers:
1,842yd 25td 10.53ypc
Named to the Nike Underclassmen All-American team.
Hunter attended a school that was not part of the normal North Carolina High School Athletic Association. It was a separate AA of independent schools. So his football numbers must be considered in that context. However, he's also the two time defending champion in the 100m and 200m dash in that athletic association, and his times are two-tenths and one-tenth, respectively, behind the state champion times in the larger "official" NCHSAA.
This upcoming season, he's transfering to a larger high school that is part of the NCHSAA and plays in the top classification in the state. Demographics 2:1 white/black. Hope he gets to play.
Has already been offered by Wake Forest.
There is video footage of him on his rivals page, but you have to pay to see them. http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=66359& sport=1
Youtube does have some videos of him winning the state 100m title.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=XfgLL7w_Yxs
He's still young and he may grow out of his speed. But he's at least worth keeping an eye on this upcoming season.

From Rivals:

At 6-foot-0, Furr is up to 205 pounds and hopes to increase his weight to 220 over the next year. If he can continue to increase his speed he could become one of the top prospects in the region in the Class of 2009.

"I definitely want to run track in college, along with playing football," Furr said. "Last year I won the state championship in the 100, 200 and the 4 x 1 and 4 x 2 sprint relays. I've run a 10.53 in the 100 meter dash and at a combine not to long ago I was clocked at 4.27 in the 40-yard dash.

Wow!! Sounds like he could have the speed/size combo of a Bo Jackson.

WOW sounds like a kid to really keep an eye on. Also those awesome rushing stats, 100m, and 200m feats are impressive no matter what division you're playing in so he should do quite well in North Carolina's regular h.s. division.

Hunter was injured in his team's first two games of the season.
He played his first game this Friday. Although he had fewer than 50 yards total, he did have three rushing touchdowns. The game was a rout, though, and the starters got pulled in the third quarter.
He's a new student there and a junior. I suspect they already have a gameplan that works for them. Hope they realize they have one of the fastest kids in the state on their team and try to feature him more in the future.

North Carolina high school sports news websites are a meandering mess. The game results are always late and almost never include decent stats.
I couldn't find any rushing numbers for Hunter's Sept. 7th game, other than that he scored two touchdowns (2 yards and 10 yards). From what I can tell, they've turned him into a goal line fullback. That was a danger when he switched to a new school that already had an established tailback. It's a shame because I have no doubt that Hunter could leave the #1 guy sucking vapor in a foot race.
They should definitely reconsider the roster, though. The team, ranked #10 in the state, was upset in overtime.

Hunter ran for 84 yards and a touchdown as a backup in his third game
of the season (the game was postponed to Monday due to bad weather).
I think it's safe to say that Hunter's chances for a major D1A scholaship are ruined. You have to perform big during your Junior season to get the attention from the recruiting services that propels you to major scholarship offers. But Hunter, a superstar speedster as a Sophomore, is now a second stringer behind a lumbering senior tailback. I suppose he didn't have much choice. For whatever reason (family move, redistricting), Hunter changed to a new school. And his new team is underperforming.
Next season, Hunter should be the first team tailback and his weekly numbers should improve. Hopefully, an impressive senior campaign will allow him to latch on to a Sun Belt or CUSA school.

Well, it took all season, but I finally managed to penetrate North Carolina's byzantine sports media to obtain a report about Hunter. Tonight was his team's first playoff game, which they won 35-7

This little nugget was included as part of the game coverage:

Furr, who has been timed at 4.31 seconds in the 40-yard dash, according to Coach Barry Stewart, finished with 194 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the runaway victory. He would have scored a fourth time, but was knocked out of bounds at the 1-yard line after a 40-yard gain.

I have no idea what his season stats are, but it sounds like his coach finally figured out who the best back on the team is. Since Hunter is only a junior this year, there should be no question about the starting tailback position at the beginning of next season. And, although his 40 time is a little slower than last year, that's still pretty fast (even though he needs to be in the 4.02 range to overcome the 'Caucasian Penalty').

Statistical update:

1,263 yards on 147 carries (8.6ypc), 17TD
I'm posting this now because I just found this info and I probably would've forgotten where I saw it later. And North Carolina has terrible prep sports coverage, so there's no guarantee I would've ever gotten these stats in the future.
In any case, Hunter has had a great season considering he missed his first two games due to injury. They play their third playoff game tonight.

That was one of my first posts on this website. At that time, the hyperlink system worked differently and I didn't use it properly. So it was easy to overlook.

The important thing is that people see Hunter's accomplishments. To that end, I'm glad that he's just a junior. Next year, he'll be TB #1 from the start. Considering his talents, he should have a monster year. And his state media does a lot better job of promoting him than Bair or McCaffrey in their states.
I just wish someone would put some football highlights of his up on Youtube. Track is great, but he needs the McGuffie treatment. They all do.

Hunter's Mount Tabor Spartans won their semifinal matchup last night 36-14 and will now be playing for the state championship next week. Hunter ran for 179 yards on 28 carries and scored all 5 of his team's touchdowns. As his coach put it:
"We have been the doormat for years, and people would come up and here and have their way and leave. Now, when people come, they know they are in a dogfight."
Amazing what adding a little white speed can do.

Hunter had a rough start to the new school and the coaches played him at a slot receiver, they finally realized he was a true tailback. Furr who is 6'1 210 pounds had rushed for over 1600 yards and 25 touchdowns and will lead his team in the state championship this weekend at Wake Forest. This kid is a true stud, HE HAS 2 ACC OFFERS from Wake Forest and North Carolina and should continue to get lots of attention. Look for him to play ACC one day.

WOW I can't believe caste whore Butch Davis gave him an offer. Knowing Butch though he'll switch Furr to safety.
